Ralph Truelove
LOOGOOTEE - Ralph C. Truelove, 89, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was a farmer and trucker and had built and owned the Sunset Trailer Court in Loogootee. He was on the original construction crew that built the Crane Navel Surface Warfare Center.
He had served two terms on the Loogootee council and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Ralph S. "Sam" of Loogootee; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie B. (Summers), in 1995, and a daughter, Wanda Eckstein, in 1973.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday at Brocksmith Funeral Home, with burial in Goodwill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Brocksmith Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of his church.
Murle Mitchell
BICKNELL - Murle W. Mitchell, 66, of Lyons, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute of cancer.
He had been a meat cutter for Worthington Packing Co. for 12 years and was a musician.
He was a Korean Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Nona; a daughter, Nona Wolford of Bicknell; two sons, Chet and Clark, both of Lyons; three sisters, Sandy Groff of Bartonville, Ill., and Jo Ann and Joyce Harris, both of Peoria, Ill.; five brothers, Zelvin Mitchell and James and Herb Harris, all of Peoria, Chuck Harris of Trivolla, Ill., and Leroy Johnson of Waterford, Miss.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at Bicknell McClure Funeral Home, with burial in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ella Jean Mercer
Ella Jean (Hales) Mercer, 67, of Battle Ground, Wash., formerly of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash., of complications of pneumonia.
She was active in the Battle Ground Senior Citizens. She was a poet and singer and an accomplished cook.
Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Robert F. Mercer; three daughters, Beverly Jeanne Raffaele of Vancouver, Wash., and Diana Marie Morton and Zenetta Irene Yost, both of Brookings, Ore.; five sons, Thomas Eugene Gee of Portland, Ore., Robert Nathan Gee of Wilsonville, Ore., Donald Chris Gee of Vancouver, Wash., and Rudy L.F. and Patrick Aaron Mercer, both of Battle Ground; two sisters, Charlotte Keck and Barbara Hales, both of Evansville; a brother, the Rev. Hardin "Bud" Hales of Evansville; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground, the Rev. Hardin Hales officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
David Holtz
David S. Holtz, 58, of Indianapolis, formerly of Evansville and Middletown, Ind., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at his home of cancer and heart failure.
He graduated from Nashville Central High School in Tennessee.
He was the co-owner of Spectrum Hair Stylists in Broad Ripple, Ind., and owned and operated David's Beauty Salon in Evansville with his former wife, Beverly Milligan-Rice.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Europe.
Surviving are a sister, Ginny Rizzuto of Indianapolis; three brothers, Tom Holtz of Texas and Larry Holtz and John Danapas, both of Florida; an aunt and uncles who helped raise him, Wilma and Ed Beyerstedt of Evansville; and a longtime companion, Jim Evans of Indianapolis.
A memorial dinner will be held at 2 p.m. EST Monday at the American Legion Post 216 in Middletown.
There will be no service or visitation at the Harry W. Moore Funeral Chapel in Indianapolis. The body will be cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers and Sailors Children's Home in Knightstown, Ind., or the American Cancer Society.
Earl Overton
Earl O. Overton, 86, of Evansville, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital.
He was a retired electrician, having worked for Servel, Moutoux and Kuester's.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a sister, Beulah Rollman of Evansville; a brother, Clem of Carrier Mills, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena (Weiss) Overton, in 1988.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Alexander Memorial Park, the Rev. Louis H. Dorsch officiating.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel and from 10 a.m. to service time at the cemetery.

Opal McDaniel
Opal L. (Forsythe) McDaniel, 76, of Evansville, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of heart failure.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Junker of Evansville; a son, James A. of Evansville; two sisters, Betty Stone of Eddyville, Ky., and Maxine Elliott of Bunker Hill, Ill.; two brothers, Lynn Forsythe of Fredonia, Ky., and Nelson Forsythe of Cadiz, Ky.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. McDaniel, in March.
Services will be private. Pierre Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society or the Arthritis Foundation.
Joseph Sancho
Joseph A. Sancho, 76, of Evansville, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center of pulmonary fibro sis. He retired from the U.S. Army and the state of California Franchise Tax Board.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Leona Sancho; a daughter, Karen Mills of Evansville; a stepdaughter, Toni L. Hutchins of Florida; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Olivet Presbyterian Church, the Revs. Dave Mills and Trey McClain officiating. The body will be cremated.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.
Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel is handling arrangements.

Leo Kutlich
Leo John Kutlich, 86, of McCutch-anville, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at his home.
He was the valedictorian of his high school graduating class in Rockford, Ill.
He retired from Dowell, a division of the Dow Chemical Company, in 1980 after 40 years. He started as a part-time truck driver and at the time of his retirement was vice president in charge of operations east of the Mississippi. He was was an avid golfer and landscaper.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor (Granberg) Kutlich; two daughters, Lori Kutlich of Evansville and Julie McKinney of Newnan, Ga.; two sons, Lee of Long Beach, Calif., and John of Evansville; two sisters, Mitzi Nashold of Visalia, Calif., and Betty Harris of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Lori Redden, Amy Bilskie Starszynski, Julie Ann Bilskie, Alycia Barnfield and Zack Kutlich; and a great-grandson.
There will be no services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel. The body will be cremated.
