John Stinson
age 84; of Sellersburg
Funeral services for John Stinson, 84, of Sellersburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville. He died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Sellersburg Health and Rehab Center.
He was a native of Grayson County, Ky., was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Disabled American Veteran.
Survivors include Lucille Stinson, Clarksville; two sons, Eugene Stinson, Sellersburg and Jimmy Stinson, New Albany; a sister, Geraldine Johnson, Louisville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 3.
Joseph E. Tanner
age 50; of Clarksville
Funeral services for Joseph E. Tanner, 50, of Clarksville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Clarksville, with cremation to follow. He died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Floyd memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was a native of Greenville, S.C. and a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and Wooded View Golf Course. He served in the Air Force during the Vietname War era and was employed by Public Service as a meter reader for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Schmidt Tanner; two sons, Jeremy and Jeff Tanner, Clarksville; his mother, Jacqueline Beeler Tanner; a sister, June L. Kochert and a brother, Jim Tanner, all of New Albany.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Tanner.
Visitation at Generations Funeral Home, 2209 Ballard Ln., New Albany, will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care of Southern Indiana or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Clarksville.
Shirley M. Prestigiacomo
age 78; of Louisville
Funeral services for Shirley M. Prestigiacomo, 78, of Louisville, will be held at noon Friday, June 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1400 East Washington St., Louisville, with burial in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. Louisville. She died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Parkway Medical Center.
She was the former owner of Prestigiacomo Italian Restaurant.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Louis A. and Monica M. Prestigiacomo; a brother, James Beal; nieces, Mary Frances Wilder and Mary Jo Prestigiacomo; two brothers-in-law, Joseph and Tony Prestigiacomo and a sister-in-law, Joann Allen.
Visitation at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave., Louisville, will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4.

Lonnie M. Banet
age 81; of Georgetown
Funeral services for Lonnie M. Banet, 81, of Georgetown, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday , June 5, at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, with burial in the Edwardsville Cemetery. She died on Monday, June 2, 2003, at her home.
She was a native of Butler County, Ky. and a member of Clifton Baptist Church. She was born on March 4, 1922, the daughter of Edward and Mary Hazelwood Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Banet, Georgetown; sons, David C. Banet, Georgetown and C. W. Huddleston; daughter, Judy A. Smith, Georgetown; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Tomel Robert Douglas
age 11; student at Silver Street Elementary
Funeral services for Romel Robert Douglas, 11, of New Albany, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Jones Memorial AME Zion Church, New Albnay, with burial in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died on Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was a native of New Albany, a student at Silver Street Elementary School, and a member of Lamb of Ministries in New Albany.
Survivors include his mother, Burnetta Douglas; father, Robert T. Bradley; brothers, Mario Douglas and Dnario Douglas; sister, Marie Douglas; grandfather, Otis Taylor (Ella); grandmother, Beatrice Ransom (Kenneth); and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Jones Memorial AME Zion Church, 258 Ealy St. in New Albany.

age 39; of New Albany
Funeral services for Lisa A. Meeks, 39, of New Albany, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Paul V. Shrader Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. She died on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
She was a native of New Albany.
Survivors include her husband, Ben Meeks; daughters, Tabetha R. Rudolph, Kelley Ann Gilley and Jessica N. Meeks; brothers, Jeffrey Sampson, Georgetown, Nicholas Sampson and Dennis Sampson, Scottsburg; sister, Denise Torstrick; and grandchildren, Kaleb, Kayleigh and Kaden Rudolph; and one grandchild "on the way" (Expectant mother, Kelley A. Gilley).
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Charles T. Olsen
age 78; of Georgetown
Funeral services for Charles T. Olsen, 78, of Georgetown, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died on Monday, June 2, 2003, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany.
He was president of Ruthlo Sales Corporation in Georgetown, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth Brantzeg, Georgetown; daughters, Barbara A. Olsen and Kathryn L. Olsen, both of Georgetown; grandchildren, Christopher C. Maguire and Jonathan M. Maguire.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Aletha Wheat
age 97; of Corydon
Funeral services for Aletha Wheat, 97, of Corydon, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery
in Corydon. She died on Monday, June 2, 2003, at Harrison Health and Rehab Center in Corydon.
She was born on June 21, 1905, the daughter of Oscar and Rose Walter Brown, a native of Corydon and a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Donald Wheat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Wheat.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Larue C. Janes
age 83; Purple Heart recipient
Funeral services for Larue C. Janes, 83, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Scott Funeral Home, North Chapel, with burial in Sellersburg Cemetery. He died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired jewler from Hatfield Will Sales. He was a member of Eastside Christian Church, a Marine veteran of World War II and received two purple hearts.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Janes; a son, Michael Janes, Edwardsville, Ill. and a daughter, Lisa Eldridge, Jeffersonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Maggie England Janes.
Visitation at Scott Funeral Home, North Chapel, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, June 6.
