Funeral services for Marcella Book Sprigler, 81, of Starlight, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Starlight, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Monday, July 26, 2004, at her home.
She was a housewife and homemaker and a lifetime member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church.
The daughter of the late William and Josephine Missi Book, she was born June 19, 1923 in Starlight.
She is survived by seven children, Robert Sprigler and his wife, Carol, Floyds Knobs, Ronald Sprigler, Starlight, Betty Kruer and her husband, Jim, Starlight, Donald "Gene" Sprigler and his wife, Terri, Starlight, Carolyn Senn and husband, Jim, Floyds Knobs, Darlene Stumler and husband, Michael, Starlight and David Sprigler, Starlight; a brother, William "Bill" Book Sr. and his wife, Ruth; a sister, Geneva Sprigler and her husband, Oscar; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Sprigler and a brother, Bernard Book.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, July 28 and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Ln., New Albany. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Starlight or Hospice of Southern Indiana.
Lelia F. Thompson
100; of Clarksville
Funeral services for Lelia F. Thompson, 100, of Clarksville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Westminster Health Care in Clarksville.
She was a native of Shepherdsville, Ky. and former sales clerk of Kaufman Department Store in Louisville. She was also a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, New Albany.
Survivors include her two daughters, Carolyn Jewell and husband James Sr., and Sharon Cahill, all of New Albany; six grandchildren, Deborah Cottingham, Kimberly Hayes, Lisa Marcum, Pamela Schmidt, Regina Pollard and Michael Bernhardt; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Otto Thompson; father, Robert Alva Carpenter; mother, Rebecca Saddler Carpenter; stepfather, Merton McAhron; sister, Elizabeth Douglas; two brothers, Walter McAhron and Chester McAhron; and a grandson, James Jewell Jr.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30 and after 9 a.m. Saturday, July 31.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Vista Care Hospice.

Funeral services for Mary Ann Streets Fogel, 61, of New Albany, were held Tuesday, July 27 at Paul V. Shrader Funeral Home, New Albany. She died Saturday, July 24, 2004.

Grace Knuckles Meyer

A memorial service for Grace Knuckles Meyer, 81, of Borden, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Borden Church of Christ. She died Wednesday, July 14, 2004.
Visitation at the church will be after noon on Saturday.

74; former accountant for ICI Americas
Funeral services for Louise Pittman Walls, 74, of Charlestown, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at the First Baptist Church, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. She died Monday, July 26, 2004.
She was a native of Paoli, a former accountant for ICI Americas and a member of the First Baptist Church, Charlestown and Order of Eastern Star 597.
Survivors include her husband, Nova Walls; their children and their families, Sandy McCoy and her husband Ted and their children, Julie McCoy and Jonathan McCoy and his wife, Colette and their children, Luke and Ella; Rita McCoy and husband, Mark and their children, Adam and Meredith and Rev. Jimmy Walls and wife, Catherine and their children, Nathan and Ashey.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Visitation at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 28 and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

James R. Nasby
80; retired heavy equipment operator
Funeral services for James R. Nasby, 80, of Underwood, were held at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Collins Funeral Home, 465 West McClain Ave., Scottsburg. There was also be a funeral service Sunday, July 25, at Temple Hill Baptist Church near Glasgow, with burial at White Cemetery, also near Glasgow, Ky. He died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator and attended the Free Gospel Church in Underwood. He was a native of Circle, Montana and the son of the late Sirgurd and Velma Taylor Nasby.
Survivors include five sons, James R. Nasby, Otisco, Johnny Nasby, Jeffersonville, Raymond Nasby, Scottsburg and Windell Nasby and Daniel Nasby, both of Lexington; three daughters, Patricia Nasby, Scottsburg, Wilma Reed, Jeffersonville and Sandra Weaver, Underwood; four brothers, Dale Nasby, Carthage, Max Nasby, Bradenton, Fla., Virgil Nasby, Knightstown and Sevart Nasby, New Whiteland, four sisters, Gina Worgum, Erma Franklin and Nora Dailey, all of Columbus, and Donna Knowles, Machester, Ga.; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren.
He was the son-in-law of the late Rev. and Mrs. Walter Ward, Temple Hill, Ky.; the brother -in-law of Sheldon and Walter Ward Jr. and Cletra Turaska.
Other survivors include Coley and BJ Ward, Louis Cerald, Mary Jane Hall, Marie Ward and Devada Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Catherine Ward Nasby and a son, O. Clifford Nasby.
Visitation was Sunday, July 25, at Temple Hill Baptist Church near Glasgow, Ky.
Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg was in charge of arrangements.
C. Daniel Overholser
90; World War II veteran
Funeral services for C. Daniel Overholser, 90, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. He died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at his home.
He was a native of Galveston and a retired research chemical engineer for Joseph E. Seagram and Sons, Inc., Louisville. He graduated from Rose Polytechnic Institute in 1936 and received his M.S. in Mathematics from Indiana State University in 1940. He was an Army veteran of World War II having retired as a major. He was a member and past president of the Louisville Area Iris Society, a member of the Daylilly Society of Louisville and the Siberian Iris Society. He was also a member and Master Judge of both the American Iris Society and the American hemerocallis Society. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jayne Cureton.
Survivors include two sons, D. Kent Overholser, Malone, N.Y., and C. Daniel Overholser Jr., DDS, Tuscon, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Cindy Meagher, DDS, Brazoria, Texas and James Overholser, Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Bill B. Overholser, Fowler; a sister, Frances Dunkin, Corpus Christi, Texas and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Monday, July 26, at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, also at the funeral home.
Ivan Rodriguez
42; Army veteran
Funeral services for Ivan Rodriguez, 42, of New Albany, will be held in Puerto Rico. He died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was a native of Puerto Rico, an Army veteran and the Executive Housekeeper for Caesars Indiana in Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Fulgensio Maruso De Jesus, and his cousin, Joel Gomez.
Survivors include his wife, Jenny Martinez; two sons, Ivan J. Rodriguez and Nester I. Rodriguez, both of New Albany; one daughter, Jennifer Rodriguez, New Albany; his parents, Felipe Rodriguez and Hortensia De Jesus, Puerto Rico; his grandmother, Paulina Marusa Serrano, Puerto Rico; a brother, Felipe Rodriguez, Puerto Rico and two sisters, Irma and Iris Rodriguez, both of Puerto Rico.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Monday, July 26, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2778 Charlestown Road, New Albany. The Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
