ROCKPORT, Ind. - Steve "Geech" Meredith, 53, of Rockport died Friday, July 2, 2004, at his home.
Steve was born in Richland, Ind., on Sept. 25, 1950, to the late Martin E. and Pearl (Simmons) Meredith. He was a Korean Conflict veteran.
Surviving are a son, Matthew Meredith of Owensboro; two daughters, Mandy and Carla Meredith, both of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Crystal Thurman of Owensboro; four brothers, Martin "Butch" and Jeff Meredith, both of Reo, Ind., David Meredith of Grandview, Ind., and Johnny Meredith of Patronville, Ind.; two sisters, Vicki Meyer of Chrisney, Ind., and Renee Schaefer of Grandview, Ind.; one stepgrandchild; ex-wife, Eileen Meredith of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Coomer officiating. Burial in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spencer County Hospice.
Ruth C. Orth

CHANDLER, Ind. - Ruth C. Orth, 82, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at her residence in Chandler. Ruth was born Jan. 7, 1922, at Stevenson Station to Charles and Lottie (Vann) Espenlaub. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Boonville, Ind. Ruth retired from Deaconess Hospital after 35 years of service. Ruth was a member of Artist Guild and enjoyed painting for her family and enjoyed traveling and reading all the books in the Chandler Library. Preceding Ruth in death are two brothers, Carl and Oscar Espenlaub; and her husband, George Orth, in 1984.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Raymond and her husband, Ronnie, of Lewisport, Patricia Arnold and her husband, Tom, of Lamar, Ind., and Beverly Sue Gammon and her husband, Gary, of Tobinsport, Ind.; two sisters, Rae Miller and her husband, Thomas, of Mattoon, Ill., and Imojean Cox of Evansville; a brother, Harold Espenlaub and his wife, Jean, of Newburgh; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Koehler Funeral Home, Perigo chapel, 7022 Heim Road, Chandler. The service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Shofner. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery in Evansville. Friends may call today from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure.

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Norma J. Partridge, 69, of Rockport died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Survivors include five daughters, Rose Anna Lasher, Rebecca Gentry, Renee Partridge, Rachael Risse and Robin Kaye Philipps; and a brother, Wyman B. Houston.

Robert E. Moore

LYNNVILLE, Ind. - Robert E. Moore was born Aug. 25th, 1930, in Lynnville to James (Jack) and Sarah Moore. He was president of his senior class and a basketball player for the Lynnville Lindies during high school. He retired from Alcoa in 1993 after 27 years in mechanical maintenance. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, a member of the National Rifle Association, the Tonkinese Breed Association and an avid NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin; his parents; and a brother, Charles W. Moore.
He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 27 years; six sons, Jeff (Debbie) of Newburgh, Keith of Oakland City, Stacy (Tracie) of Marion, Ill., Rob (Heather) of Mount Carmel, Shane (Sherri) of Evansville; a daughter, Kathy, of Florida; and a stepson, Robert Raymer (Kim) of Houston. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Bronson, Danielle, Christopher, Ryan, Nadine, Whitney, Kerby, Tara, Shane, Merzie, Christa, Bhrett, Kelsey, Trenton and Tyler; and two great-grandchildren, Max and Blake. He is also survived by a brother, Jim Moore of Little Rock, Ark.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Alexander Funeral Home, Newburgh Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery in Newburgh. Friends may call today, July 26, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. RICHLAND, Ind. - Kathleen J. Roll, 55, of Richland died Friday, July 16, 2004, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Kathleen was born on June 15, 1949, to Sidney and Christine (Fortenberry) Loveless. She was a cook and member of Peace Lutheran Church in Owensboro.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Patrick; three sons, Patrick James Roll, Michael Stanley Roll and John Thomas Roll, all of Richland; her father, Sidney Loveless of Park Forest, Ill.; her mother, Christine W. Duffield of Taft, Texas; a sister, Penny A. McGuire of Park Forest; a brother, Thomas N. Loveless of Dallas; and four grandchildren, Mandy D. Roll, Dakota L. Campbell, Colton J. Roll and Elijah M. Roll.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday, July 19, at Peace Lutheran Church in Owensboro, with the Rev. G. F. Hallman officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport, Ind. SANTA CLAUS, Ind. - Mary Elizabeth Wedding, 84, of Santa Claus died Thursday, July 23, 2004, at her daughter's home. Mary was born on March 5, 1920, in Pellville to the late Emmett and Edna (Ruark) Jackson. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart G. Wedding in 1974.
Surviving are two sons, Darrel Wedding of Newburgh, Ind., and Wyman Wedding of Evansville; two daughters, Beverly Smith of Santa Claus and Mary Rigsby of Overland Park, Kan.; two brothers, Allen Jackson of Evansville and Louis Jackson of Rockport, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport with the Rev. Robert Nall officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. John R. Coombs

NEWBURGH, Ind. - John R. Coombs, 88, of Newburgh died at his residence Sunday, July 25, 2004. Born in St. Louis on June 1, 1916, he received dual degrees in petroleum and geological engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He was an independent geological engineer. He was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a member of the church choir.
Services for John will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 27, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 720 Ford Ave., Owensboro, Viewing will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be Wednesday, July 28, in Louisville at Cave Hill cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Conrad Lee Brown

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. - Conrad Lee "Lum" Brown, age 79, of East Chicago passed away at home on Wednesday, July 14, 2004. He is survived by his son, Conrad Jr. (Marie) of Merrillville, Ind., and daughter, Elizabeth of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Ryan (Tosha), Stacey, Nicole and Megan; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Claradine (nee Boyd); parents, Ellis and Maude (nee Calloway), brothers Ellis B and Clifford Owen; and a sister, Mildred.
Conrad was born February 20, 1925, in Centertown and moved to East Chicago in 1955. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hammond, Ind.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, had served in the Philippines and was part of the occupation forces in Japan following their surrender. Conrad retired from LTV Steel after 27 years of service. He was a 50-year member of East Chicago Lodge #595 F&AM. A member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend and Kentucky Chapter #78 Order of the Eastern Star.
Conrad was a devoted husband, kind father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Visitation was on Sunday, July 18 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schereville, IN. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2004, with the Rev. Pete Ward officiating. Burial followed at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schereville.
Irene Riley

TELL CITY, Ind. - Irene Riley, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at CORE Nursing & Rehabilitation in Huntingburg, Ind. She was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Perry County to the late Robert and Margaret (Sweat) Beck. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Albert Riley, in 1980; a sister, Elsie Gogel; a brother, Wayne Beck; and a grandson, Gary Riley. Irene formerly worked at Lipp's Furniture Store and Ken-Rad. She was of the Catholic faith, a graduate of Tell City High School and enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing.
Irene is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife, Velma Riley, of Hawesville and Ron and his wife, Lee Ann Riley, of Tell City; a daughter, Sharon and her husband, Raymond Merkley, of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Angela Merkley Howell, Karen Merkley Taber, Tim R. Merkley, Charles, Randy, Brenda, Nathan and Cassi Riley; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th St., Tell City, Ind. The Rev. Carl Deitchman, OSB, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the CORE Nursing & Rehabilitation Activity Fund.

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Sophia E. Phillips, 89, of Rockport died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Specialty Hospital in Evansville.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Phillips, Walter Phillips and James Phillips; and a daughter, Alta May Davis.

Paula Frailley

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Paula Frailley, 55, of 1026 N. County Road, 450 West, Rockport, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She was born March 20, 1949, to the late Dean O. and Betty Parker James in Daviess County. She was formerly a nurse at Owensboro Medical Health System, working in several different departments, and had spent her life in health care. She was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Society and a former member of Kentucky Nurses Association. Paula loved horseback riding, reading, camping and caring for people. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Richard G. Frailley of Rockport; a son, Brian and his wife, Pam, Frailley of Maceo; two daughters, Beth Dennis and her husband, Robert, of Owensboro and Bridget Maxie and her husband, Shawn, of Paducah; three grandchildren, Brianna Nicole Frailley, Emilee Hope Dennis and Evan Scott Dennis; her stepmother, Marie B. James of Owensboro; three brothers, Dr. Steven James of San Diego, John M. James of Vienna, Va., and Patrick L. James of Salt Lake City; a stepbrother, David E. Ford of Philpot; a stepsister, Susan VanBusKirk of Nashville; and a brother-in-law, Clarence and Georgia Frailley of Fort Valley, Ga.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Owensboro Christian Church, with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
