Jean H. Lockwood
Jean H. Lockwood, 75, 739 Ogan Ave., died at 7:40 p.m. Monday (Aug. 28, 2000) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Lockwood was a homemaker and a member of Central Christian Church. She graduated from Roanoke High School in 1943.
She was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Huntington County to John and Pearl Mae Gamble Hughes. She married Max Lockwood Nov. 9, 1943, in Huntington. Her husband died Aug. 5, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Blaine Lockwood of Huntington and Bruce Lockwood of Coconut Creek, Fla.; three brothers, V. T. Hughes of Roanoke, Rex Hughes of Fairmont, and Bob Hughes of Waynedale; a sister, Anna McHenry of Huntington; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Brent Lockwood and Brady Lockwood; and a brother, Jack Hughes.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Cameron Douglas will officiate. Burial will be at the Markle Cemetery, Markle.

Dale Richards
Dale Richards, 86, Ocala, Fla., died Friday (Aug. 25, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Richard had worked in maintenance in the Chicago School System.
He was born April 6, 1913, in Massey, Ontario, Canada. He married Ernestine Cozad, a former resident of Huntington, Oct. 30, 1937, in Chicago. They later retired in Florida. His wife survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edmond (Carol Ann) LaChance of Massey, Ontario; a son, James Richards of Chicago; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Florida. Burial will be in Massey, Ontario, at a later date.
Arthur R. Gilbert
Arthur Raymond Gilbert, 85, Bradenton, Fla., died at 4:15 a.m. Friday (Aug. 25, 2000) at Bethesda North Hospital, Montgomery, Ohio.
Mr. Gilbert was a 1933 graduate of Chester High School and a 1937 graduate of Manchester College. He taught junior high school mathematics for 15 years in Huntington County schools, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, Liberty Mills; an associate member of the Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren, Bradenton, Fla.; and a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
He was born May 25, 1915, in North Manchester to Elmer and Ina McFarland Gilbert. His marriage was June 12, 1937, to Marsha Pearson. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Ray M. Gilbert, Fort Wayne, David Grant Gilbert, Loveland, Ohio, and Boyd H. Gilbert, Valparaiso; two daughters, Marsha Gaye Benson, Stockton, Calif., and Julia Ann Gilbert, Woodbridge, Va.; four sisters, Josephine Hibbs, Columbia City, Virginia Balsbaugh, Mexico, Ind., Dorotha Zinsmeister, Huntington, and Madeline Gilbert Walls, Punta Gorda, Fla.; a brother, Edward Gilbert, North Manchester; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and a grandson preceded in death.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, Liberty Mills, with Pastor Kelly Beutler officiating. Burial will in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
Preferred memorials are to the Manchester College General Endowment Fund.
Raymond O. Girvin
Raymond O. Girvin, 88, 170 N. Tracey St., Markle, died at noon Saturday (Aug. 26, 2000) at the Markle Health Care Center.
Mr. Girvin had been employed as a stock clerk for General Electric, Fort Wayne, for 33 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ for more than 40 years and was also a member of Markle F&AM Lodge 453.
He was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Livermore, Ky., to Edward and Effie Taylor Girvin. He married Coleta Bidwell in Rockport March 26, 1932. His wife survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra Price of Oceanside, Calif.; a sister, Lois Kirtley of Utica, Ky.; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Raymond Girvin, a sister and four brothers.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Gerald Moreland will officiate. Burial will be at the Markle Cemetery, Markle.

Georgiana L. Gorrell
Georgiana L. Gorrell, 84, Fort Wayne, died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 26, 2000) at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Arrangements are pending at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel.
Bob L. Schocke
Bob L. Schocke, 76, Bluffton, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 27, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Schocke was a farmer and had also worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 30 years. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post III, Bluffton; and a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and Lucky Sam Camping Club. He was a past president and active member of the Wells County 4-H Club. He served in the Army during World War II.
He was born April 30, 1924, in Tipton to E. T. and Estella Hoover Schocke. He married Virginia Clark April 4, 1948, in Indianapolis. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bruce Schocke of Markle and David Schocke of Bluffton; four daughters, Lynn Schocke of Anderson, Rae Ann Cardin of Bluffton, Jan Rindler of Berne, and Bobbi L. Flanagan of Liberty Center; three sisters, Bytle Harshman of Petroleum, Mary Belle Barnett of Monticello, and Pauline Illy of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Calling is 1-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220 Ind.-124E, Bluffton. Rev. George Reprogle will officiate. Graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post III, Bluffton, at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Burial will follow.
Preferred memorials are to Veterans Hospitals or Veterans Home in Lafayette.
Kenneth D. Trost
Kenneth D. Trost, 81, of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Huntington, died Aug. 12 in Tucson.
Mr. Trost owned and operated K&R Salvage in Huntington. He was a mason for 55 years.
Mr. Trost is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Kenneth G. Trost of Tucson; two daughters, Nancy Henemyer of Tucson and Judy Moreno of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Aug. 15 in Tucson.
Adair Funeral Home, Avalon Chapel, Tucson, was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy B. Wamsley
Dorothy B. Wamsley, 89, 10328S Wayne Rd., Warren, died at 7 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 27, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Wamsley was a piano teacher for 60 years and played piano for Kiwanis and the Warren United Methodist Church Men’s Choir. She was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church.
She was born Aug. 13, 1911, in Huntington County to Everett and Ida Pearl Davis Thompson. She graduated from Warren High School in 1928. She married Wilbur “Glen” Wamsley Jan. 19, 1935, in Anderson. Her husband died March 21, 1968.
Survivors include a son, Rex Wamsley of Upland; a foster sister, Norma Rettig of Warren; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Thompson and Merlin Thompson.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Mike Beall will officiate. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.

Vera J. Holley
Vera J. Holley, 92, Frankfort, died at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 23, 2000) at the Wesley Manor Health Care Center, Frankfort.
Mrs. Holley was retired as a teacher at Penn High School, South Bend, and a member of the St. Joseph County Retired Teachers Association. She was a 1930 graduate of Huntington College.
She was born on April 25, 1908, in Mt. Carroll, Ill., to Rev. Elmer E. and Harriett Allen Plumley. In 1931, she married Clare Holley, who died in 1980.
Survivors include one daughter, Sondra Ritenour, Perkasie, Pa.; a sister, Ruth E. Reginer, Frankfort; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Plumley.
Calling will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Wesley Manor Health Care Center, 1555 N. Main St., Frankfort, where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Weaver and Rev. Gary Allen presiding.
An interment service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington. Burial will follow.
