FRANKFORT, Ind. -- Edith M. Donnell, 101, Route 3, Frankfort, died at 10:38 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at her home.
No services are planned. The body will be cremated. Stout and Son Funeral Home, Russiaville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Esther Stoffer
TIPTON, Ind. -- Esther L. Stoffer, 71, 504 Maple St., Tipton, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 1999.

Hermaleen Anderson
PERU, Ind. -- Hermaleen Anderson, 85, 317 Blair Pike, Peru, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at Dukes Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru. Dr. E. Dean Fager will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Peru. There will be a Rebekah service 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
Elsie Young
Elsie L. Young, 80, Kokomo, died approximately noon Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, at her residence. She was born Dec. 1, 1918, in New London, the daughter of Irwin and Fern (Clark) Medley. She was self-employed as a dress maker, retiring in 1996. She was a 1937 graduate of Kokomo High School and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Janette Young, Kokomo; Kenneth and Yukiko Young, and David and Christine Young, all of Kokomo; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Lenny Thompson, Kokomo; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Donal and Maxine Medley, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
One brother, two sisters and a grandchild preceded her in death.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. The Rev. Frank Gribble III will officiate. Burial will be in Albright cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Orvilla Cook
Orvilla M. Cook, 73, 1036 S. Indiana Ave., died at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, in SCCI Hospital. She was born July 18, 1926, in Kokomo, the daughter of Robert and Ruth Gaddis. She was the wife of Robert C. Cook, who preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1992. They were married
June 18, 1955, in Kokomo.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are four sons, Ronnie and Sherry Patton, Kokomo, Floyd and Barb Patton, Georgetown, Ky., Clint and Tonya Cook and Doug and Gayle Cook, all of Kokomo; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Dick Anderson, Burlington, and Connie and James Hammock, Tennessee; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Gaddis, Tennessee; and one sister, Wanda Thieke, Massillon, Ohio.
Her husband and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road. The Rev. John McCoy of Southside Christian Church will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens cemetery.
Francis ‘Frank’ Sera
Francis John "Frank" Sera, 78, Kokomo, died 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, in his residence.
Arrangements are pending at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel.
John Sholty Sr.
PERU, Ind. -- John Rolland Sholty Sr., 62, 630 E. 5th St., died at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 1999 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 2, 1936 in Logansport, he was the son of John A. and Kathryn N. (Byers) Sholty. His mother survives in Peru. On Sept. 10, 1958, he married
Milagros Delos Santos, who survives.
He graduated from Peru High School in 1954. He entered the U.S. Navy and remained until Oct. 19, 1984, when he retired as Master Chief Petty officer. He earned an associate of science degree from New York State University. He also took courses through Ball State University. From June 1985 until February 1996, he worked as a communications specialist GS-11, at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Ind. He took early retirement to go on the Indiana heart transplant list. His military decorations included five Navy achievement medals, Navy Expeditionary Medal (Indian Ocean), China Service Medal, seven good conduct medals, and several commendations.
He was past master of F&A Masonic Lodge #166, Newberry, Ind.; past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #14; 40/8 Voiture #1014, and Moose Lodge #249, all of Peru. He was a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, and a charter member of the Naval Radioman Association.
Surviving are his mother, his wife, a daughter and son-in-law, Puriza and Russell Warywoda, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; four sons and daughters-in-law, John Jr. and Barbara Sholty, Victorville, Calif., Michael and Shirley Sholty, San Diego, Calif., Glenn and Melissa Sholty, Peru, and Arturo and Mila Delos Santos, San Diego, Calif.; brothers Terry Sholty, Boonsboro, Md., Danny Sholty, Peru, and William Sholty, Kokomo; a sister, Nyla Kay, Durham, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St. The Rev. Dean Fager will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Raymond Weigt
Raymond Elmer Weigt, 79, 1529 N. Lindsay St., died at 9:22 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 1999, at Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Center. Born Oct. 22, 1919, in Menno, S.D., the son of Leonard and Barbara (Miller) Weigt. On Oct. 27, 1942, in O’Neill, Neb., he married
Irene (Stahl), who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an employee at Delco for over 30 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Parr Methodist church, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1152 and a former member of the Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving are his wife of Kokomo; one son, Ronald Ray Weigt, Kokomo; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Willard and Dorothy Weigt and Harlyn and Casey Weigt, all of Twin Falls, Idaho; Clarence Weigt, Corpus Christi, Texas; Alton and June Weigt, Deerpark, Texas; Dennis and Sandy Weigt, Jerome, Idaho; one grandson, Douglas Ray Weigt; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road. The Rev. Larry Newberg will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Garden cemetery with military rites by VFW Post #5782. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Glenn Garbert
WALTON, Ind. -- Glenn (Shorty) Garbert, 90, Walton Manor Apts., died at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 1999 at Sycamore Village Nursing Home, Kokomo. Born Sept. 29, 1908, in Cass County, he was the son of Charles and Kate (Amos) Garbert. On Dec. 23, 1934, he married
Bernice Rickard, who survives. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, near Walton. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Murray Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel. The Rev. Ed Brock will officiate. Burial will be in Galveston cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Galveston Ambulance Service.
Lavon Martin
FLUSHING, Mich. -- Lavon D. Martin, 63, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Genesys Regional Medical Center at Health Park. He was born Nov. 9, 1935, in Greentown, Ind., the son of Laurel and Mary (Leichty) Martin. On April 21, 1957, in Goshen, he married
Ruby Stutzman, who survives.
He was the co-owner of Storehouse Natural Foods since 1982. He previously owned The Village Bike Shop. He attended Trinity Assembly of God.
Surviving are his wife of Flushing; a son, Chuck Martin, Mt. Morris; two daughters and one son-in-law, Karla Martin, Greentown, Ind.; Gail and Gary Guenther, Flushing; three grandchildren, Tisa, Bianca, Gabriel; a brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Freda Martin, Greentown; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Dale Hill, Lambert, Mont. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn, in 1979.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Assembly of God, 4363 W. Mt. Morris Road. Rev. Carl Halquist will officiate. Burial will be in Schrock cemetery, Howard County at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Florence McFall
Florence L. McFall, 91, 5277 N. 50 E., Kokomo, went to be with her Lord at 5:11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Born Oct. 23, 1907, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Albert I. and Ora (Bradley) Roberts. She was married
to Lloyd R. McFall, who passed away March 11, 1970. She was a homemaker, and a member of Victory Church of God. She was a member of the Moose Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Americana Healthcare Center.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Lloyd McFall, Ocoee, Fla.; Max L. McFall, Chulota, Fla.; Daniel E. McFall, Lake Mary, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. George H. (Rosalyn M.) Jones, and Wanita J. Jones, both of Kokomo; Reba J. Hall, Christmas, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Allen Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, four sisters, five brothers, and three grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Rev. Herman Gorham and Rev. Terry Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Point cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
James Johnson
MUNCIE, Ind. -- James W. Johnson, 52, died Sunday evening, Aug. 8, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, after an extended illness. Born in Ewing, Ala., he was the son of Jessie and Dorothy Johnson. He was employed by Pen Rod Engineering Corp. as a machinist for 10 years before becoming disabled. He attended the full Gospel Temple.
Surviving are his wife Joyce; three sons and one daughter-in-law, James Brian and Donna Johnson, Jimmie Ray Johnson, and Ray Lee Johnson, all of Kokomo; a daughter, Dianna Johnson, Kokomo; a stepdaughter and step-son-in-law, Rebecca and David Skillman, Parker City; four stepsons and three step-daughters-in-law, Larry and Michelle Musick, Muncie; Lloyd and Misty Musick, Warrensburg, Mo.; Paul and Tracy Green, and Phillip Green, all of Muncie; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and his mother, Dorothy Johnson, Peru; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Larry and Darlene Johnson, Frankfort; Jesse and Sue Johnson, and Phillip Johnson, all of Kokomo; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Viva and Lonnie Durbin, Peru; Janice and Dana Gotty, Georgia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jess Johnson and a son.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Parson Mortuary. Burial will follow in Beech Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary one hour before the service.
Mildred Fisher
Mildred L. Fisher, 87, Kokomo, died at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at SCCI Hospital at Saint Joseph Hospital. Born Jan. 16, 1912, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Sam and Lena (Keifer) Pettit. On Oct. 29, 1931, she married
Francis Fisher, who preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1993.
She was a graduate of Kokomo High School. She was a homemaker, and a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. She was a past member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She was very active in the church in her younger years.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy L. Pine, Cindy and Pat Brown, all of Kokomo; a granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Steve Creason, Kokomo; a great-granddaughter, Callie R. Creason. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and three sisters.
Committal services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Fr. Frank Kilcline will officiate. Friends may call from 10 to 12:45 a.m. Friday at Ellers Funeral Home, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
Florence Hollingsworth
Florence Mae Hollingsworth, 97, Extenda Care Nursing Home, died at 4:13 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 1999, at the facility. Born July 31, 1902, in Clinton County, she was the daughter of Lew W. and Alice S. (Playle) Smith. She was divorced. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and homemaker.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, K. Rex and Dora Plough, Kokomo; two grandsons, Mark S., and Jeffrey L. Plough, Kokomo; six great-grandchildren; a nephew, Ronald Koenig, Kokomo. She was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday, at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Rev. Harold Williams will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Barbara Justice
Barbara L. Justice, 40, Kokomo, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at Howard Community Hospital. Born Jan. 25, 1959, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Loren "Ron" and Linda L. (Hill) Morris. She enjoyed drawing, poetry and riding Harleys.
Surviving are her mother, Kokomo; her father, Florida; a son, Travis Jason Farris, Kokomo; two daughters, Stephanie N. Tinder and Tiffany J. Tinder, both of Kokomo; a sister, Beth Ann Morris, Kokomo; a half-sister, Mitzi R. Morris, Florida.; a half-brother, Joshua S. Morris, Florida.; four grandchildren, Tyler Tinder, Greentown; Dillon Farris, Haley Tinder, Alexis Tinder, all of Kokomo; two nieces, Trisha A. Morris, Alicia R. Morris, both of Kokomo.
A memorial service was conducted Wednesday for her family. Rev. Ray Freeman officiated. Ellers Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
