Robert 'Bob' Firsich Jr.
Robert C. "Bob" Firsich Jr., 57, Kokomo, died early Saturday morning, March 30, 2001, at his residence. Born Dec. 14, 1943, in Connersville, he was the son of Estol (Moore) and Robert C. Firsich Sr.
He was a 1962 graduate of Western High School. He had served in the Naval Reserves. He retired in 1996 as a machine repairman at Delco Electronics after 34 years of service. He also owned and operated Bob's Machine Shop in Kokomo. He was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where he was active in the Team 20 Christ Renewal Program. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association; National Hot Rod Association and the United Drag Racing Association.
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Tom Holden, Russiaville; a niece, Rachel Holden, Russiaville, and nephew, Irwin Holden, also of Russiaville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday with a mass of Christian burial held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Connersville. Father Stanley Herber will officiate. Burial will be in Dale cemetery, Connersville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller, Moster, Robins Funeral Home, 1704 N. Grand Ave., Connersville. Nancy Stanley
Nancy M. Stanley, 90, 621 Elk Dr., Apt. 23, Kokomo, died at 6:15 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2001, at Manorcare Health Care Center. Born March 26, 1911, in Sharps Chapel, Tenn., she was the daughter of Rispa (Burnett) and Elvin Clark.
She had worked as a dietary chef at Ponoma Valley Community Hospital. She was a member of T.O.P.S. and an avid bingo player.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis E. and Dixie Ruman, Battle Ground, Ind., Frank E. and Susan Ruman, Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Betty Flora and Helen Cook, both of Kokomo; one brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Estelle Clark, Kokomo; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and four sisters.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Burial will follow at Crown Point cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Laurel Hanson
PERU -- Laurel W. Hanson, 72, 524 Plothow Road, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001, at North Woods Village, Kokomo. Born May 30, 1928, in La Crosse, Wis., he was the son of Shirley and Eva (Halderson) Hanson. On March 29, 1952, he married
Iris Luhmann. He had been employed from 1970 to 1974 at WARU radio station. He retired as a Major after 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He flew more than 65 combat missions in Korea for which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. He was past-president of the International Hudson-Essex Terreplane Club. He published, recorded and sang music. Surviving are his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lee Hanson Ph.D., Crestline, Calif.; Lt. Col. Craig Handson and wife Terry, Yorktown, Va.; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Cody Hanson, and two sisters, Mavis Ness, Canyon Lake, Calif. and Hope Fackler, Hemet, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hallworth Hanson, and a granddaughter, Adriane.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St., Peru. Burial will be in the Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va. A reception will follow the memorial.

Richard L. Martin, 72, 2709 N. Locke St., died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis.

Judge John C. Wood, 57, 211 W. Walnut St., died at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Center.

Anthony DiNardo
Anthony DiNardo, 80, died Monday, March 26, 2001. He was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Bridgeport, Conn. On May 29, 1942, he married
his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Rose, who died July 22, 1999, after 57 years of marriage.
He was raised in Freeport, N.Y., where he graduated from Freeport High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Pratt Institute of Technology and a metallurgical engineer. He was also a nationally recognized and published expert on hard facing alloys, author and the possessor of two U.S. patents for metallurgical technology processes. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association: Izaak Walton League; American Society for Metals, and American Welding Society. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and the Scottish Rite of the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia March, Lawrenceburg, Ky.; a son, Captain Thomas DiNardo, Kokomo; grandchildren, William Anthony and Gina Jennings, and Trisha DiNardo; and a great-grandson, Logan Anthony. He was preceded in death by his wife and four sisters.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 602 W. Superior St. Father Richard Lightsey will officiate. Burial will be in Albright cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church and one hour before the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., is in charge of the arrangements.
Norma Eaton
Norma Jean Eaton, 66, 1905 Versailles Drive, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at her residence. Born Oct. 3, 1934, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Harley F. and Bonnie (Roller) Penley. On April 19, 1957, in Church Hill, Tenn., she married
Joe Eaton, who survives.
She was a homemaker.
She and her husband have attended Oakford Baptist Church for the past three years. She has worked her entire life in all aspects of the church. She has given her life to serving others.
She enjoyed gardening and outdoor work.
Surviving are her husband; her mother Bonnie Penley, Church Hill, Tenn.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Jo and Jeff Thieke, Galveston, Donna J. and Mike Heilman, Kokomo, Carol and Farron Gatewood, Newnan, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, D. Kent and Kelly Eaton, Krakow, Poland; 13 grandchildren, Brook, Joseph and Kelsey Thieke, Melinda, Bethany and Landon Eaton, Sarah, Rebekah, Michael and Philip Heilman, Jennifer, Cody and Amy Gatewood; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Dianne Penley, Melburn, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Kay and Bob Chappell, Church Hill, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her father.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakford Baptist Church, 400 South 100 East, Kokomo. The Revs. Benny Woods and Kevin Smith will officiate. Also speaking will be Kent Eaton. Virginia Hendrickson
RUSSIAVILLE -- Virginia L. "Jenny" Hendrickson, 61, died at 2:16 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Holiday Care Center, after a bout with cancer. She was born July 3, 1939, and was the daughter of Fred and Marie (Wirtz) Rentsch. On April 9, 1977, she married
Roger Hendrickson, who died Oct. 7, 1987.
She retired from Chrysler Corporation in November 1998, after 26 years.
She was a member of United Auto Workers Local 685.
Surviving are a son, Charles "Chuck" Crutchfield, Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Tony Perkins, Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Eileen Holland, Fairland, Carolyn "Susie" Boynton, Brownsburg, Debra "Debi" Richards, Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Brittany and Joshua Perkins; two nephews; a niece; a great nephew; and a great niece. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Rentsch, and a sister, JoAnn Butlin.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 East Main St., Russiaville. The Rev. LuAnn Hendershot will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Kokomo. Ellen Hunsberger
Cynthia Ellen Hunsberger, 85, 140 S. Western Ave, died at 1;15 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at her home. She was born in Kokomo, on Sept. 22, 1915, the daughter of Charles Morton and Ina Mabel (Rollins) Bringle. She was married
to Howard Owen Hunsberger, who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1983.
She retired from Kokomo Center Township Consolidated School Corporation. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at Saint Joseph Hospital & Helath Center.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Loydell Hunsberger, Cambridgeshire, England, Philip and Alice Hunsberger, Biloxi, Miss., Craig and Janice Hunsberger, New Castle; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Kay and Robert Ewing, Kokomo; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Frank (Mary Kay) Yenna, Kokomo.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fenn & Shirley Mortuary, Colonial Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Pastor John Zwirn will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and two hours prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 2000 W. Jefferson St., Kokomo, Ind. 46901, and/or to the charity donor's choice.
