Eunice Nunemacher

TIPTON -- Eunice "Jeannie" Nunemacher, 71, 204 Oak St., died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Fred Gschwind will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 215 W. Jefferson St. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Arthur Snider

LAFAYETTE -- Arthur E. Snider, 84, 3928 Burberry Drive, died at 9:16 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Home Hospital.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Neptune Funeral Home, Burlington. The Rev. Herbert Wingard will officiate. Burial will be in Burlington cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Todd Jagger

COLUMBIA CITY -- Todd M. Jagger, 3534 N. Airport Road, died 12:01 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at his home of natural causes.

Services are 3 p.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive. The Rev. Russell Davidson, Pastor Robert Priest and Pastor Eric Stoops will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthews (Hively) cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.

Joshua ‘Pooh’ Height

Joshua "Pooh" Wayne Height, 2, 3512 Southlea Drive, died 5:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at his residence. He was born Aug. 19, 1997, in Austell, Ga., the son of James and Melissa (Beene) Height.

Surviving are his parents, maternal grandparents, Rick and May Byous, Kokomo; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Byous; maternal great-grandparents, Huey and Diane Byous, Kokomo; maternal great-grandfather, Richard Stoeckinger, Kokomo; maternal great-great-grandparents, William and Dorothy Crossley, Mesa, Ariz.; maternal great-great-grandmother, Irene Byous, Griffin, Ga.; maternal grandfather, Kevin Stahl, Kokomo; paternal grandparents, Karen and Rick Otto-Smith, Smyrna, Ga.; paternal great-grandmother, Molly Flagg, Messena, N.Y.; half brother, Tyler Jacob Yakim, Michigan City; a sister, Jasmine Scott Nicole Height, at home; five uncles and one aunt, Rick Byous, Claxton, Ga., Michael Byous, Powder Springs, Ga., John Byous, Kokomo, Fred Charles Copeland Jr., Douglasville, Ga., Michael Stahl, Kokomo, and Stacy Byous, Kokomo.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. The Rev. Roger Sutherland will officiate. Burial will be in Albright cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley’s Children Hospital.

Claud Gamblin

Claud S. Gamblin, 85, 1122 S. Calumet St., died 7:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at his residence. He was born March 24, 1914, in Delongo, Ga., the son of Nathaniel and Martha E. (Stover) Gamblin. He married Deloris M. Castle, who survives. They were married Nov. 25, 1923, in Frankfort.

He was employed at Chrysler Casting Plant for 30 years. He was a truck driver and welder, retiring in September 1976.

He was a member of the Family of God Foursquare Church and the United Auto Workers Local 1166.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Jo Ann Gamblin Sr. and Tim and Sandra Gamblin Sr., all of Kokomo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Loletia and Roger Sexton, Kokomo, and Marti and Philip Hinnenkamp, Grand Blanc, Mich.; 31 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Raymond and Thelma Gamblin, Kokomo; and three sisters, Madge Grogan, Kokomo, Marie Wisehart, California, and Olie Shackelford, Kokomo.

A son, Robert Gamblin Sr., two grandchildren and two brothers preceded him in death.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. The Rev. Charles Roberts and the Rev. Ted Orem will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Garden cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Rev. Elwood Walker

RUSHVILLE -- The Rev. Elwood Walker, 87, Rushville, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, in Rushville. He was born Dec. 11, 1911, in White Oak Township, Ingham County, Mich., the son of Earl Olive (Carpenter) Walker. He had been a farmer and later, at the age of 33, he went into the ministry. He served church at Washington Center, Ind., the Brimfield circuit, Hillsdale Chapel near Kokomo, South Whitley United Methodist Church, Grace United Methodist, South United Methodist Church in Wabash, Wolcottville and Rome City.

Surviving are his wife, Viola Mae (Wilcox) Walker, Rushville; four children, Mrs. Robert (Rosemarie) Waddell, North Carolina; Dennis Walker, Wabash; Mrs. George (Sherry) Huff, Rushville; Mrs. Randy (Debbie) Cleaveland, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Mae Crandall, Webberville, Mich.; Helen Curtis, Stockbridge, Mich.

Two brothers, Clifton Walker and Glen Walker, and a sister, Bernice Pringle, preceded him in death.

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Millville United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, Mich., and from noon until services at the church Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the church of you choice. Burial will be in North Stockbridge cemetery, Stockbridge.

Isla Alexander

TIPTON -- Isla V. Alexander, 93, 403 N. Pike St., Kempton, died 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, in Autumnwood Extended Care at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1906, in Clinton County, the daughter of J.W. Kemp and Cora Dell (Goodnight) Kemp. She was the wife of Carl H. Alexander, who preceded her in death January 1967. They were married June 2, 1934.

She was a high school teacher, retiring in 1967. She was a member of Kempton Methodist Church and was a Depauw University alumna. She taught high school at Prairie Township and Jefferson Township in Tipton County, and at Clinton County, Forrest and Tipton schools.

Surviving are one daughter, Beverly Wesner, Naples, Fla.; one son Lloyd Alexander, Kempton; four grandchildren, Lisa Ann Alexander, Fishers; Gregg Alexander, Kempton; Lora Alexander, Frankfort; and Chad Wesner, Livonia, Mich.; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson St. The Rev. Richard Covert will officiate. Burial will be in Kempton cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kempton Methodist Church.

Ophia Martin

WABASH -- Ophia L. Martin, 94, formerly of 403 E. Hill St., died 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, in Community Care Center.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Services, Main Street Chapel, 86 E. Main St. Pastor Mike Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory cemetery, Marion. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. today at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church Organ Fund.

Helen Neidlinger

FLORA -- Helen Lucille Neidlinger, 77, 4863 S. Road 75 East, Cutler, died 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi.

Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Lawn cemetery, Flora. The Rev. James Robb will officiate. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements by Baker Funeral Home.

Jessie Tillisch

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Jessie Dorothy Tillisch, 83, Eventide Living Center, Moorhead, died on Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Born Feb. 8, 1916, in Stewart, Iowa, she was a daughter of Daniel and Ella Riney Fay. On Feb. 10, 1940, in Chicago, she married Clayton Tillisch, who preceded her in death.

After graduation from high school, she moved with her family to Chicago, met and married Clayton. They moved to Minneapolis in 1941, and to Moorhead in 1942, where they made their home and raised their family.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes and St. Joseph’s Catholic, where she was active as a volunteer. After raising her family, she was the office manager for her husband’s optometry practice, until they retired in 1985.

Her family will remember her as a woman of fine character with an Irish spirit. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and wife. She set an example for her children by the way she lived her life and practiced her faith. She was a great cook and enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, working with ceramics, summers at the lake, and attending daily mass.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Dr. Janet Tillisch, and Bruce and Kathy Tillisch, all of Fargo, N.D.; Craig and Susan Tillisch, Casselton, N.D.; Jack and Renae Tillisch, Pelican Lake, Minn.; two daughters Kay Lynn and Carmen Christianson, Kokomo, Ind.; Jill and Kevin O’Leary, St. Joseph, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Patrick, Stephanie, John, Katie, Joseph and Emily Tillisch; Gail and Kelly Brown; Carl and Eric Christianson; Kerry and Molly O’Leary; three great-grandchildren, Allison, Elizabeth, and Jennifer Brown.

Services are at 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, N.D., where a prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Churches United for the Homeless.

Jack Spicer Sr.

CLEARFIELD, Utah -- Jack Wayne Spicer Sr., 69, died on Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, after a long illness.

Born April 7, 1930, in Kokomo, Ind., he was the son of Marshall Harrison Spicer and Florence Charlotte Ashby. On Dec. 30, 1947, he married Delores Mae Kuntz. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.

He served in the U.S. Army for three years as the rank of staff sergeant. He spent his working years working for Shell Oil Co. in Kokomo, and F.M.C. Corp. in Tipton, Ind. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in a variety of positions, including branch president, a member of the Bishopric, the High Council and Gospel Doctrine teacher. He served as an Ogden Temple worker for four years and would never miss an opportunity to do temple work until he was no longer well enough to do so.

He loved competition gardening with his children, the long hours he spent creating his beautiful poetry and watching the birds at the feeders he set up in the yard. He especially loved the time he spent with his family members and appreciated the company of good friends. Our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, loved life and lived to serve others. He will be greatly missed and forever adored.

Surviving are his wife, Delores, of 52 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christina D. and Steve Moon; Karen S. and George Ulloa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack W. and Tris Spicer Jr.; Mark D. and Debra Spicer; two special daughters, Teresa Parr Hite and Nola Spicer; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rozella Finch, Kokomo, Ind., and Marjorie Danforth, Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Spicer, and a son, Jerry Dana Spicer.

Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Clearfield 5th Ward Chapel, 838 E. 600 South. Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Linquist’s Clearfield Mortuary, and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday, at the church.

Betty Tedlock

Betty Lou Tedlock, 71, 914 E. Superior St., died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Howard Community Hospital. Born Feb. 22, 1928, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of John L. and Nellie Davis Record. On Feb. 22, 1946, she married Cecil C. Tedlock, who died June 2, 1992. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law. Roger and Joan Tedlock, Plano, Texas; Kenneth and Sonja Tedlock and John Tedlock, all of Kokomo; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn and Michael Baugher, Kokomo; Rebecca Tedlock, Keeling, Va.; eight grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Christina Baugher; Kevin, Kary and Daniel and Kourtney Tedlock; Alisha Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brian Baugher Jr.; David Ballard. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Tedlock.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. The Rev. James Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Point cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
