Leonard T. Jorden
57; Air Force veteran
Funeral services for Leonard T. Jorden, 57, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd. in New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
He was an employee of Vogt Tube Ice LLC in Louisville for 35 years, and Air Force veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge in New Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jorden; a son, Thomas Jorden, New Albany; three daughters, Michelle Begley, Nashville, Tenn., Kimberly Minor, New Albany, and Melissa Brown, Kansas City, Mo.; two stepchildren, Terry and Sharon Budd, both of New Albany; a brother, Charles Jorden, Clarksville; two sisters, Evelyn McCurley, Clarksville and Judy Kays, Taylorsville, Ky.; ten grandchildren and four step grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6.
Joy V. Stephenson
85; of Corydon
Funeral services for Joy V. Stephenson, 85, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, with burial in Leavenworth Memorial Gardens in Leavenworth. She died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Harrison County Hospital.
She was the former Joy Vernon and a native of Marengo. She was a longtime resident of Leavenworth and a member of the Leavenworth Community Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Ron Stephenson and his wife, Sally, Bloomington; two sisters, Floris Seabrook, New Albany, and Doris Curts and her husband, Denzil, Marengo; a sister-in-law, Peg Vernon, Louisville and two grandchildren, Scott Stephenson, Ft. Collins, Co., and Sarah Stephenson, Asheville, N.C.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Leavenworth Community Presbyterian Church.
Florence Hall Kenney
90; formerly of Jeffersonville
Florence Hall Kenney, 90, a longtime resident of Jeffersonville, passed away July 21, 2004, at The Amber Assisted Care Center in Clatskanie, Oregon.
She attended Park Place United Methodist Church and was employed by Steiden (Winn-Dixie) Food Market while living in Jeffersonville. She was an advanced quilter in the Senior Citizens Quilting Club in Clatskanie and worshiped our heavenly Father daily and through faithful attendance at the Clatskanie Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Lloyd in 1972 and Richard in 1997 and a daughter, Anna Florence in 1938.
Survivors include a daughter, Alma Hall Berry; grandchildren, Anna Berry Pfeil and David Berry; a great granddaughter, Jessica Pfeil, all of Jeffersonville. Other survivors include a daughter, Ruby Hall Ryna, Clatskanie, Oregon; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren in Oregon and Sacramento, Calif.
Ruth E. Buren
89; homemaker
Funeral services for Ruth E. Buren, 89, of Clarksville, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Clarksville, with burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Providence Retirement Home, New Albany.
She was a native of Clark County, a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society of St. Anthony's Church.
Survivors include a son, Simon Caye Buren Jr. and his wife, Nicole, St. Pierre, France; three daughters, Ruth Ann Reynolds and husband, Chet, Memphis, Judith M. Wheatley and husband, Joe, Floyds Knobs and Mary Lou Richards and husband, Ted, Duluth, Ga.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Caye Buren Sr., and three sisters, Nellie Conn, Mary Egan and Mildred Weber.
Visitation at Coots Funeral Home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6 and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Louise 'Nena' Weber
81; World War II veteran
Funeral services for Louise "Nena" Weber, 81, of Clarksville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Jersey City, N.J. and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Weber; a daughter, Roberta "Teda" Barnett, Palatka, Fla.; a son, Michael A. Weber, Charleston, S.C.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5.
Harry Bud Corbett Jr.
70; Army veteran
Funeral services for Harry Bud "Pink Panter" Corbett Jr., 70, of Charlestown, will be held at noon Friday, Aug. 6, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens, Mt. Washington. He died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Medical Center of Southern Indiana.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietname War, a retired mechanic and a member of American Legion Post 28, New Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Corbett; two sons, David A. and Eugene Corbett; two stepsons, John B. and Anthony Hudson; a daughter, Jennie Corbett; two brothers, Ron and Tom Corbett; sister, Norma Sanders; a special nephew, Allen Sands and six grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 and after 9 a.m. Friday.
Marie Edna Dixon Tegart
native of Jeffersonville
A funeral Mass for Marie Edna Dixon Tegart, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. She died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at her home in New Albany.
She was born in Jeffersonville the daughter of Edward and Helen Dixon. She was married to the late Floyd County Judge, the Honorable Paul Joseph Tegart, who died in 1981. Living on Main Street in New Albany most of their lives, Judge and Mrs. Tegart were active community members. She belonged to the Democratic Women's Club, St. Mary's Altar Society, New Albany-Floyd County Library Board, Jefferson County, Kentucky Classroom Teachers and Daughters of Isabella.
She had a lifelong respect and love for education as she earned bachelor and master degrees from Indiana University. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the value of learning each and every day. Her modeling of reading, writing and travel adventures set an excellent example for family and all who knew her. She was a teacher in the Catholic and public Kentuckiana schools for over 30 years.
The Tegarts were members of the old Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
She had 11 children. The surviving children are Patricia Marie Tegart Brunni, Joseph Paul Tegart (Doris), Margaret Ellen Tegart Deatrick, Robert Howard Tegart (Elisa), William Peter Tegart, James Phillip Tegart (Eva), Barbara Rae Tegart Warman (Jerry), Mary Antoinette "Toni" Tegart Broderick (Mike) and Catherine Edna Tegart. She enjoyed 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, the late Floyd County Judge, the Honorable Paul Joseph Tegart; sons, Edward Dixon Tegart and John Owen Tegart; brothers, Joseph Dixon and Robert Dixon; and grandson, Charles Joseph Deatrick.
Visitation will be at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 4.

Lester W. Wills
57; Navy veteran
Funeral services for Lester W. Wills, 57, of New Albany, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Caritas Medical Center, Louisville.
He was a welder, a Navy veteran and a member of Georgetown Community Church. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Floyd County Post.
Survivors include a son, Bobby J. Wills and a sister, Joyce Wills, both of Jeffersonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie L. and Mildred R. Wills and a sister, Sheryl Wills-Jones.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5.

65; of New Salisbury
Paul C. Damon, 65, of New Salisbury, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004. There will be no visitation or funeral service. The body will be cremated. Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Highway 64 NW, Ramsey is in charge of arrangements.
Martha R. 'Becky' Cecil
57; of Sellersburg
A funeral Mass for Martha R. "Becky" Cecil, 57, of Sellersburg, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sellersburg. She died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004 at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville.
She was a human resources clerk for Clark Memorial Hospital, a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and a past president of the Jeffersonville Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Cecil, Sellersburg; a brother, Larry C. Vann, Caghiger, Miss.; a sister, Donna Wendler, Marine, Ill. and several nieces and nephews.
Coots is in charge of the arrangements.
