James M. ‘Jim’ Millican
James M. "Jim" Millican, 45, 1255 Grayston Ave., died at midnight Thursday (Feb. 17, 2000).
Mr. Millican had worked at Gold Shield, Decatur, for the past two years and had formerly worked in the maintenance department at MagneTek, Huntington, for 14 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 85.
He was born May 2, 1954, in Huntington to Buford Millican and Joan Lewis Millican. He graduated from Huntington North High School in 1972.
Survivors include two brothers, Larry Millican, Punta Gorda, Fla., and Rick Millican, Huntington; and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Nyoka) LaFlower, Huntington.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Thayer Salisbury will officiate.
Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Zelma E. Wiley
Zelma E. Wiley, 83, died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 20, 2000) at Markle Health Care, Markle, where she was a resident. She was formerly of Huntington.
Mrs. Wiley was a homemaker and a member of the College Park United Brethren Church. She was also a member of the Huntington College Auxiliary and the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
She was born April 16, 1916, in Huntington County to Everett Hillegas and Carrie Call Hillegas. She married Earl M. Wiley Jan. 22, 1944, in Marion. Her husband died in June of 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bevan (Denise) Brauchla, Huntington, and Beverly Gamble, Columbia City; a sister, Edra Spickelmier, Lake Wales, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Pamela S. St. Claire, preceded her in death.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 338 E. Washington St., where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Kent Maxwell will officiate.
Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer's Association.
Helen Grier
Helen Grier, 88, Vero Beach, Fla., died Friday (Feb. 18, 2000) at Palm Garden of Vero Beach.
Mrs. Grier, a former resident of Roanoke, had moved to Vero Beach in 1947. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach. Mrs. Grier was a retired piano teacher and church organist.
She was born April 24, 1911 in Roanoke.
Survivors include a daughter, Sonia Young of Vero Beach, Fla.; a brother, Verlin Witherow of Roanoke; two sisters, Rosanna Jennings of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Rosella Corll of Huntington; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Monday at Strunk Funeral Home, 916 17th St., Vero Beach, Fla. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach, with Rev. Michael Oliver officiating. Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.

Doris J. McCoy
Doris J. McCoy, 59, 3393W Division Rd., died at her home at noon Thursday (Feb. 17, 2000).
Mrs. McCoy, a former resident of Fort Wayne, had lived in Huntington since 1990. She had been employed by Staffmark in Huntington for eight years and previously worked for Cunningham Optical in Fort Wayne. She was a 1958 graduate of Albion High School.
She was born Jan. 1, 1941 in Albion to Donald Halferty and Mabel Engle Halferty. Her first marriage was at Wolf Lake to Charles M. Largen, who died in 1983. Her second marriage was on May 23, 1990, in Huntington to Max E. McCoy, who survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Gary E. Largen, Grabill, and Steven C. Largen, Fort Wayne; a brother, Kenneth Halferty, New Haven; a sister, Mrs. Dean (Peggy) Earnhart, Albion; and one grandchild.
A son, Gregg M. Largen, is deceased.
There are no calling hours. A private burial service for family members will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rosehill Cemetery, Albion.
Bailey-Love Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ada M. Smith
Ada M. Smith, 86, 345 Himes St., died at 12:35 p.m. Friday (Feb. 18, 2000) at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Floral Chapter 75, and the Happy Grandmothers Club, all in Huntington. She had worked in the furniture department of Stillman's Department Store in Fort Wayne.
She was a 1931 graduate of Clear Creek High School, where she had played on the girls' basketball team. She was an inductee in the Huntington Basketball Hall of Fame.
She was born Jan. 1, 1914 in Huntington to David F. Greider and Minnie Bailey Greider. She married Ford M. Smith June 27, 1931, in Michigan; he died June 30, 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Norma Jean) Lapp and Sherry S. Skinner, both of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ernest Greider, Huntington, and Earl Greider, Noblesville; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A son, Terry Smith, and a grandson are deceased.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Steven N. Ailes will officiate. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Jeffry Tollinger
Jeffry Tollinger, 56, Santa Clara, Calif., died Thursday (Feb. 17, 2000).
Mr. Tollinger was a self-employed software developer in Santa Clara.
He was born Oct. 28, 1943, in LaPorte, Ind. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1961. He married Dian Roberts Dec. 26, 1965, in Huntington. His wife survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Grace Tollinger, Huntington.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association.
Deloris M. Wyatt
Deloris M. Wyatt, 91, Warsaw, died at 5:01 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 20, 2000) at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Mrs. Wyatt was employed as a clerk at Singers Department Store, retiring in 1968. She was a member of the Burket United Methodist Church, Burket. She had been a resident of Kosciusko County for 47 years.
She was born July 26, 1908, in Tipton to Oren Dillman and Elsie Mills Dillman. She married Alvin “Jack” Wyatt Nov. 16, 1945. Her husband died Nov. 23, 1991.
Survivors include six sons, Joseph Wyatt, Huntington, James Wyatt, Houston, Dorland Wyatt, Fort Wayne, Curtis Wainscott, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Robert Shafer and Phillip Shafer, both of Warsaw; five daughters, Mrs. Tim (Joyce) Watson, Columbia City, Mrs. Gary (Susan) Johnson, Claypool, and Mrs. Joanna England, Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) Miller and Mrs. Harold (Sheron) East, all of Warsaw; two brothers, Fred Dillman, Orlando, and Gerald Dillman, Kokomo; 65 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, three daughters, three brothers, one sister, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Don Poyser will officiate.
Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

William W. ‘Bill’ Adams
William Wesley "Bill" Adams, 49, died Feb. 8, 2000, in Brooksville, Fla., where he was a resident.
Mr. Adams was a truck driver and had driven for Schenkel's All-Star Dairy, Huntington, during the 1970s. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1968. He served in the Marines during the Vietname War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Brooksville. He was a former resident of San Diego, Calif., and moved to Brooksville in 1993.
He was born Aug. 8, 1950, in Indianapolis to William Adams and Irene Arnold Adams. His father and stepmother, William and Jennie Adams, survive and live in Bushnell, Fla. His mother, Irene Adams, survives and lives in Norfolk, Va.
Also surviving are two sons, Casey Joe Adams, Franklin, and Matthew Adams, Troy, Ohio; a daughter, Lisa Diane Adams, Fort Lauderdale; two sisters, Pauline Watkins, Huntington, and Cheryl Adams, Norfolk, Va.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Feb. 16 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. military honors were conducted by the Sumter County Honor Guard.
Preferred memorials are to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
