Survivors include his wife, Catherine; three daughters, Renee Messman, Rebecca Shail and Ranae Shail, all of LaPorte; his mother, Phyllis Messman of LaPorte; a sister, Deborah Lewis of New Carlisle; and a brother, John of LaPorte. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Essling Funeral Home, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and two hours before services Friday.

Marshall Miller

Dec. 20, 1906 - July 20, 1998

MILFORD - - Marshall "Shorty" Miller, 91, of 632 E. County Road 1150 North, died at 6 a.m. Monday in his home. Survivors include four daughters, Delilah Wuthrich, Bonnie Yoder and Phyllis Sorenson, all of Milford, and Nancy Graham of Goshen. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Eastlund Funeral Home, Mishler Chapel, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Melvin F. Olson

Sept. 23, 1932 - July 20, 1998

MILL CREEK - - Melvin Frederick "Olie" Olson, 65, of 9603 E. County Road 150 North, died at 5:43 p.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Survivors include his wife, Catherine; two daughters, Eva M. Clark of Mill Creek and Marge Peters of North Liberty; a sister, Shirley Doms of Mill Creek; and a brother, Roland Olson of Mill Creek. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today.

H. James Pugh

Jan. 11, 1925 - July 20, 1998

MICHIGAN CITY - - H. James "Jim" Pugh, 73, of Autumn Trail, died at 11:40 a.m. Monday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Alice (Purcell); four daughters, Mindalyn S. "Mindy" Gaunt and Linda Howell, both of LaPorte, Constance Oxley of Shaftsbury, Vt., and Julia Gregory of Athens, Ga.; and five sons, Robert Kiger and Douglas Kiger, both of LaPorte, Christopher Purcell of New Buffalo, Michael Purcell of Charlotte, N.C., and Lee Purcell of Novi, Mich. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, where friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and two hours before services.

Bryan D. Robbins

Aug. 27, 1908 - July 20, 1998

SYRACUSE - - Bryan Demoine Robbins, 89, of 500 E. Pickwick Road, died at 11:05 a.m. Monday in Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Young); and a daughter, Cindy Pritchard of Syracuse. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Calvary United Methodist Church, where friends may call one hour following the services.

Susan E. Robison

April 9, 1956 - July 20, 1998

ELKHART - - Susan E. Robison, 42, of 51528 County Road 11 North, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday in her home. Survivors include her husband, Jerry L.; two daughters, Carey E. and Jamie J. Robison, both at home; a son, Christopher L., at home; her mother, V. Joy Dixon of Elkhart; and four sisters, Darlene Smeltzer and Stacy Dixon, both of Elkhart, Sandra Pimentel of Sacramento, Calif., and Theresa Kochever of Santa Rosa, Calif. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Billings Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Madge E. Schroeder

March 27, 1905 - July 20, 1998

NILES - - Madge Edith Schroeder, 93, of 2567 Gilbert St., died Monday in Lakeland Medical Center - Niles. Survivors include a son, Norman A. Widman of Buchanan; and a sister, Doratha Schroeder of Muncie, Ind. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Silverbrook cemetery. There will be no visitation. Halbritter Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Rose H. Smith

Feb. 11, 1902 - July 20, 1998

STURGIS - - Rose H. Smith, 96, of 307 N. Franks Ave., died at 9:15 p.m. Monday in Sturgis Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla Waltke of Sturgis; and a brother, Peter Bogen of Cadillac, Mich. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Hackman - Foglesong Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Minola A. Baker

July 25, 1908 - Sept. 23, 1998

ELKHART - Minola A. Baker, 90, of 52120 Ridge St., died Wednesday in the home of her granddaughter at 60455 County Road 15. Survivors include three daughters, Doris M. Craigo, June I. Weaver and Carol L. O'Conners, all of Elkhart; and three sons, Wilbur L. and Carl L., both of Elkhart, and Dale F. of Osceola. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Walley - Mills - Zimmerman Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today.

ROLLING PRAIRIE - Lyle E. Cadwell, 87, of 3303 E. County Road 800 North, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday in LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte. Survivors include a daughter, Carmadeane Rose of Rolling Prairie; and a son, Larry of Benton City, Wash. There will be no services or visitation. Haverstock Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Donald E. Ickes Jr.

Dec. 29, 1958 - Sept. 5, 1998

NILES - Donald E. Ickes Jr., 39, of Oklawaha, Fla., formerly of Niles, died Sept. 5, in Silver Springs, Fla., following a car accident. Survivors include his parents, Laura M. Watson of Sunrise, Fla., and Donald E. Ickes, Sr., of Ocklawaha; a sister, Lori Beaulieu of Ocklawaha; his twin brother, Ronald D. of Ocklawaha; and twin brothers, Terry of Lauderdale, Fla., and Perry of Payson, Ariz. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Harrison cemetery, Decatur. There will be no visitation. Halbritter Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

LAPORTE - Irene A. Linard, 88, of 1717 Country Lane Drive, Apt. 51, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday in Ressurection Medical Center, Chicago. Survivors include two brothers, A.M. Peare of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Daniel Peare of Niles. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in LaPorte Kingdom Hall. There will be no visitation. Haverstock Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Edward Marciszonek

March 17, 1927 - Sept. 23, 1998

ELKHART - Edward Marciszonek, 71, of 3524 Wood St., died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Elkhart General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Helen (Cichosz); three daughters, Diane O'Day of Granger, Terry Bywater of Richmond, Ind., and Laurie Marciszonek of Strongsville, Ohio; two sisters, Anna Swartzell of Elkhart and Minnie Hansen of Fairmont, British Columbia, Canada. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Elkhart Chapel of Stemm - Lawson - Peterson Funeral Home, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

March 17, 1917 - Sept. 23, 1998

ELKHART - Paul W. Messner, 81, of 1222 Canton Street, died Wednesday in Elkhart General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Lucile V.; two daughters, Rae Ann Lane and Linda L. Raifsnider, both of Elkhart; and a son, James A. of Goshen. Services will follow the rosary at 7:30 p.m. today in Billings Funeral Home, where friends may call after 6 p.m. today.

May 22, 1910 - Sept. 23, 1998

TIPPECANOE - Maryellen Metheny, 88, of 4675 E. 17B Road, died Wednesday in Kings Daughters Hospital, Madison, Ind. Survivors include her husband, Enos F.; and a son, L. Jan of Madison. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Deaton Funeral Home, Bourbon, where friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Dec. 13, 1932 - Sept. 24, 1998

MICHIGAN CITY - Lucy L. Petti, 65, of Main Street, died at 5 a.m. Thursday in her home. Survivors include her husband, Antonio "Tony"; a daughter, Nancy Palmieri of Michigan City; a son, Joseph of Long Beach; and a sister, Josephine DiGiovanni of Mamaroneck, N.Y. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. A vigil service will be in the funeral home at 7 p.m. today.

ELKHART - Anita E. Schult, 87, of 969 E. Indiana Ave., died Tuesday in Elkhart General Hospital. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Trinity Lutheran Church. Hartzler - Gutermuth - Inman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
