Elizabeth "Betty" M. Brannock, 82, of Evansville, died on February 4, 2008, at Trinity Village.

Betty was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the St. Monica Altar Society. She worked for Sears in the auditing department in the old Downtown store. She also served as a Pink Lady for eight years at St. Mary's Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel "Mickey" Brannock of Evansville; daughter, Marjorie Johnson and her husband, Thomas, of Evansville; brother, Bill Bailey of Austin, Texas; sister, Julie Zem of Sarasota, Fla.; grandson, Eric Johnson and his wife, Deana; and great-grandson, Cooper Thomas Johnson, all of Evansville.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the funeral home with Msgr. Kenneth Knapp officiating. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at Trinity Village for their care of Betty.

Rovena A. Gregg
Born in Eldorado, IL on Sep. 16, 1921

Rovena A. Gregg, 86, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, surrounded, by her daughter and son-in-law.

She was born Rovena Anamae Bixler on September 16, 1921, in Eldorado, IL. The daughter of a coal miner and later Pentecostal minister, she moved from state to state. She graduated from high school in Detroit, MI.

Her parents eventually went to Cleveland, TN, where her father, the Rev. J. A. Bixler became pastor of the South Cleveland Church of God. She enjoyed playing piano, organ, and also singing with friends in a group called the "Victory Five". Cleveland became her home where she married and raised her daughter. She worked as a secretary at the Bowater Paper Plant, and then had a long over 20 year career at Bradley Co. Memorial Hospital, from which she later retired. Rovena always enjoyed working in local elections where she would drive voters to polls, or just pass out cards on the courthouse steps.

Almost 20 years ago, Rovena's daughter and son-in-law moved her to Evansville. Her family always kept her close, watching out for her, living out the last few years across the street from her daughter.

Rovena enjoyed spending time with her daughter, loving her dog Brandy, and two cats Georgie and Lulu, cooking for her family, decorating, and arranging flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Arthur Bixler and Bertha Mae Bixler also her sister, Wanda Bixler.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah L Popham and son-in-law Pete Popham, Jr., of Evansville; her sister Alma Lee Seymour and nephew Buddy A. Bourne, both of Monroe, WA.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron Avenue, with Ronald Koch officiating. Entombment will follow at Park Lawn Mausoleum.

Friends may visit Friday, February 8, 2008, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, and continuing from 12:00 noon to service time Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Drive, Evansville, IN 47710.

Joseph A. Ford
Born in Merrillville, IN on Mar. 11, 1985
Departed on May 10, 2008 and resided in Evansville, IN.

Joseph A. Ford, 23, of New Albany, formerly of Knox, Indiana, passed away while serving in Iraq.

Joe enlisted in the Indiana Army National Guard as an 11 Bravo Infantry soldier assigned to Bravo Troop First Battalion 152nd Cavalry. Serving in Iraq since March 20, 2008, in Bravo Troop as a gunner, he was posthumously promoted as Sergeant and awarded the Bronze Star. He was qualified as an expert gunner at Fort Stewart.

Joe was a history major at USI and participated in ROTC for 3 years. He was an avid reader, devouring books on ancient Greek, Roman, and military history. Joe took fencing classes in high school.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Christina (Grimm) Ford of New Albany, formerly of Evansville; parents, Samuel Harlan Ford and Dalarie Ford of Knox, Indiana; brother, Matthew Ford of Knox, Indiana; sister, Abbey Ambrose and husband, Brian, of Plymouth, Indiana; his grandparents, Orvil and Loretta Slone of Lima, Ohio, and Sadie Ford of Wellston, Ohio; and his pet cats, Ragamuffin and Aramina.

Visitation will be Monday, May 19, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., for family and friends. A public memorial service will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Indiana National Guard Armory on the Lloyd Expressway. A military service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Central Chapel for family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Family Readiness Group of New Albany for support of deployed families.

Virginia Kremer
Born on Jan. 19, 1921
Departed on Oct. 24, 2011 and resided in Evansville, IN.

Virginia "Ginny" Kremer, 90, of Evansville passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Home.

Ginny was a graduate of Memorial High School and University of Evansville where she received her Masters Degree. She taught at Corpus Christi and Christ the King Schools. She was a life long member of Assumption Catholic Church and member of Holy Trinity Pro Cathedral. Ginny was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and Queens daughters Altar Society of Holy Trinity.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Norbert in 1995 and daughter Patricia Legate in 1998.

She is survived by her sons Thomas Kremer and wife Connie and Michael Kremer all of Evansville; grandsons Chris, Andy and Nick Kremer, Mark Legate; granddaughters Katie Kremer, Julie Gore, Erin Murrell, Joanna Kremer, Kaitlyn Pieper, Susie Legate, Jennifer Green and Marty Scheman; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville, IN 4771 with a memorial service at 7:00 pm.

Funeral service will begin at 9:30 am Friday, October 28, 2011 at the funeral home continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Friday at Holy Trinity Pro Cathedral, 305 Court Street, Evansville, IN 47708 with Fr. Jay Davidson officiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery.

Roger A. Garrett

Roger A. Garrett, 53, of Evansville, passed away Thursday October 20, at his home.

Roger loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was a member of Painters Local Union 156.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E., his father, Roger E. Garrett and step-mother Donna; children Tabatha Berry (John) of Kentucky, Donnie Elderbrook ( Erica) and Christopher Elderbrook both of Evansville, IN; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters Vicki R. Davis ( Kevin), Connie M. Reader ( David), Sherri Nulton, ( Rusty), and Donna J. Garrett; brothers Derrick E. Garrett and (JoAnn), Tony Garrett, Scott Hurm, and many nieces and nephews.

Roger is preceded in death by his mother Delores F. (Raleigh) Garrett and his sister Karen Leistner.

Visitation will be Thursday October, 27, 2011, at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville, IN, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m.

Deryl Dyhouse, 75, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at Cypress Grove Health Center on Sunday, October 23, 2011.

Although a native of Evansville, Deryl spent a number of his younger years in Rockport, IN. He owned and operated Rockport Lumber Company from 1964-1978.

He retired from Kight Lumber in Evansville. He was a member of Bethel Temple Community Church. The Bible Fellowship Class at Bethel, Rockport Masonic Lodge #112, Rockport American Legion Post #254.

Surviving are his daughter Lori (Brad) Chastain of Clarksville, GA, son Kevin (Susan) Dyhouse of Cincinnati, OH, sister Shirley (Corbett) Hornbeck of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren; Collin Slep, Stacy Dyhouse, Eric Dyhouse, Casey Chastain, Jacob Chastain, Nick Tudor, Krista Collins; great-grandchildren; Kendal Collins, Leah Collins.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastors from Bethel Temple officiating.

Burial will be in Park Lawn cemetery.

Jerry M. Barron
Born in Evansville on Jun. 17, 1935

Jerry M. Barron, 72, of Newburgh, formerly of Evansville passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle against cancer.

Jerry was a Supervisor at Keller Crescent and retired in1997 after 43 years. He was a 1953 graduate of Mater Dei High School and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing golf and had two holes-in-one. He also enjoyed gardening, playing in Clabber tournaments and vacationing in Florida. In his youth he played drums in a band.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Sara (Lindsey) Barron; sons, Tom and wife Sheri Barron of Evansville, and Chris Barron of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; daughter Jeri Ann and husband Rick Jones of Newburgh; brother, Steve and wife Susan Barron of Evansville; sister, Margaret Barron of Evansville; grandchildren Lee, Jock, Landon, and Tyler Barron, and Chad, Sara, and Barron Jones; great-grandson Eli Barron; brother in law Bill Phillips; sisters in law Dorothy and June Barron, Betty Boeglin and husband Joe of Anderson, IN; Mary Jo Schilling-Poma and Lou of Pagosa Springs, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by a son, Gregory Neil Barron; parents, Fred and Dorothy Barron; sister, Jeanine Phillips, and brothers, Fred and Jim Barron.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., with Fr. Claude Burns officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008 at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
