Army Reserve veteran
Funeral services for Kenneth R. Townsend, of Sellersburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg. He died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at his home.
He was retired from K&I Asphalt in Utica, was an Army Reserve veteran, a member of the American Legion 204 Color Guard, Eagles Lodge in Jeffersonville, Sellersburg Moose Lodge and the 40&8 in New Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Townsend; four sons, Tim Townsend, Jim Townsend, Sam Lomax and Daniel Townsend; six daughters, Janet Stricker, Debbie Oehmann, Sherri Taylor, Brenda Maddox, Marsha Hiser and Patty Prather.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 13 and after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Robert Daniel Brock
80; of Floyd Knobs
A memorial service for Robert Daniel Brock, 80, of Floyds Knobs, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19 at St. Mark's United Church of Christ, 222 E. Spring St., New Albany. Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. He died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at Jewish Hospital.
He was a native of New Albany, a retired electrical/mechanical contractor and former co-owner of Brock Electric Company with his brother. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, a member of The National Electrical Contractor Association, a former project manager for Habitat for Humanity in New Albany and a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mildred (Rosner) Brock; three daughters, Christine Cherry, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Connie (Randy) Moser, Floyds Knobs and Carol (Jim) Ponsford, Columbus, Ind.; five grandchildren, Ben Moser, Mollie (Emmett) Irwin, Ellie Moser, Jessica Ponsford and Jennifer Ponsford; and a sister, Violet (Al) Murley, Clarksville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie Brock; a brother, David W. Brock Sr.; and a sister, Margie Reas.
The family wishes to express appreciation for the kindness and care given by the fourth floor staff at Jewish Hospital and the physical therapy staff at Frazier Rehab in Louisville during his extended illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Mark's United Church of Christ Habitat for Humanity Fund.
James E. Goodale
79; of New Albany
A funeral Mass for James E. Goodale, 79, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany. He died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.
He worked in automotive sales and at I.C.I. for more than 19 years as a security guard and firefighter. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and the
Korean War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hobart Beach Post 1693 in New Albany, the National Rifle Association, Borden Gun Club, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise (Coomes) Goodale, New Albany; two sons, Roger A. (Linda) Goodale, Georgetown and Richard J. Goodale, New Salisbury; a brother, Herbert M. (Debbie) Goodale, New Albany; a sister, Shirley Moberley, Floyds Knobs; and five grandchildren.
Visitation at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Wanetta M. Hinkle
77; of New Albany
Funeral services for Wanetta M. Hinkle, 77, of New Albany, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13 at Pyke-Colloway Mullineaux Chapel, 1217 E. Spring St., New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. She died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Jeffersonville.
She was a native of New Albany, the daughter of the late Vernon and Grace (Weaver) Thomas. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Hogan, New Albany and Mary Hudson, Clarksville; a son, James E. Hinkle, Lanesville; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Crit Hinkle and a grandson, Mickey Hogan.
Visitation at the funeral home was after 9 a.m. this morning, Monday, Sept. 13.

Roger W. Royse
69; of Corydon
Funeral services for Roger W. Royse, 69, of Corydon, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Corydon, with burial in the church cemetery. He died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.
He was a 1953 graduate of the Kentucky School of Embalming in Louisville and was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for 51 years. He owned and operated Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Homes, Inc. in Corydon and Georgetown. He was elected Harrison County Coroner for 16 years, was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and was invited to be a member of the National Selected Morticians. He was an emergency medical technician and operated an ambulance services until the early 80s. He was a past president of the Corydon Lion's club, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Corydon Sportsman's Club, Moose Lodge, the former Corydon JayCees, Optimist Club, Corydon Country Club and the Redmens Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Laura L. "Dookie" Sibert, Corydon; two daughters, Lou Anne Royse and Holly M. Glordan, both of Corydon; a brother, J. Frederick Royse, Corydon; and four grandsons, Jonathan and Zachary Windell and Maxwell and Benjamin Glordan.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Royse.
Visitation at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon was after 8 a.m. today, Monday, Sept.. 13.

Earl O. Saulman
79; of Corydon
Funeral services for Earl O. Saulman, 79, of Corydon, were held at 2 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 13 at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. He died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004.
He was a retired principal at Corydon Central High School, a member of the Corydon Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Harrison County Council and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, the former Betty J. Fisher Byrn; two step-sons, Leonard Howard and Brian Douglas Byrn; two step-daughters, Rosalee South and Saundra Kernan; three brothers, Walter, Donald and Gerald Saulman; two sisters, Catherine Satterfield and Anne Jane Raisor; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home was from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 12 and after 8 a.m. Monday. There was a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Larry W. Thomas
42; of Corydon
Funeral services for Larry W. Thomas, 42, of Corydon, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 13 and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday. He died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at his home.
Sharon K. Wisecarver
55; of Salem
Funeral services for Sharon K. Wisecarver, 55, of Salem, were held at 11 a.m. today, Monday, Sept. 13 at Dawalt Funeral Home, Salem, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem.
She died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.
Moses Cornell Gilbert
88; World War II veteran
Funeral services for Moses Cornell Gilbert, 88, of Marysville, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Marysville. He died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Logan County, Ky. on Jan. 17, 1916. He was a World War II veteran who served under General Patton's Army. He was discharged from the U.S. Army on Dec. 7, 1945 as a Sergeant Fourth Grade Company B 631st Tank Destroyer Battalion. He married Willie Carinne Kelly on Jan. 9, 1946. Upon returning home he became a manager for Ralph Rogers Road and Rock Quarry in Newton County for several years before returning to the farm in Marysville. He also drove a school bus for Oregon Township and was the Oregon Township Trustee for eight years. He was a member of American Legion Post 0352, Nabb and was also a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Marysville.
Survivors include his wife, Carinne Kelly Gilbert; two sons, Harold and Leon Gilbert, Marysville; two daughters, Becky Stephans, Noblesville and Patricia Gill, Prospect, Ky.; four sisters, Rebecca Martin, Louisville, Allie Newby, Sellersburg, Kathleen Rogers, Munster and Vayola Clapp, Marysville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elden and Mattie Gilbert; three brothers, Elden Douglas, Richard Polk and Joe Dale Gilbert and a sister, Norene Henderson.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 11 and after 9 a.m. Sunday.
