TROY, Ind. - James H. Dowell, 70, of Troy died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind. He was born in Harlan County and retired from Owensboro Sand & Gravel in 1991, where he was a river barge mate. He was preceded in death by two sons in infancy; a daughter, Connie Jo Kratzer; and a daughter in infancy.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Violet Sims Dowell; two sons, Junior Dowell of Cannelton, Ind., and Tim Kratzer of Tell City; a daughter, Amanda Harper of Troy; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd Dowell of Irvington.
Services are at 11 a.m. EST Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Burial will be in Lilly Dale cemetery in Gatchel, Ind. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. EST today and after 8 a.m. EST Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Lilly Dale cemetery. Phyllis M. Hall Hay

DANVILLE, Ind. - Phyllis M. Hall Hay, 46, of Danville, formerly of Cannelton, Ind., died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at Manor Care South in Indianapolis. She was born in Virginia and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Hay; two daughters, Anita M. Cains and Dawn M. Cains; three grandchildren; a brother, Mark Hall; and four sisters, Diane Witlock, Mae Hodges, Lisa Hicks and Brenda Hall.
There will be no services. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. EST Monday at Singleton & Herr Mortuary in Indianapolis.
Michael C. O'Neill

TELL CITY, Ind. - Michael C. O'Neill, 51, of Tell City died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at his home from cancer. He was born in Coudersport, Pa., was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served from 1966 to 1970 and was assigned two tours, and was an industrial carpenter with Rust Constructors of Birmingham, Ala. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Ridgway, Pa., and Ohio River Valley Bow Hunters Club.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Severance O'Neill; three daughters, Susan, Amy and Laura, all of Colorado; a stepson, William Fowler of Johnsonburg, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Fowler of Tell City; five grandchildren; and a sister, Annamarie O'Neill of Ridgway.
Services will be held at a later date in Ridgway. Huber Funeral Home in Tell City is in charge of local arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Perry County Memorial Hospital Home Health. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Hattie B. Abshier

ROCKPORT, Ind. - Hattie B. Abshier, 95, of Rockport died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Fairway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Evansville. She was born in Grandview, Ind., and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Claude Abshier, in 1967.
Survivors include three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Rockport. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

TROY, Ind. - Laura Irene Siscel, 88, of Troy, Ind., died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind. She was a resident of Spencer County, Ind., for over 80 years and was employed at Ken-Rad and General Electric Co. in Tell City for over 40 years.
Survivors include a sister, Ethel Mills of Troy.
Graveside services are at 10:30 a.m. EST Tuesday at Troy City cemetery. There will be no visitation. Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either the Perry County Memorial Hospital or the American Heart Association. RICHLAND, Ind. - Lenny D. Battreal, 19, of Richland died Monday, April 12, 1999, at his home. He was born in Owensboro and was a student at South Spencer High School in Rockport, Ind.
Survivors include his mother, Nancy Battreal of Richland.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery in Richland. Visitation is after noon Thursday at the funeral home.

JASPER, Ind. - Donald Hite, 59, of Jasper died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was born in Owensboro and retired from McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis after 27 years.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Jean Gibson Merkley Hite; a son, Steven Hite of Maryland; and a daughter, Pam Hite of Annapolis, Md.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Becher & Kluesner Funeral Homes Inc. in Jasper is in charge of arrangements.

HATFIELD, Ind. - Ivadene Fulks Scott, 92, of Hatfield, Ind., died Friday, April 30, 1999, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She was born in Eureka, Ind., was a nursing assistant and a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Newburgh, Ind.
Survivors include four daughters, Corene Lloyd of Hatfield, Nina Jenkins of Newburgh, Doris Getty of Henderson, Nev., and Florence Leitner of Ocala, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lemler of Kenai, Alaska.

TELL CITY, Ind. - Lori Sue Turner, 36, of Tell City died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Welborn Baptist Hospital in Evansville from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. She attended Tell City High School, was employed by Best Chairs in Ferdinand, Ind., and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. She enjoyed camping.
Survivors include her companion, Tom Morphew of Tell City; a son, Daniel Turner of Greencastle, Ind.; a daughter, Christen Turner of Tell City; her parents, Christie and Charlene "Tom" Eger Brumfield of Tell City; four brothers, Paul W. Brumfield and Pat Brumfield, both of Tell City, Chuck Brumfield of Troy, Ind., and Mike Brumfield of Rome, Ind.; and a sister, Sharla Goffinet of Cannelton, Ind.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. A parish prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. TELL CITY, Ind. - Johanna "Hannah" Schriefer, 96, of Evansville, formerly of Tell City, died Monday, May 3, 1999, at St. Mary Medical Center in Evansville. She was born in Tell City and was a homemaker. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City and the Columbia Rebekah Lodge 314. Her husband of 46 years, Harold Schriefer, died March 18, 1975.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Schriefer of Pleasanton, Calif.; a daughter, Georgia Lee McRae of Evansville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Survivors include her husband, James L. Harris; two daughters, Angela Newton of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Janet Merritt of Tell City, Ind.; one grandchild; and her mother, Elnora Harrell of Crandall.
