62, of New Albany
Funeral services for Carol Jeanette Lopp, 62, of New Albany, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Cornerstone Chapel, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at her home in New Albany.
She was a retired nurse for Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. She was a member of Cornerstone Chapel on Spring Street in New Albany. She was the former Carol Jeanette Case and a native of Elizabeth.
Survivors include her husband, Doug Lopp; four daughters, Rhonda Carter, New Albany, Becky Parsons, Floyds Knobs, Angela Nugent, Greenville and Stephanie Lopp, New Albany; two brothers, Douglas Case, San Francisco, Calif. and Gary Case, Elizabeth; two sisters, Juanita Redford, Sellersburg and Donna Johns, New Albany; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Charles Douglas Meek.
Visitation at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to her church, Cornerstone Chapel.
Morton Owens
79; of New Albany
Funeral services for Morton Owens, 79, of New Albany, will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 30, at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, with burial to follow in Swayback Cemetery
in Borden. He died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004.
He was a sheet metal worker for Alcan Aluminum Co. in Louisville. He was also an avid antique dealer and collector. He was a Master Mason in Jeffersonville Lodge F&AM 340.
Survivors include two sons, Mark S. Owens and wife, Sherry and Phillip R. Owens and wife, Brenda; and three grandchildren. Survivors also include his companion, Jean Little and his caregiver, Carl Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Owens.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions in his memory to the American Diabetes. Association.
Cleodue E. Sturgeon
84; of Leavenworth
Funeral services for Cleodus E. Sturgeon, 84, of Leavenworth, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon, with burial in the Fredonia Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after noon today, Thursday, Oct. 28.
Dana E. Mauk
48; of Henryville
Funeral services for Dana E. Mauk, 48, of Henryville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Collins Funeral Home, 465 West McClain Ave., Scottsburg, with burial in Lexington Cemetery. He died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004 in Louisville from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He served during peacetime in the U.S. Army and was a member of Moose Family Center Chapter 2324. He was an employee of R & L Carrier, Louisville for the last eight years and was a former driver for Dolly Madison.
He was born Oct. 7, 1956 in Jeffersonville.
Survivors include his wife, Anna L. Mauk; a son, Michael Mauk, Lexington; a daughter, Danielle Mauk, Jeffersonville; two stepsons, Rusty and Kenneth Collins, Tampico; a stepdaughter, Tonya Graham, Bedford; his mother, Wanda Lynch, Lexington; three sisters, Amanda Powers, Charlestown, Teresa Korte, Borden and Joletta Powers, Indianapolis; a brother, David Powers; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Powers and stepfather, Omer "Buck" Lynch.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 27 and after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Louis B. Cavanaugh Sr.
87; World War II veteran
Funeral services for Louis B. Cavanaugh Sr., 87, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at St. Bertrand Catholic Church, Louisville, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. He died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Providence Retirement Home, New Albany, surrounded by his family.
He was a retired employee from Norton's Hospital, Louisville and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, Louisville and a charter member of St. Louis Bertrand Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include three children, Martha Luther and husband, Bill, Berta Luther and husband, Don and Bob Cavanaugh and wife, Dell, all of Sellersburg; his former wife, Helen Emely; stepchildren, Ray Emely Jr., Anna Waldkoette and husband, Larry and Susan Tucker, all of New Albany; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Louis B. "Sonny" Cavanaugh Jr.
Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28.

Claude 'Sonny' Cunningham Sr.
57; of New Albany
Funeral services for Claude "Sonny" Cunningham Sr., 57, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, with burial in Penn Run Memorial Park in Louisville. He died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany.
He was a former employee of the old George Moser Leather Company in New Albany.
Survivors include his two sons, Claude Cunningham Jr. and Charles Cunningham, both of New Albany; two daughters, Dora Lone, New Albany and Dana Goldman, Sellersburg; his father, Claude F. Cunningham, New Albany; four brothers, Eddie, Donnie and Jimmy Cunningham, all of New Albany and Mike Cunningham, Marengo; three sisters, Mona Lisa Torres, Sellersburg and Diana Blake and Wilma Gresham, both of New Albany and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 27 and from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28.
Richard R. Rawlings
67; of New Albany
Richard R. Rawlings, 67, of New Albany, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was retired from the New Albany Sanitation Department, attended Hour of Power Church and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1832, New Albany and American Legion Post 28.
Survivors include two sons, Richard S. Rawlings, Campbellsburg, Ky. and Richard "Ray" Rawlings, New Albany; a daughter, Laura L. Rawlings, New Albany; three brothers, Ted Rawlings, Zuni, Va., and Glenn and Mike Rawlings, New Albany; three sisters, Barbara Richardson, Crandall, Carolyn Burres, New Albany and Janet Snyder, Bristol, Va.; his mother, Ruby Hess Rawlings, New Albany and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Juliot and father, Ted Rawlings.
Private visitation and funeral services will be held at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel.

Elsie M. Smith
94; of New Albany
Funeral services for Elsie M. Smith, 94, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Highlife Private Adult Care in Clarksville.
She was a native of Floyd County and a member of Culbertson Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star 340.
Survivors include her son, Donald Noble Smith, New Albany and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Wilbur Smith.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 27.
Bernadine Rose Steinmetz Purcell
84; former Clarksville resident
Bernadine Rose Steinmetz Purcell, 84, of Beech Grove, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004.
She was the widow of Loy William Purcell and lived in Clarksville from 1949 to 2003, where she was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She contributed articles to the Criterion and Padua Press and helped founded youth groups for the New Albany Deanery as a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She also moderated the Fatima Club at St. Anthony's and was a member of the St. Anthony Altar Society. She was retired from the U.S. Census Bureau and also worked for Stewart's Department Store.
Survivors include three daughters, Sr. Antoinette (Evelyn) Purcell O.S.B., Jacquelyn Hutt and Marilyn Williams; two sons, Loy William Purcell Jr. and Robert Anthony Purcell; a brother, John Bernard Steinmetz; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy and children, Carolyn Harris and Raymond Bernard Purcell.
Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St., Beech Grove, will hold visitation today, Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Paul Hermitage with prayer service at 4 p.m. There will also be visitation Thursday, Oct. 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Clarksville with a Mass or Resurrection, Friday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church.
Burial will be in St. Anthony's Church, Clarksville.
