Bernard E. Parker
Bernard E. Parker, 69, Lafayette, died at 5:07 p.m. Monday (Aug. 21, 2000) at home.
Mr. Parker served in the U.S. Navy from July 1949 through July 1971 and worked 22 years at Purdue University, retiring in 1992. He was a graduate of Huntington Catholic High School, a member of American Legion Post 11, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1154, Knights of Columbus Post 456, the Navy Club, the athletic association of Central Catholic High School in Lafayette and St. Mary Cathedral, Lafayette.
He was born June 4, 1931 in Indianapolis, son of Bernard B. and Jeannette Brewer Parker. In 1957 in Oxford he married Elizabeth Jeanne Cooley who survives.
Survivors also include four daughters, Jeannette Joya and Stephanie Bullock of Lafayette; Bridget Rusk of Veedersburg and Angela Keiser of Linden; a son, Bernard T. Parker of Bloomington; and a brother, James Parker of Huntington.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hahn Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, where the Rosary will recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The funeral Mass is at noon Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Oxford, with Rev. Robert Klemme officiating.
Burial will be at Oxford Catholic Cemetery
where graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 11.
Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association or Central Catholic High School in Lafayette.
Clara S. Wagoner
Clara S. Wagoner, 88, rural Hartford City, died at 3:46 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 22, 2000) at Blackford County Hospital, Hartford City.
Mrs. Wagoner was a homemaker and had retired from Sinclair Glass, Hartford City, in 1973. She was a member of Alethia Chapter 206 Order of the Eastern Star and the Pleasantdale United Methodist Church, Montpelier. She attended Mt. Olive School, Grant County, and Sweetser high School.
She was born June 19, 1912 in Grant County, a daughter of Joseph Milton Miller and Christina Nancy Weaver Miller. She married Perry "Pete" Henry Wagoner Sept. 23, 1931, in Marion; her husband died July 11, 1989.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Joan Williams of Montpelier, Nancy Miller of Baytown, Tex., Susan Sills of Warren, and Dianne Bustos of Hartford City; two sons, Robert Wagoner of Montpelier and Perry "Danny" Wagoner of Hartford City; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Miller, Effie Patterson and Meldia Miller; and six brothers, Vaughn Miller, Verlin Miller, Otis Miller, Wayne Miller, Harley Miller, and Freddie Miller.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Frank Rodgers officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Ralph O. Brown
Ralph O. Brown, 89, 5071S-400E, died at 5:25 p.m. Friday (Aug. 18, 2000) at the Markle Health Care.
Mr. Brown was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Rock Creek Township. He was an aerial and studio photographer and owned Southside Studio, Huntington, for 28 years. He retired in 1968, returning to farming. He was a 1930 graduate of Rock Creek Township High School and a member of the Buckeye Christian Church, Markle.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1911, in Rock Creek Township, to William C.C. and Flora Ethel Day Brown.
Survivors include a son, Alan Brown, Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. John (Linda) Kreiger, and Mrs. Edward (Sandra) Kline, both of Huntington; a brother, Arlen Brown, West Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, and from noon until the 4 p.m. funeral service Monday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren. Rev. Jim Crothers will officiate at the services.
Burial will be at Sparks Cemetery, Wells County.

Robert W. Mitchell
Robert W. Mitchell, 61, 1436 Ash St., died at 4:36 p.m. Friday (Aug. 18, 2000) at the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Mitchell was a railroad engineer who retired in January, 1999. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He was born Oct. 19, 1938 in Huntington to Robert Mitchell and Anna Thorn Lewis. His marriage was July 30, 1988, in Huntington, to the former Lisa McElhaney. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Matt Mitchell, Roanoke, and a daughter, Mariah Mitchell, both of Huntington; a half-brother, Doug Mitchell, and three half-sisters, Marilyn Mitchell, Canton, Ohio, Caroline Nolan, Huntington, and Carol Bears, Florida.
A son and three daughters preceded him in death.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hart Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Allen Goebbert will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to either the family or the donor’s choice.
Marvin R. Nicholson
Marvin R. Nicholson, 74, 109 S. Main St., Warren, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 18, 2000) at the Caylor-Nickel Medical Center, Bluffton.
Mr. Nicholson was a salesman at Crain-Harter Ford, Warren, retiring in 1998. He also owned and operated a body shop, Auto Specialties, in Marion for 18 years. He was a 1943 graduate of Marion High School and was a Navy veteran.
He was born July 31, 1926, in Muncie, to Walter and Julia Burelison Nicholson. His mother survives in Huntington. His marriage was Oct. 3, 1947, in Vincennes, to the former Imogene Parke. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dennis Nicholson, Findlay, Ohio, and Gary Nicholson, Warren; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lisa) Williams, Warren; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Claudia Nicholson, preceded him in death.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Grant Memorial Park, Marion, with Rev. Mike Beall officiating.
Burial will be at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
Wanda B. Fidler
Wanda B. Fidler, 88, of the Kingston Residence, Fort Wayne, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 17, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Fidler was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington, where she served as pianist and organist for 55 years.
She was born Feb. 8, 1912, in Huntington to Harvey and Lorene Tumbleson Gressley. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1930. She married Forest Fidler on July 5, 1936, in Huntington. Her husband survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Cheryl Ann) Foley of Fort Wayne, and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Imo Jean) Wine of Huntington.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. Kevin Dunlop officiating.

Lucille Avila
Lucille Avila, 97, Columbia City, died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 16, 2000) at the Renaissance Village Nursing Home in Whitley County.
Mrs. Avila was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Roanoke.
She was born Sept. 30, 1902, in South Bend to Charles E. and Rose Gillen Moritz. Her marriage was April 23, 1924, in South Bend, to Frank W. Avila. He died Sept. 16, 1986.
Survivors include four sons, Frank C. Avila, Columbia City, Carlos J. Avila, Fort Wayne, Ramon L. Avila, Muncie, and Juan J. Avila, Trenton, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Rita M.) Tsuleff, Columbia City; 37 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ricardo A. Avila; a brother, Charles Moritz; a sister, Rosa E. Luther; and a grandson.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m. and a rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at the Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, with calling one hour prior to services, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St., Roanoke. Father Kenneth Sarrazine will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke.
Preferred memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Charles D. Earhart
Charles D. Earhart, 59, Fort Wayne, died Wednesday (Aug. 16, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Earhart had been a machine operator with Dana Corporation for 29 years. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club and a veteran of the Army.
He was born Oct. 19, 1940, in Huntington to Deloise and Emma Levine Earhart. His marriage was to the former Lena I. Armstrong. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Christian Earhart, Bluffton, Charlie Earhart, Decatur, and Carl Garringer Jr., Fort Wayne; two daughters, Anita Penrod, Ossian and Cathy Garringer, Fort Wayne; a brother, Richard Earhart, Fort Wayne; two sisters, Sandy Barkey, Columbia City and Joan Morgan, Calhan, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the D. O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will be at Cedar Creek Cemetery, DeKalb County.
