William K. Denton Jr.
age 53; of Charlestown
Funeral services for William K. Denton Jr., 53, of Charlestown, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Scott Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Jeffersonville and was employed by B.F. Goodrich/L.C. Nadorff & Son. He was a member of American Legion, Charlestown Post.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Denton; two sons, Aaron W. and Travis E. Denton, Charlestown; daughter-in-law, Carrie M. Denton, Charlestown; his mother, Betty Denton, Jeffersonville and a grandson, Jordan Denton, Charlestown.
He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Denton Sr.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.
Loren "Tom" Frakes Sr.
age 80; of Henryville
Funeral services for Loren "Tom" Frakes Sr., 80, of Henryville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with interment at Bowery Cemetery, Memphis. He died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Medical Center of Southern Indiana.
He was a retired tower operator for Colgate Palmolive Co., Clarksville and a member of Charlestown Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include four sons, Allen W. Frakes, Tellico Plains, Tenn., Loren Frakes Jr., Vandalia, Ill., Robert E. Frakes, Henryville and Douglas R. Frakes, New Washington; two daughters, Carolyn M. Lehman, Henryville and Jeniece K. Frakes, Rockville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 6.
Walter W. Goins
age 59; of Jeffersonville
Funeral services for Walter W. Goins, 59, of Jeffersonville, were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Coots Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Ages, Ky., a retired machinist at CSX Railroad and was a member of Past Master DePaul Lodge No. 338 Shrine and Scottish Rite and Aamed Grotto.
Survivors include his wife, Marie E. Goins, Jeffersonville; a daughter, Laquata Jones, Jeffersonville; five brothers, Bart L. and Gary Goins, Lynch, Ky., Curtis E. Goins, LaGrange, Ky., Bob Goins, Tallahassee, Fla., and Joe Goins, Richmond, Ky.; three sisters, Betty A. Wilder and Sharon Nesmith, Tallahassee, Fla.; and Wanda S. Sergent, Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Thomas.
Visitation was held Monday at the funeral home.
Robert J. Salmon
age 61; of Sellersburg
Graveside services for Robert J. Salmon, 61 of Sellersburg, were held at 1 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 6, at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison. He died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Caritas Medical Center, Louisville.
He was a native of Sellersburg, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. He was employed by American Barge Lines, Jeffersonville.
Survivors include a son, Terrance Robert Salmon; a daughter, Bobbie Sue Salmon; two brothers, Kenneth Dale Salmon and Ronald Salmon; stepfather, Lige Howard; a friend, Sharon Childress and several nieces and nephews.
Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, is in charge of arrangements.
Letha Spell Sheffield
age 90; homemaker
Funeral services for Letha Spell "Jackie" Sheffield, 90, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home, Dunn, N.C., with burial in Erwin Memorial Park in Dunn, N.C. She died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Autryville, N.C. and a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Donald H. Ellis, Jeffersonville; two daughters, Wanda McLamb Cellini, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Geraldine M. Bruner, Jeffersonville; a sister, Thelma Jean Shermer, Erwin, N.C.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel C. Sheffield and a sister, Ethel Page.

Anna Frances Violette
age 78; of Clarksville
Funeral services for Anna Frances Violette, 78, of Clarksville, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Wedgewood Healthcare.
She was a native of Burkesville, Ky., retired employee of ICI Americas and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 327, Jeffersonville and Eastside Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Bob Violette Jr., Clarksville; three brothers, Malcolm Davidson and Donald R. Davidson, Jeffersonville and Hall W. Davidson, Clarksville; and two grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 6. Eastern Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
Hazel Jean Bilyou
age 54; of New Albany
A private memorial service for Hazel Jean Bilyou, 54, of Georgetown, will be held at a later date. She died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at her home.
She was the former Hazel Jean Bigler, a native of New Albany and a member of Morton United Methodist Church in Clarksville. She was a licensed cosmotologist, former member of the Jeanne Hamilton Modeling Agency and owner of Mrs. Hazel's Home Childcare and Preschool in Georgetown. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all those whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Bilyou; a son and his wife, Kenny Gene and Adria Bunch, Scottsburg; four grandchildren, Farrah and Michael Bunch, Scottsburg, and Emma and Conner Euting, Phoenix; an aunt, Helen Rainbolt, Clarksville; a cousin, his wife and children, Dale and Terry Rainbolt, Devin and Vanessa, Georgetown.
The body has been cremated. Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road, New Albany is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine M. Duggins
age 80; of New Albany
Funeral services for Catherine M. "Coupie" Ritz Duggin, 80, of New Albany, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9 in New Albany National Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
She resided at Providence Retirement Home for the past 10 years and was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Albany. She was retired from the old Seinsheimers Co. in New Albany and managed St. Mary's School cafeteria for many years. Catherine was very active in the Pocahontas Order of the Redmen, the Crusade for Children and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hobart Beach Post 1693 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, David Duggins, Sellersburg; two daughters, Sue Riely, Sellersburg and Becky Brown, Floyds Knobs; sisters, Ruth Kahl and Jane Roehm, New Albany; a brother, Vincent Ritz, New Albany; six grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Tom Brown, Rachel Fairchild, David Duggins, Jr., Patrick Duggins and Amy Duggins; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Brown, Abbie Brown and Mia Duggins.
Visitation at will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 6 at Generations Funeral Home, Ballard Lane, New Albany and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 7 at Providence Retirement Home, 4915 Charlestown Road, New Albany.

George G. Tom
age 53; of New Albany
Funeral services for George G. Tom, 53, of New Albany, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1534 Slate Run Road, New Albany, with burial in English Cemetery. He returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Floyd Memorial Hospital with loved ones by his side.
He was an employee of the Bureau of the Census for 17 faithful years, a member of the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve, an Elder in the New Albany Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an adult education teacher for Floyd County.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Lynn Tyler Tom; dear children, Tracey Sowder, Nicole Heintz, Shaine Tom; grandchildren, Katlyn and Logan Heintz; a sister, Stella Chung; and a brother, John Tom; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 6 at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, Louisville, is in charge of arrangements.
Mary L. Weigleb
age 83; of New Albany
Funeral services for Mary L. Weigleb, 83, of New Albany, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at her home.
She was the former Mary L. Jamison and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Weigleb and a daughter, Rose Mary Numann.
Survivors include three sons, Tony Weigleb, New Albany, Ron Weigleb, Floyds Knobs and Eddy Weigleb, Pekin; two daughters, Sandy Campbell and Jo Ann Johnson, both of New Albany; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 6.
