John V. Becht
94; member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Funeral services for John V. Becht, 94, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. He died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany.
He was a native of New Albany, a retired employee of New Albany Steam Laundry and Drycleaning, a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Cardinal Ritter Council #1221 Knights of Columbus in New Albany.
Survivors include a son, John J. Becht, Crestwood, Ky.; four daughters, Wilma J. Zink Bess, Agnes M. Becht and Rita M. Becht, all of Clarksville and Martha M. Jenkins, Louisville; a brother, George F. Becht, New Albany; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna M. Hellman Becht.
Vistation at the Spring Street location of Kraft Funeral Service will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Alzheimers Foundation.
Austin William Renn
15;freshman at Silver Creek High School
Funeral services for Austin William Renn 15, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at lthe Charlestown Road location of Kraft Funeral Service with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 following an automobile accident in Kentucky.
He was a native of Jeffersonville, a freshman at Silver Creek High School and formerly attended Borden High School.
Survivors include his father, Ricky Renn, Scottsburg; his mother, Angela Bumgardner, Sellersburg; a sister, Jessica Renn, Sellersburg; his grandparents, Larry and Hellen Schroeder, Charlestown and Frank and Sandy Bumgardner, Louisville; and his great grandmother, Juanita Bumgardner, Illinois.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the family.
Lawrence Fetz
age 58; Navy veteran
Funeral services for Lawrence Fetz, 58, of New Albany, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, at the New Albany National Cemetery
with funeral honors provided by the U.S. Navy. He died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at his home.
He was a native of Salem and a Navy veteran, assigned to the 6th Fleet on the USS Saratoga.
Survivors include two sons, Michael and Gregory Fetz; a daughter, Kim Ellinger; a sister, Virgina Johnson; and five grandchildren.
Paul V. Schrader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
Bettie S.Brooks
age 60; of Corydon
Funeral services for Bettie S. Brooks, 60, of Corydon, were held at 11 a.m. today, Monday, Dec. 29, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon, with burial in the Perserverance Chapel Cemetery
near Corydon. She died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Harrison Coutny Hospital, Corydon.
Visitation was Sunday and after 9 a.m. this morning at the funeral home.
Ercile Josephine Meredith
age 71; of Corydon
Funeral services for Ercile Josephine Meredith, 71, of Corydon, will be private. She died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, in Albuquerque, N.M.
A native of Evanson County, Ky., she was born January 30, 1932 to the late Willis J. and Sarah J. Condra Meredith. She was a member of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include three sons, Donald R. Allen, Elizabeth, Charles Wayne Allen, Bethel, Ala., Ricky Wayne Allen, Tenio, Wa.; two half sons, Bill W. Payne, California, and Loren W. Payne, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Cathy Allen, Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother Roscoe E. Meredith, Elizabeth; two grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon, is in charge of arrangements.

Richard O. Pruitt
age 74; formerly of Jeffersonville
A memorial service for Richard O. Pruitt Sr., 74, of Watertown, Tenn., formerly of Jeffersonville, will be held in early January in Tennessee. He died Dec. 11, 2003, in Tennessee.
He was a retired Jeffersonville police captain and retired owner of Pruitt Electric.
Survivors include his wife, Martha J. Pruitt, Watertown, Tenn.; two sons, Richard O. Pruitt Jr., New York and Barry L. Pruitt and wife Roslyn, Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Donna Pruitt Ramey and husband Bill, New Albany; a granddaughter, Krista M. Perdue and husband Sam, Lafayette; and two grandsons, Cody C. and Jesse C. Pruitt, New York.
The body was cremated. Bass Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Tenn. is in charge of arrangements.

85; WWII veteran
Funeral services for Herbert E. Buechler, 85, of Ferdinand, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by Ferdinand Legion Post 124. He died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Huntingburg.
Visitation at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 and from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Ralph E. Bates
86; member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Funeral services for Ralph E. Bates, 86, of Louisville, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Albany, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at Jefferson Manor in Louisville.
He was a native of Post Deposit, Md., the former owner and agent for Bates Insurance Agency and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of New Albany.
Suvivors include two daughters, Carolyn B. Webb, Louisville and Barbara B. McMakin, Crestwood, Ky.; a sister, Dorothy M. Brown, Zaphyrhills, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Charles Andrew Lipscomb Sr.
age 91; Jeffboat retiree
Funeral services for Charles Andrew Lipscomb Sr., 91, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at First Christian Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
He was a native of Somerset, Ky., a retired welder from Jeffboat and was a member and past deacon of the First Christian Church, Jeffersonville. He was a volunteer at Clark Memorial Hospital Hospital for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Lipscomb; a son, Charles A. Lipscomb Jr., Elliotsville; a daughter, Kathryn Musselman, Salem; two brothers, Virgil Lipscomb, Kevey and Roy Bunch, Glasgow, Ky.; two half brothers, Lewis and Ralph Lipscomb; a half sister, Dana Engles, Laporte; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, and at the church after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Martha Jane Robinson
age 79; former apartment manager
Graveside services for Martha Jane Robinson, 79, of Jeffersonville, were held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Eastern Cemetery. She died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Hillcrest Centre, Jeffersonville.
She was a native of Chandler and a former apartment manager for Eastlawn Arms, Jeffersonville.

Lillian Isabel Sleigh
age 85; retired owner Sleight Day Care
Funeral services for Lillian Isabel Sleigh, 85, of Clarksville, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Ernest, Pa., and a retired owner of Sleigh Day Care, the first state approved day care in the State of Indiana. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Jeffersonville and the First Presbyterian Church, Jeffersonville.
Survivors include her two sons, Richard G. Sleigh, Rantoul, Ill. and William J. Sleigh, Louisville; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lowell Sleigh and her parents, George Spellman and Lillian Murdock Spellman.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.
