TELL CITY, Ind. - Herman W. Peters, 75, of Tell City died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from respiratory failure. The Leopold, Ind., native owned and operated Herman Peters Inc. for 52 years and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Pius Church and the American Legion Post 213. He enjoyed traveling, farming and his pipe.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joyce Peters; six daughters, Marlene Rhodes, Beverly Keller, Laverne Peter, Brenda Zoglman and Patricia Gelarden, all of Tell City, and Rebecca LeClere of Troy, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Augustine Church cemetery in Leopold, with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 213. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Perry County (Ind.) Memorial Hospital.
Maxine Roberts

HATFIELD, Ind. - Maxine Roberts, 80, of Evansville, formerly of Hatfield, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. The Fort Branch, Ind., native was a machinist for Zenith Electronic Corp. and was a former member of Hatfield United Methodist Church. Her husband, Monty Roberts, died in 1981.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Roberts of Russellville, Terry Roberts of Charlestown, Ind., and Robin Roberts of Hatfield; three daughters, Sherry West and Becky Barker, both of Evansville, and Brenda Saddler of Long Grove, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Noble and Iris Boston, both of Evansville.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hatfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind., and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Arthritis Foundation.
Alice Martine Tharp

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Alice Martine Tharp, 75, of Jeffersonville, Ind., formerly of Rockport, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville. She was a homemaker and member Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Sheldon Tharp; a son, Russell I. Tharp of Jeffersonville; three daughters, Mary Annette Bagshaw of Jeffersonville, Karen Lee Tharp of Borden, Ind., and Nancy Faye Byrd of New Albany, Ind.; four grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marguerite Wilkinson of Rockport.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 8 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Donald R. Kincaid

TELL CITY, Ind. - Donald R. Kincaid, 58, of Tell City died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville from a cranial hemorrhage. The Cannelton, Ind., native worked at Hartz Construction in Owensboro as a construction superintendent for more than 15 years and attended Troy Christian Church. He graduated from Cannelton High School in 1961 and enjoyed collecting coins and knives, auctions, NASCAR and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Beverly Zuelly Kincaid; four sons, Christopher Kincaid of Greenwood, Ind., Gregory Kincaid of Tell City, Todd Kincaid of Beech Grove, Ind., and Eric Kincaid of Lebanon, Ohio; four grandchildren; his mother, Bessie Kincaid of Cannelton; and two sisters, Janice Braun of Grandview, Ind., and Connie Palmer of Troy, Ind.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Riley's Christian Hospital or Troy Christian Church.

ROCHESTER, Ind. - Vada A. Chapman, 80, of Rochester, formerly of McHenry, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester. The Wabash County, Ind., native was a member of Springhill Baptist Church in Paris, Tenn., and retired from General Tire Corp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ray Chapman in Oct., 1992; and a daughter, Geneva Hastings.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hipskind of Macy, Ind., and Judy Tremblay of Ontario, Canada; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at McClain Funeral Home in Denver, Ind. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Render Memorial cemetery in McHenry. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

HAMMOND, Ind. - David Scott Welch, 40, of Hammond, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native worked at Howard's Tree Service in Hammond and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Robert Allen Welch and Betty Gilstrip Welch of Ohio County; his mother and stepfather, Herbert Worth and Ruby Carter Worth of Owensboro; a brother, James Allen Welch of Owensboro; two sisters, Sharon Griffith and Norma Welch, both of Owensboro; a nephew; two nieces; two aunts; and two great-nieces.
Services are at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Utica cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to David Welch Memorial Fund.
John T. Petheram

TELL CITY, Ind. - John T. Petheram, 103, of Tell City died there Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center. The Biddisham, England, native retired from SIGECO in Evansville as a steam engineer and was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1424 in Tell City for more than 50 years. He came to the United States in 1913 and became a naturalized citizen in 1942. He was preceded in death by his wives, Hazel Petheram and Nell Sauter Petheram.
Survivors include several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

EVANSTON, Ind. - Irene H. Polster, 73, of Evanston died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Perry County (Ind.) Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind. The Evanston native retired from General Electric in Tell City after 40 years of service. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Evanston and enjoyed singing in the church choir, quilting, vegetable gardening and flower gardening.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Polster of Evanston; five nephews; and five nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery in Lamar, Ind. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. INDIANAPOLIS - Edith Rice Emerson, 74, of Indianapolis, formerly of Fordsville, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. The Ohio County native was a housewife and member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Emerson; a son, James Embry of St. Louis; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services are at 2 p.m. today at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Friendship Church of Christ cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

TELL CITY, Ind. - Evelyn L. Graham, 92, of Tell City died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Bon Harbor Nursing Home in Owensboro. The Mulhall, Okla., native was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Owensboro and enjoyed raising roses, square dancing, crafts, camping, ceramics and printing. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oliver T. Turbyfill; her second husband, Claude W. Ennis; a son, Robert O. Turbyfill; and a daughter, Nell Claudette Caisse.
Survivors include her husband, George P. Graham of Owensboro; a daughter, Gail Hoesli of Tell City; a stepdaughter, Barbara Fasclo of Newton, N.J.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Taylor of Houston; and a sister, Hazel Thomas of Dallas.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Melissa Phillips, 32, of Jacksonville died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001. The Owensboro native was a member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include her father of Eddie Phillips of Indiana; her mother and stepfather, Sue and Steve Malicoat of Jacksonville; a brother, Darren Phillips of Louisville; a sister, Jenny Phillips of Jacksonville; a stepbrother, Steve Malicoat; several nephews and nieces; and several cousins.
Memorial services are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. The body was cremated.
