Mosier of Elkhart. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Billings Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour before services.

Victor H. Hofstetter

Aug. 20, 1911 - Oct. 31, 1998

LAPORTE - Victor H. Hofstetter, 87, of Countryside Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Saturday in the center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Cutler Funeral Home, where friends may call two hours before services.

Otis E. Hoover Jr.

Aug. 5, 1915 - Nov. 1, 1998

GOSHEN - - Otis E. Hoover Jr., 83, of 1416 Wilson Ave., died at 9:40 p.m. Sunday in Elkhart General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Edna Jean (Dussel); a daughter, Vicki Amos of Cassopolis; two sons, Stephen of Plymouth and Joel of Bedford, Ind.; two sisters, Marilyn Castle of Fort Wayne and Jeanne Beghtel of Long Beach, Calif.; and a brother, Bill of Kokomo. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First English Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Rieth, Rohrer & Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour before services in the church.

Donald Houser

Oct. 10, 1937 - Oct. 31, 1998

SHIPSHEWANA - Donald Houser, 61, of 5640 N. County Road 3320 West, died Saturday in Cameron Hospital, Angola, Ind. Survivors include his wife, Alice J. (Leitch); two daughters, Kim Galinis and Patty Jent, both of LaGrange; four sons, David and Donald Jr., both of Shipshewana, Roger of Bristol and Jack of LaGrange; and his mother, Evelyn Rowe of Sturgis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Carney - Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Kit Johnson

Nov. 21, 1978 - Nov. 1, 1998

PIERCETON - Kit Johnson, 19, of 7406 E. Shoop Road, died at 3:04 a.m. Sunday following an automobile accident at Indiana 13 and County Road 500 South. Survivors include his parents, Luisa and John Johnson of Pierceton; and a brother, Perry of Pierceton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in McHatton - Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Monroe Kemp Jr.

July 2, 1946 - Oct. 31, 1998

WHITE PIGEON - - Monroe Kemp Jr., 52, of 308 E. Murray Ave., died at 1:41 p.m. Saturday in Three Rivers Area Hospital, Three Rivers, of natural causes. Survivors include a daughter, Debra Mercer of White Pigeon; a son, Michael of White Pigeon; his father, Monroe Kemp Sr. of Muncie, Ind.; and seven brothers, Roman Miller of Constantine, Andy Kemp of Bay City, Mich., Simon Kemp of Sturgis, Richard Kemp of Kalamazoo, Ron Kemp of Muskogee, Okla., Larry Kemp of Constantine and Kenneth Kemp of Elkhart. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Constantine Township cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Farrand Funeral Home.

D. Opal Lantz

Jan. 10, 1904 - Nov. 1, 1998

GOSHEN - D. Opal Lantz, 94, of 59615 County Road 19, died Sunday in her home. Survivors include two sons, Donald of Goshen and Dean A. of Mishawaka; and a brother, Chester Schrock of Goshen. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant View Mennonite Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Yoder - Culp Funeral Home.

Harold R. Lee

Sept. 10, 1921 - Nov. 1, 1998

ELKHART - - Harold R. Lee, 77, of 1423 McPherson St., died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday in Elkhart General Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; three daughters, Diane Hobson of Elkhart, Vickie Mascola of Goshen and Mariann Taft of Mishawaka; and a sister, Dorothy Rodebaugh of Schoolcraft, Mich. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Vincent de Paul's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Billings Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Ruth A. Logan

July 18, 1910 - Nov. 1, 1998

LAPORTE - Ruth Anna Logan, 88, of Countryside Place Nursing Home, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday in the nursing home. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Kunze of LaPorte; two sisters, Isabel Hausman of LaPorte and Grace Ostrowski of New Carlisle; and a brother, John Krishack of St. Peters, Mo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Essling Funeral Home, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and one hour before services Wednesday.

Dr. James M. Miley Jr.

March 11, 1923 - Oct. 30, 1998

PLYMOUTH - - Dr. James M. Miley Jr., 75, of Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Plymouth, died Friday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Hertha C. (Cosentino); two daughters, Lois M. Miley of Michigan City and Tina DeCamp of Mesa, Ariz.; and a son, J. Mike of Plymouth. There will be no services or visitation. Van Gilder Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

Herman J. Nickert

July 22, 1917 - Nov. 2, 1998

DOWAGIAC - - Herman J. Nickert, 81, of 210 Indiana Ave., died Monday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Caryl; a daughter, Cheri Johnson of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, H. Van of Kalamazoo and Rommel of Dowagiac; and a sister, Helen Fisher of California. There will be no visitation or services. Groner Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

THREE RIVERS - Helen Bell Norley, 77, of 56888 Bow Drive, formerly of Cassopolis, died Sunday in Heartland Health Care Center. Survivors include her husband, Edward G.; and two daughters, Jeanne Reed of Kalamazoo and Nina Young of Ocala, Fla. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis, where friends may call one hour before services.

Jack P. Scamehorn

MOTTVILLE - Jack Preston Scamehorn, 86, of 10389 U.S. 12, died Sunday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Alice M. (Kline); four daughters, Beverly Carver and Marilyn Marks, both of Baldwin, Mich., Janet Salisbury of White Pigeon and Sharon Smith of Mottville; a son, James of Union; and a brother, Richard of Bristol. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Farrand Funeral Home, White Pigeon, where friends may call from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Priscilla Serpe

LAPORTE - Priscilla Serpe, 81, of 804 Pennsylvania Ave., died at 3 a.m. Monday in her home. Survivors include her husband, Fred J.; a daughter, Patricia Schroeder of New Carlisle; a son, James of Waukesha, Wis.; and two brothers, Norbert Nowak and Carl Nowak, both of LaPorte. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Essling Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Marie Sheley

TOPEKA - Marie Sheley, 73, of County Road 600 West, died Sunday in her home. Survivors include four daughters, Anita Christner and Brenda Carpenter, both of Topeka, Colleen Bontrager of Lincoln, Neb., and Leslie Sheley of LaGrange; a son, Daryl of Wolcottville; and a sister, Carol Timmins of Goshen. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Topeka Baptist Church, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Ulrey - Renner Funeral Home, Ligonier, is handling arrangements.

Russell H. Ziegert

April 4, 1934 - Oct. 31, 1998

NILES - Russell H. Ziegert, 64, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of Niles, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, after an illness. Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. (Bork); two sons, Steven of Rockford and Mark of Granger; and two brothers, Ted of Villa Rica, Ga., and Norman of Dearborn Heights, Mich. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rockford. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Fred C. Olson North Chapel, Rockford, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the church.

William G. Bailey

SOUTH BEND - William G. "Bill" Bailey, 43, of Generations Drive West, died Monday in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, after an illness. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Lou Yoder of Mishawaka and Marie Minutello of Chicago; and three brothers, James of Elkhart, Thomas of Mishawaka and Myron G. of Chicago. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Basilica, Notre Dame, where friends may call one hour before services. McGann Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
