Funeral services for Dorothy A. Geltmaker Spaulding, 93, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary of the Knobs Cemetery. She died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2005, at the Robert E. Lee Healthplex, New Albany.
She was the former Dorothy A. Smith, a native of Floyds Knobs. She was a 39 year employee of the old H.A. Seinsheimer Co., New Albany and was a member of Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, Floyds Knobs.
Survivors include a stepson, Donald L. Spaulding, Avon; a stepdaughter, Barbara E. McCord, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother, William B. Smith, Floyds Knobs; two sisters, Eleanor Hammersmith, Clarksville and Beatrice Keach, New Albany; five step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., Jeffersonville, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 11 and after 8 a.m. Wednesday. A prayer service was held at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Indiana.
Jerry Lyn Hale
55; Army veteran
Funeral services for Jerry Lyn Hale, 55, of Scottsburg, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Scott Memorial Hospital, Scottsburg.
He was a native of Jeffersonville, a retired water technician for the city of Pasadena, Texas and an Army veteran of the Vietname War. He was a member of the World Outreach For Christ in Scottsburg.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ann Parks; his mother, Opal McClure, Charlestown; a brother, Eddie Hale, Marysville; a sister, Patty Goforth, Charlestown; stepsons, Rick Ashley and Darrell Smith, Texas; stepdaughter, Sandy Ashley, Ala.; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Wesley and Kolby Ashley and Tyler Smith.
Visitation was Friday at the funeral home.
military graveside services will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1427 and American Legion Post 335, Charlestown.
Rita Watkin
72; of New Mexico
Rita Watkin, 72, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at her son's residence in Bosque Farms, New Mexico.
She was a native of New Albany and was very active in bowling for more than 50 years. She was also active in Senior Olympics and volunteered at the Soup Kitchen in Las Cruces.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Ward and husband, Bob, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons, Alan Watkin and wife, Debbie, Bosque Farms, New Mexico, who cared for her and Steven Watkin and wife, Carol, Lakewood, Washington; a brother, James Wagner and wife, Mary Jane, Essex Junction, Vermont; two sister-in-laws, Alberta and JoAnne Wagner, Louisville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Clayton Watkin; her parents, Clara and Herman "Hans" Wagner and two brothers, Stanley and David Wagner.
Funeral services will be private with cremation chosen.
Generations Funeral Home, New Albany, is assisting with arrangements.

James 'Jim' Amy
60; of Sellersburg
Funeral services for James 'Jim' Amy, 60, of Sellersburg, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Kraft Chapel, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery
in Louisville. He died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at his home, from complications resulting from heart disease.
He was a native of Corydon and first entered the grocery business when he was 21 years old. He semi-retired in 1985 from his grocery, Jim Amy's Thriftway, near Georgetown. He then moved to Naples, Fla., where he owned and operated three golf and tennis stores until 1991. He then became a top producing Realtor in the Naples area from 1991 until the present. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard Reserve.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Jean Amy and Violet Faye Schindler; and his parents, Roy Bennett Amy and Edith Jacobs Amy.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Judd Amy; four children, Jerry Amy, Ramsey, Jamie Amy-Longacre, New Salisbury and Christopher and JenniferAmy, both of California; two step-sons, Christopher Judd, Naples, Fla. and Glenn Fisher, Fairdale, Ky.; a brother, Roger Amy, Clarksville; two sisters, Shirley Emily and Judy Amy, both of Corydon; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the America Heart Association, and would like to express the great need for organ donor programs and your kind consideration to "give the gift of life."
Marcella Cain Brady
89; of Clarksville
Funeral services for Marcella Cain Brady, 89, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Scott Funeral Home Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Westminster Healthcare Center.
She was a native of Scottsburg and a retired nurse for Clark Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Arnold "Butch" Marchell, Owensboro, Ky.; a daughter, Juanita Oster, Jeffersonville; and four grandchildren, Keela Reed, Jeffersonville, Todd Oster, Jeffersonville, Retta Marchell, New Albany and Darin Marchell, Rockingham, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her father, George VanBuren Cain; her mother, Olive Maude Cain; and her husband, William Brady.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 7.
Randall Jarvis Jr.
70; Marine veteran
Graveside services for Randall Jarvis Jr., 79, of Jeffersonville, were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 7, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Louisville.
He was a native of Wallins Creek, Ky., a Marine veteran of the
Korean War and was a retired security guard at Louisiana Dock. He was also a former warehouseman for the old A&P Grocery. He was a member of American Legion Post 220, Louisville.
Survivors include his wife, Garnet L. Jarvis; a stepson, William N. Whaley, Jeffersonville; two sisters, Vivian M. Brunn, Clarksville and Judy Ann Roper, Loyall, Ky.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ambrose J. Kruer, Sr.
88; of Starlight
Ambrose J. Kruer, Sr., 88, of Starlight, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Providence Retirement Home.
He was a farmer and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Starlight. He was born in Clark County on March 1, 1916, the son of the late George Kruer Sr. and Eleanor Sunderhaus Kruer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Rose Schmidt Kruer; a son, Ambrose J. Kruer, Jr.; a daughter, Kevin Marie Kruer; sisters, Marcella Andres and Shirley Cooley; a brother, Jude Kruer; and a son-in-law, Richard Costelle, Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Merle J. Kruer and his wife, Dorothy, and James A. Kruer and his wife, Betty, all of Starlight, and Norman C. Kruer and his wife, Kathy, Jeffersonville; seven daughters, Evelyn M. Lilly and her husband, Eugene, and Janice K. Kruer, both of New Albany, Doris A. Costelle, Sellersbug, Patricia A. Nett and her husband, Jim, Carolyn R. Holden and her husband, Joel "Skip," and Cheryl L. Book and her Husband, Jim, all of Starlight, and Jean M. Schellenberger and her husband, Paul, Floyds Knobs; a daughter-in-law, Judy Ann Kruer, Starlight; brothers, Edward J. "Butch" Kruer and George Kruer, Jr.; sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Andres, Martha Scmidt, Irma Bierman, Bonnie Huber and Norma Johns; 34 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Visitation at Generations Funeral Home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Judge Harry Paynter I
78; of Jeffersonville
Funeral services for Judge Harry Paynter I, 78, of Jeffersonville, will be at noon Monday, Jan. 10, at Scott Funeral Home North Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Clark Memorial Hosptial.
He was a native of Salem, a retired judge with Clark County Superior Court, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Indiana State and Clark County Bar Association and an Army veteran. He was also a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the Bradeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, where he was a particiapnt of the National College of the State Judiciary. He was an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police and for many years he held a certificate of good standing with the Supreme Court of Indiana. He was a member of the American Legion, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the BPOE Elks Club, the Democratic Club of Clark County, the Indiana Judges Association ans was a Precinct Committeeman for the 16th District.
Survivors include a son, Skip Paynter, Manhattan, N.Y.; a daughter, Lynn Paynter, Manhattan, N.Y; a step-son, Kenneth Graves, Jeffersonville; a sister, Alice Jean Griswold, Texas; one grandchild and three great grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10 to noon Monday, Jan. 10.

Ernest Dillon Pistole, Jr.
62; of Sellersburg
Graveside services for Ernest Dillon Pistole, Jr., 62, of Sellersburg, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Viola Cemetery
in McMinnville, Tenn. He died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his home.
He was a native of Detroit, Mich., a U.S. Army veteran and a retired plant manager for Cameo Marble, a division of Louisville Tile, in New Albany.
Survivors include a son, Charles Ray Pistole, Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Hazel Lee Reed Pistole, McMinnville, Tenn.; a sister, Melba Bonner, Viola, Tenn.; a brother, Phillip Pistole, Brentwood, Tenn.; a niece, Lee Williamson, McMinnville, Tenn.; and two nephews, Sam Bonner, Viola, Tenn. and Reese Pistole, Brentwood, Tenn.
Visitation at High Funeral Home, 101 N. College St. in McMinnville, Tenn., will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
