Alvera M. Voorde

Alvera M. Voorde, 91, of Ewing Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3rd, in the Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart, Ind.
Mrs. Voorde was born on Dec. 2, 1907, in South Bend, as the daughter of the late Alphonse and Ida (DeGroote) Bernaert.
On Sept. 14, 1935, in St. Matthew's Cathedral, South Bend, as Alvera Bernaert, she married
Albert Voorde, who survives.
Mrs. Voorde leaves her husband Albert of sixty - three years. She was a loving mother to their six children which she raised in Jimtown on a farm for sixteen years: four daughter's, Jo Ann (Dan) Robinson of Mishawaka, Ind., Joyce (Jack) Simper of Elkhart, Therese (John) Gardner of Mishawaka and Marjorie Voorde of South Bend, and two sons, Fred (Sarah) Voorde of Elkhart and Don Voorde of South Bend. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great - grandchildren; and by two brothers, Dick Bernaert of Mishawaka and Alvin Bernaert of San Bernardino, Calif.
Mrs. Voorde was employed by the South Bend Bait Company as an office worker. She was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral.
Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A wake service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec 7, in St. Matthew's Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend, with Bishop Joseph R. Crowley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery, South Bend.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Voorde may be made to the Bishop Crowley Education Fund, Saint Matthew Cathedral School, 1015 E. Dayton, South Bend, IN 46613.
David G. Yanko, Jr.

David Geza Yanko, Jr., age 70, of Alan Road, South Bend, departed from this life on Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, in his residence after fighting a long illness.
David retired from RACO as a tool and die maker after 44 years of service in 1992.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Helen and David Geza Yanko, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Orban.
David has been a dedicated husband to Rita T. (Lubinski), who survives, whom he lovingly married
on June 24, 1950, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. He was a wonderful father to his surviving son, Brian (Debbie) Yanko of Versailles, Kentucky; and two daughters, Annemarie (James A.) Phelps of South Bend and Beth Ann (Clint) Fuller of North Liberty.
He was a wonderful Grandpa to Rachel and Emily Yanko of Versailles, Kentucky, Michelle and Alan Kajzer of North Liberty, and Carl and Grace Fuller of North Liberty. He was also a great brother to his surviving sisters, Helen (Steve) Solnoky of South Bend, Anne (Phil) Cappert and Irene Mindykowski, both of Mishawaka, and Betty (David) Blosser of South Bend.
David also loved his in - laws, John (Esther) Lubinski, Eileen Lesher and the late Bernard (Marilyn) Lubinski, all of South Bend.
David was a member of the Crumstown Conservation Club, he served his country in the Korean Conflict, and was an usher for Our Lady of Hungary Church, and RACO Retirees Club. He enjoyed his family, friends, hunting, fishing, gardening, laughter and shopping at Meijers.
Precious memories of David will remain in the hearts of his family and everyone who knew him.
Funeral services will be at Our Lady of Hungary Church on Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Lemos officiating.
Friends may visit at St. Joseph Funeral Home on Sample Street from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998. A combined Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday by the parish and the usher's club.

Robert A. Yoder

Robert A. Yoder, 66, of Lincoln Way East, South Bend, Ind., died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, in his residence.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1932, in South Bend.
He is survived by his son and daughter - in - law, Robert M. and Maureen Yoder of Dunwoody, Ga.; a granddaughter, Michele Martinez of Twenty - Nine Palms, Calif.; a great - granddaughter, Mariana Martinez; two sisters, Joyce Elake of Florida and Elaine Pipke of South Bend; three brothers, Gene, Tom and Jimmy, all of South Bend; and by a half brother, John Woods of Indiana.
Mr. Yoder retired as a drafting engineer from General Dynamics. He was a member of the American Legion.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood, with Rev. Joseph Gaughan officiating. Friends may call just prior to services in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for the Homeless in South Bend.

Hans of Granger and Marie Bergman of South Bend; a son, Thomas E. of Niles; and two sisters, Dorthy Humphrey of Warren, Mich. and Rowena Johnson of South Bend.
