DALE, Ind. -- Eloise "Bebe" Sisley, 88, of Dale died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Waters of Huntingburg in Huntingburg, Ind. The Clay City, Ind., native retired from Dale State Bank after 26 years, graduated from Lockyears Business College in 1930 and was a member of Rebecca Lodge for 70 years. She attended and was confirmed at St. John's United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Webb in 1973; and a stepson, John Webb.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Sisley; a stepson, Maurice Webb of Saraland, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Carrie Mae Crews of Gentryville, Ind., and Nellie Catherine Weller of Rescue, Fla.; a sister, Irene Shrouds of Valparaiso, Fla.; and seven nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory, Dale chapel. Burial will be in Dale cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial services will be conducted by Rebecca Lodge at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James Gordon Haynes

WHITING, Ind. -- James Gordon Haynes, 65, of Whiting died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at his home of cancer. The Fordsville native worked at LTV Steel for 44 years, was an Army veteran and enjoyed travel, camping, gardening, birding, environmental and civil liberties issues, music from all decades and cats. He was a member of United Steelworkers of America Local 1011 and many environmental and civil liberties organizations.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Charlotte Hall Haynes; a sister, Bettye Smith of Hartford; several nephews and nieces; several uncles, an aunt, and several cousins.

There are no services or visitation. The body was cremated. Baran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, Hospice of Calumet Region, Fried's Cat Shelter, Grand Calumet Task Force, Calumet Chapter of the Indiana Civil Liberties Union or a favorite charity.

ROCKPORT, Ind. -- Amel Scales, 89, of Rockport died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. The Richland, Ind., native was a real estate broker, member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Rockport, Eureka Masonic Lodge in Eureka, Ind., Hadi Shrine in Evansville and Scottish Rite in Evansville. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, a member of Ironmen of Metz and a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Betty Cotton Scales; a son, William Barney Scales of Owensboro; a stepson, Jim Boyd of Decatur, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Jeri Ann Capezza of Apelousas, La., and Peggy Coomer of Rockport, Ind.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a half brother, Donald Scales of Boonville, Ind.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery in Richland, Ind. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 254. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Trinity United Methodist Church, Rockport, Ind.

CANNELTON, Ind. -- Evelyn M. Stowe Young, 67, of Cannelton died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand, Ind., from complications from recent aneuryism surgery. The Perry County, Ind., native retired from Schwab Safe Co. in Cannelton after 20 years, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cannelton and enjoyed quilting, cooking, traveling, gardening and her grandchildren. Her daughter, Cheryl Young, died in 1978.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Shelby Young; two sons, Duane D. Young of Fresno, Calif., and Timothy W. Young of Hawesville; four grandchildren; and a brother, Maurice Stowe of Cannelton.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Cannelton. Burial will be in New Cliff cemetery in Cannelton. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton chapel. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First United Methodist Church.

Liling W. Graham

CHRISNEY, Ind. -- Liling W. Graham, 45, of Chrisney died Monday, May 21, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg, Ind., from cancer. The Evansville native was a homemaker, a member and worship leader at Owensboro Covenant Church and a member of Spencer County (Ind.) Home Educators.

Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Louis V. Graham; two sons, Levi J. Graham and Daniel L. Graham, both of Chrisney; a daughter, Leah A. Graham of Chrisney; a stepson, Brett Graham of Illinois; a grandchild; her mother, YetGan Wong; two brothers, Tom Wong of Chicago and Don Wong of Napa, Calif.; and a sister, Mona Coles of Pensacola, Fla.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Chrisney. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

RICHLAND, Ind. -- Henry L. Christensen, 78, of Richland died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at his home from congestive heart failure. The Gary, Minn., native was a foreman for Denton Construction Co. in Warren, Mich., for 41 years and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wilma Christensen; a son, Ron Christensen of Loveland, Colo.; a daughter, Linda Krantz of Hatfield, Ind.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Obert Christensen of Hudson, Ind.; and two sisters, Vivian Christensen of Cynthiana, Ind., and Helen Swenson of Sterling Heights, Mich.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in James Parker cemetery in Hatfield, Ind. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hatfield United Methodist Church Building Fund.

ROME, Ind. -- Helen Hanks, 54, of Rome died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind. The Rome native enjoyed fishing and animals.

Survivors include a son, Lee Hanks of Rome; her father, Robert E. Hanks of Rome; a brother, Robert O. Hanks of Cannelton, Ind.; and three nieces.

Services and burial will be at a later date. Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Ohio Valley Animal Shelter.

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Sylvia Little, 75, of Tell City died there Friday, May 4, 2001, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. The Tell City native retired from General Electric in 1986 after 32 years of service.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Shirley Edward Little; two sons, Kent Little of Lewisport and John D. Little of Tell City; two daughters, Linda "Jody" Gelarden of Rocky Point, Ind., and Jenny Sissom of Greenwood, Ind.; four grandsons; and six granddaughters.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Visiting Nurse Association.

DALE, Ind. -- Kenneth Levenhagen, 85, of Dale died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was a LaPorte, Ind., native.

There are no survivors.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory, Dale chapel. Burial will be in Dale cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

Anelka Lee Anderson Gatto

CANNELTON, Ind. -- Anelka Lee Anderson Gatto, 73, of Indianapolis died there Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Community Hospital North. The Cannelton native was a secretary for Indianapolis Life Insurance Company. She owned Anelka Antiques at Shadeland Antique Mall and retired in 1999. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a graduate of Cannelton High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore J. Gatto Jr.

Survivors include four sons, Michael J. Gatto, Christopher W. Gatto and Matthew J. Gatto, all of Indianapolis, and John R. Gatto of Cape Coral, Fla.; four daughters, Janice M. Williamson of Indianapolis, Rebecca B. McGrath and Annette M. Wright, both of Greenwood, Ind., and Laura H. Rettig of Castleton, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and a brother, John W. Anderson of Hudson, N.Y.

Services are private. Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Cannelton is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Anelka Lee Gatto Memorial Fund, c/o Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 North Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46219.

GRANDVIEW, Ind. -- Ruth Bennett, 76, of Grandview died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from cancer. The Rockport, Ind., native was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Ralph Bennett; a daughter, Sharon F. Schweizer of Grandview; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
