Virginia A. Burke
Virginia A. Burke, 85, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 14, 2000) at the Swiss Village, Berne, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Burke was a homemaker and a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. She was formerly employed at Berco Co., Swiss Village, and had also served as a volunteer at the Swiss Village.
She was born May 17, 1915, in Adams County to Jesse and Elizabeth Campbell Callihan. She married Herman Burke April 1, 1934, in Adams County. Her husband died in January of 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Fred Burke of Fort Wayne, William Burke of Huntington, and Don Burke of Berne; three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Elizabeth) Koons of Decatur, Mrs. Phillip (Sue) Wulliman of Berne, and Mrs. Roger (Gretchen) Lautzenheiser of Terre Haute; a sister, Mary Ellen Bauman of Geneva; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gretchen Patterson, Bernice Armantrout and Ruth Callihan; and two grandsons.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at the Swiss Village Chapel, 1350 W. Main, Berne. Rev. Craig Maven and Chaplain Anita Rediger will officiate. Burial will be at the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
Preferred memorials are to the Swiss Village Endowment Fund or to First Mennonite Church Missions.

Mark Kline
Mark Kline, 80, 269E Hosler Rd., died Sunday morning (Oct. 29, 2000) at Penn Rose Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Mr. Kline had owned and operated several service stations. He retired from Erie Stone Co.
He was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Huntington, a son of Frank H. and Justine Reed Kline. He married Phillis Moore April 17, 1946; his wife died May 27, 1987.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Vicki) Pearson, Huntington, and Mrs. Edward (Betsy) Rosen, Fort Wayne; a son, Tim E. Kline, Huntington; two brothers, Donald Kline and Robert Kline, both of Huntington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 1-2 p.m. Friday at Hart Funeral Home. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Russell Buzzard officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery.
Father Richard Urbine
Father Richard Urbine, 80, a former pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, died at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) at his home in Bourbon.
Father Urbine grew up in Fort Wayne and attended Sacred Heart Academy, Fort Wayne, and St. Meinrad Seminary in St. Meinrad. He was ordained a priest May 22, 1948, by Bishop John F. Noll at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne.
Father Urbine's first assignment was as an assistant pastor at St. Peter Church, Fort Wayne. He also served churches in South Bend, Hammond, Bremen, Nappanee, New Haven, Monroeville, North Manchester, and Syracuse. He served St. Mary Church, Huntington, from 1983 to 1985.
Father Urbine had also served as South Bend Deanery Moderator of Catholic Nurses and South Bend Deanery Moderator of the Council of Catholic Women. He retired Aug. 1, 1996.
He was born July 28, 1920, in Fort Wayne to Walter and Grace Keeley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Urbine.
Calling is from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at the cathedral. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.

Flossie M. Corkhill
Flossie M. Corkhill, 80, 1355 E. Market St., died at 10:40 a.m. Monday (Oct. 30, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Corkhill had been employed by the Huntington Office of PSI.
She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Four Mile, Knott County, Ky., a daughter of Robert and Virginia Wicker Wicker. She married Quentin Corkhill March 11, 1944, in Huntington; her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Robert Corkhill, Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Peggy) Bowers, Huntington, and Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Cartwright, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Seven brothers and three sisters are deceased.
The family will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery, Servia.

Marcella A. Waters
Marcella A. “Marcie” Waters, 40, Albion, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 28, 2000) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Waters had been employed by Walker’s Restaurant in Wolf Lake. She was a member of the Big Lake Church of God and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Wolf Lake.
She was born Aug. 25, 1960, in Huntington.
Survivors include her parents, Earl and Helen Waters, High Lake; a son, Scotty Peters of Albion; a daughter, Amanda Peters of Albion; four sisters, Cindy Hartman of Fort Wayne, Carol Warkentien of Huntington, Diana Warren of High Lake, and Randi Barrick of Bluffton; and a grandson.
Two brothers, Donald Waters and Ronald Waters, are deceased.
Calling is 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Big Lake Church of God, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.

William R. ‘Shorty’ Denton
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Marion for William Roy ‘Shorty’ Denton, 82, 6549S Etna Rd., who died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 25, 2000) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Denton was a retired truck driver for McCray Dray Lines and Chippewa. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 10, Amvets Post 5, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7403, all in Marion, and American Legion Post 95, Jonesboro. He was also a member of the RCA Sympathy Club.
Mr. Denton lived in Grant County all his life before moving to Huntington in September. He was born Nov. 25, 1917, in Sims, to Harrison and Loretta Dale Hinton. His first marriage was July 21, 1941 to Mary M. Ledman. She died July 3, 1972. His second marriage was April 20, 1973, to Golda Addison. She died March 9, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dana (Barbara) Stevens, Marion; a stepdaughter, Mrs. James (Beverly) Rude, Marion; a sister, Irene Rice, Uniondale; a half-brother, Jack Denton, Marion; four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Donald Denton and Kenneth Denton, a half-brother, Harrison Denton, and a stepson, Max Addison, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at Needham-Storey Funeral Service, Marion, with Rev. Edward Darnell officiating.
Graveside military rites were conducted at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
Floyd J. ‘Lefty’ Landrum
Floyd J. “Lefty” Landrum, 62, Fort Wayne, died Friday (Oct. 27, 2000) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Landrum had worked for Broadview Lumber Co., Waynedale Lumber, and Ace Hardware, retiring earlier this year.
He is survives by his wife, Carol J. Landrum; two daughters, Deborah Landrum and Diane Huffman, both of Fort Wayne; a son, Robert Landrum, Albion; two brothers, Richard “Butch” Landrum, Bridgeton, N.C., and Chuck Landrum, Auburn; a sister, Connie Teusch, Huntington; and three grandchildren.
A sister, Lorain Lechleitner, is deceased.
Calling is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 Wells St., Fort Wayne. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.

Cora Belle Dunn
Cora Belle Dunn, 76, Columbia City, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 25, 2000) at Whitley Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Dunn was a homemaker. She had been employed at Blue Bell and Gobblers Retreat a short time. She was a member of the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Dunn was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Columbia City, to Marion E. and Sylvia E. Lippincott Maywhoor. She married Albert S. Dunn July 3, 1943, in Whitley County. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Kay) Spears, Fort Wayne; a son, John Dunn, South Whitley; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Maywar, Port Huron, Mich. A brother, Norris Maywhoor, and two sisters, Josephine Welsheimer and Fern Weston, preceded her in death.
Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Additional calling will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene, 506 N. Main St. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. Thomas Beers officiating. Burial will be at the South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City.
Preferred memorials are to the donor’s choice.
