NEWTONVILLE, Ind. - Helen Hasenmeyer, 85, of Newtonville died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Deaconess St. Joseph's Hospital in Huntingburg, Ind. The Grandview, Ind., native was a certified nurse's assistant and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Newtonville and Gideon International Bible Society. Her husband, Paul Hasenmeyer, died in 1985.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Kramer of Newtonville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church in Newtonville. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist cemetery in Newtonville. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind., and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to New Hope Baptist Church or Gideon International Bible Society.
Madge Atkinson Brown

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Madge Atkinson Brown, 75, of Rockport died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at her home from natural causes. The Rockport native was a homemaker and member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport. She enjoyed gardening, animals and singing in the choir. Her husband, Jay R. Brown, died in 1990.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Atkinson and John Atkinson, both of Rockport, and David Atkinson of Owensboro; two daughters, Gretchen Adkisson of Rockport and Rachel Byrd of Owensboro; two stepdaughters, Laurel B. Montgomery and Kathryn B. Williams; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Virginia Lutgring of St. Marks, Ind.
Services are pending at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Bernard's School Scholarship Fund or any charity of choice.

CORYDON, Ind. - James B. Jackson, 80, of Corydon died there Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Harrison Health and Rehabilitation Center. The Cromwell native was a retired Farm Home administrator, a member of Corydon United Methodist Church and an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Drake Jackson; two sons, Steve Jackson and Bill Jackson, both of Louisville; three grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Jackson and Frankin Jackson, both of Beaver Dam; and a sister, Dorothy Watkins of Louisville.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, Ind. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Corydon United Methodist Church or A.L.S. DEXTER, Ind. - Elbert R. Ewing, 67, of Dexter died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at his home from an apparent heart attack. The Dexter native retired from Ewing & Hall Machine Shop in Jeffersonville, Ind., in 1975 and was a farmer. He was a member of United States Team Roping Conference and enjoyed trading and collecting items, especially horse tack. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends and playing cards. A daughter, Dawn Star Ewing, died in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Marilyn Richert Ewing of Derby, Ind.; two sons, Kevin Ewing of Harrisburg, Pa., and John Ewing of Derby, Ind.; a daughter, Kim Howerton of Tell City, Ind.; three grandchildren; and a brother, William C. Ewing of Midland, Mich.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Burial will be in Stephenson cemetery near Dexter. James 'Bat' Masterson

ROCKPORT, Ind. - James "Bat" Masterson, 69, of Rockport died Friday, July 27, 2001, at his home of cancer. The Evansville native was a carpenter. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Local 90 Indiana Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights of Evansville and was a life member of American Legion Post 258 of Rockport.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Grace Masterson; a son, Thomas Kevin Masterson of Rockport; three daughters, Angela Kay Hart and Karen Sue Davis, both of Rockport, and Cynthia Gay Cameron of Richland, Ind.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Stateler of Rockport.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Flora Schmidt Nix Tower

CANNELTON, Ind. - Flora Schmidt Nix Tower, 93, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at her daughter's home in Evansville. The Deer Creek native retired from the Evansville State Hospital in 1973 as a nurse's aid. She enjoyed flowers, playing the piano and animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Tower, and a son Robert "Bob" Nix.
Survivors include two sons, James Nix of Tell City, Ind., and Glen Tower of Evansville; two daughters, Dorothy Nix Lasher and Margaret Tower Ingle, both of Evansville; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one nephew; and two nieces.
Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. Burial will be in St. John cemetery near Rome, Ind. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Loraine R. Dickman

JASPER, Ind. - Loraine R. Dickman, 80, of Jasper died Friday, July 27, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. The Tell City, Ind., native retired in 1988 from Kimball International after 40 years, previously worked at Tell City Furniture Co. and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a World War II Army veteran, member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed cards, baseball and fishing. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Dilger Dickman.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Holman Dickman; a son, R. Edward Dickman of Tell City; a daughter, Darla J. Sallee of Bloomington, Ind.; a stepson, Michael Smith of Winslow, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Ardella Foster of Tupelo, Miss., and Deborah Mulzer of Tell City; nine grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Dickman of Jasper and George Dickman of Noblesville, Ind.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Fairview cemetery in Jasper. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Parish prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Moose Lodge memorial service will follow. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Paul or St. Joseph catholic churches.

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. - James E. Scott, 80, of Clarksville died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. The Sacramento native retired as owner of Scott's Inc. of Holland, Mich., and Douglas, Mich., and Cramco Inc. in Amory, Miss. He was a member of Morton Memorial Church in Clarksville and American Legion in Holland. He was a Kentucky Colonel and past exalted ruler of Jeffersonville Elks Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Latham Scott; two sons, James F. Scott of Eugene, Ore., and Ernest R. Scott of Charlestown, Ind.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Latas of Holland.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento. Interment will be in Scott cemetery in Sacramento. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. EDT today at Scott Funeral Home Jeffersonville, Ind., and from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Tucker Memorial Chapel.
Veneta M. Ballis

TELL CITY, Ind. - Veneta M. Ballis, 47, of Tell City died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at her home from cancer. The Tell City native was administrative secretary and chief matron of Perry County Sheriff's Department until she retired in March due to illness. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Tell City and enjoyed collecting teacups and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar Ballis Jr.; a son, Kevin Clausen of Tell City; a daughter, Kelly Ingle of Troy, Ind.; two stepsons, Kevin Ballis of Tell City and John Ballis of San Diego; six stepdaughters, Melissa McManaway and Tammy Marshall, both of Tell City, Gwenn Sims of Covington, Bonnie Williams of Arkansas, Kim Haney of North Carolina and Jessica Sturgeon of Eckerty, Ind.; two grandchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; her father, Paul Shrewsberry of Hardinsburg; four brothers, Darrell Russell of Doland Springs, Ariz., Kenneth Shrewsberry of Cloverport and Mark Shrewsberry and Allen Shrewsberry, both of Hardinsburg; four sisters, Gina Kellems of Tell City, Glenda Masterson of Rockport, Mary Ann Flamion of Jasper, Ind., and Karen Shrewsberry of Hardinsburg; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. TELL CITY, Ind. - Gertrude Sandage, 93, of Tell City died there Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center. The Tell City native had been an inspector for William Tell Woodcrafters in Tell City and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton, Ind. She was a member of St. Ann's Society, Tobinsport Homemakers Club and Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon DeWitt.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Fulkerson and Patricia Van Coney, both of Cannelton; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Robinson of Tell City.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. BOONVILLE, Ind. - Brian J. "Bub" Sivolella, 24, of Boonville died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, Ind., from cerebral palsy. He attended special education multiple handicap class at Castle High School.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Daniel and Nell Sivolella of Powderly; his mother and stepfather, Debbie and Richard Aldridge of Boonville; his grandparents, James and Norma Rhinerson of Newburgh; his stepgrandmother, Dorothy Helms of Boonville; a sister, Amanda Sivolella of Newburgh; a stepbrother, Phillip Landers of Central City; and two stepsisters, Ruthie Commancho of Bremen and Cindy Eaves of Central City.
