John Pebley
John R. Pebley, 64, 532 W. Mulberry St., died 8:50 p.m. Friday, July 30, 1999, in Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Center. He was born March 27, 1935 in La Follette, Tenn., the son of Walter H. and Florence Tilson Pebley.
He was a retired laborer and member of the Local Union 24, and worked at Furrows.
Surviving are four sons, Steve Pebley, Arlington, Va., Tim Pebley, London, Ky., John L. and wife, Autumn Pebley, Peru, and Jeff Pebley, Woodbridge, Va.; two grandchildren, Briana Pebley and Summer Pebley; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Joyce Pebley, Monroe, Mich., William and Maudie Pebley, Kokomo, Louise and Paulette Pebley, and Ellard and Goldie Pebley, all of La Follette, Tenn.; six sisters and one brother-in-law, Eula Carr, Niagara, Falls, N.Y., Barbara Sample, Kokomo, Dianne and Evan Cree Jr., Kokomo, Elizabeth Martin, Magdelene Willis and Nina Pebley, all of La Follette, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were his parents; and three brothers, Delbert, Alvin and Walter Pebley.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Walters Funeral Home, 506 Central Ave., La Follette, Tenn., with the Rev. Nettie Evans officiating. Burial will be in Campbell Memorial Gardens cemetery, La Follette. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Betty Seiler
PERU, Ind. - Betty J. Seiler, 73, 1918 Boulevard St., Rochester, died 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. She was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Peru, the daughter of Carl and Marie Hutchinson Brittain. She was the wife of Toby Seiler Jr., who survives. They were married
Dec. 24, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas.
She formerly served as a teacher’s aid at Elmwood Elementary School in Peru. She was a 1943 graduate of Peru High School and a member of First Christian Church, Rochester and Psi Iota Ki sorority.
Surviving are her husband, Toby Seiler Jr., Rochester; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sindy and David Zirkle, Bloomfield, and Joanie and Jeff Sackett, Lewisville, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Carolyn Seiler, Peru, Jay and Mary Ann Seiler, Kokomo, and Toby J. and Christina Seiler, Rochester; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Paul Prible, Rochester; and 11 grandchildren, Jerry Seiler, Janette Adams, Bradley Zirkle, Amy Zirkle, Jonathon Seiler, Catherine Seiler, Timothy Sommers, Alison Seiler, Elizabeth Sackett, Caitlin Sackett and Merris Sackett.
She was preceded in death by
her parents and one granddaughter, Jeanne Anne Seiler.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., with the Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery. Dorothy Hunter
Dorothy Edna Hunter, 84, Denver, Ind., died 4:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 1999, at her residence.
Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Russiaville cemetery, Russiaville, with the Rev. Steve Fleck officiating. McClain Funeral Home, Denver, is in charge of arrangements.
Nellie Fenn Mullen
Nellie Maria Fenn Mullen, 93, a Kokomo resident, died at 2:28 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Forest Park Health Care Center. Born Oct. 29, 1905 in Howard County, she was the daughter of David and Dora (Keeler) Fenn. On May 19, 1922, she married
Daily C. Mullen, who preceded her in death January, 1956.
She was a graduate of Kokomo Business College. She had been employed by Montgomery Ward and Stanley Department Stores. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kokomo and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are three children, Max Mullen, Kokomo, Betty Jo Hachenbracht and her husband Kenneth, Greentown, Madonna Shutt, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Roger Wyrick, Atlanta, Ga., Dennis Wyrick, Vero Beach, Fla., Steven Mullen, Kokomo, Cynthia Mullen, Indianapolis; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel June Scott, Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Fenn & Shirley Mortuary, Colonial Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Pastor Paul Martin will officiate. Burial will follow in Albright cemetery. Willadene Foust
WALTON, Ind. -- Willadene K. Foust, 81, Walton, died 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999, in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born July 21, 1918, in Cass County to Harmon and Inez Kunkle Wilson. She was the wife of Earl Foust, who preceded her in death in 1959. They were married
Feb. 26, 1939, in Peru.
She worked for First National Bank, Kokomo, for 38 years in the accounting department and continued to work until her death. She was a 1961 graduate of Indiana Business School, Kokomo. She also was a member of Kokomo Church of Christ.
Surviving are a two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Daniel McNeill, Atlanta, Ga., and Nancy and Marvin Alsum, Orlando, Fla.; a brother and his wife, Corwin and Betty Wilson, Onward; and two grandchildren, Kevin B. McNeill and Kelli A. McNeill, both of Atlanta.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Murray Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel. Minister Gary Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in Onward cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Rebecca Gaddis
Rebecca J. Gaddis, 56, 518 Naphew Lane, died at 7:54 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at Howard Community Hospital. Born Dec. 1, 1942 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Ernest R. Frew and Betty J. (Bolinger) Frew. In 1963, she married
Ralph F. Gaddis, who died Dec. 5, 1990. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Jeff Masters, Peru; a son, Ralph F. Gaddis III, Kokomo; six grandchildren, Tosha, Joshua, Thomas, Cami, Britini, Jena; four sisters, Patricia Wallace, Rhoda Curtis, Nina Townsend, all of Kokomo; Jeanie Miller, Walton; two nephews, Eddie and Zachary; four nieces, Danielle, Niki, Jenessa and Michelle. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, a daughter, and a brother.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lighthouse Church, corner of Market and Harrison streets. Brother Calvin Peck will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Ellers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
William ‘Bill’ Hattabaugh
BUNKER HILL, Ind. -- William "Bill" Hattabaugh, 63, R. R. #1, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Born Oct. 19, 1935, in Salem, Ind., he was the son of Talmadge and Lottie (Roney) Hattabaugh, both who are deceased. On Aug. 2, 1968, he married
Margaret E. (Jackson) Hattabaugh, who preceded him in death April 12, 1999.
He retired Oct. 30, 1998, from skilled trades at Delco Electronics. He was a member of United Auto Workers #272, the Eagles, and a lifetime member of the Moose, all of Kokomo.
Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Townsend, Amanda Hattabaugh, Bunker Hill; four sons, Mike Greene, Bunker Hill; Marvin Dencel and Mark Dencel, Kokomo; and Rondal Dencel, Miami; three brothers, Joe Hattabaugh, Boston, Mass.; Eddie Hattabaugh, Oklahoma; Larry Hattabaugh, Kokomo; four sisters, Ruth Fleenor and Myra Attebrey, Kokomo; Rene Hiner, Bunker Hill; Shirley Hicks, Virginia; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters.

L. Kent Hedges
L. Kent Hedges, 33, R.R. #2, Russiaville, died at 12:05 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at his home. Born May 2, 1966, in Kokomo, he was the son of Lawrence D. and Rachel (Farlow) Hedges.
He graduated in 1984 from Haworth High School. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. He worked at Sears Department Store. He was owner/operator of L.K. Hedges Productions, co-owner of Kokomo .Net Web Designs and was the janitor at New London Friends Meeting. He had a "passion" for softball in the city league, the Blue Society, and computers.
Surviving are his mother, Rachel Hedges, Kokomo; father and stepmother, Lawrence D. and Betty Hedges, Kokomo; two stepbrothers and one sister-in-law, Sgt. Kirk and Melissa Amos, Fort Campbell, Ky.; Clarke Hedges, Greenwood; one stepsister, Lori Burton, Fishers; three aunts and uncles, Nathan and Marjorie Farlow, Russiaville; Tom and Mary Hedges, West, Ontario, Canada; Herb and Thelma Hedges, Long Beach, Calif.; a special friend, Caron Mann; five cousins and spouses, Lori and Tom Maxidon, Muncie; Tom and Karen Hedges, Brampton, Ontario, Canada; Debbie and Mike Gay, Janice and Dan Wait, all of Long Beach, Calif.; and Randy Farlow, Kokomo. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Herbert and Helen (Newby) Farlow and Thomas and Mary (Davies) Hedges.

Pauline McAninch
Pauline L. McAninch, 93, a resident of Sycamore Village Health Care Center, died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at the facility. Born May 13, 1906, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Frank and Ollie (Hoppes) Johnston. On Dec. 8, 1929, in Kokomo, she married
Elston C. McAninch, who preceded her in death April 17, 1990.
She was a 1924 graduate of Kokomo High School and graduated in 1929 with a degree in nursing from Deaconess Hospital in Indianapolis. She was employed as a registered nurse and administrator at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for many years. She taught and worked as an administrator at Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Center, retiring in 1976. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling and being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of The Friends Church where she was a birthright member and Hemlock Friends Church where she taught Sunday school and had a children’s ministry.
Surviving are twin sons, Robert E. McAninch and his wife Judy, and Richard N. McAninch and his wife, Linda, all of Kokomo; one daughter, Barbara J. Oyler, Sebring, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Jeffery McAninch, Noblesville; Cindy Welch and her husband John, Tipton; Richard E. McAninch and his wife Barbara, Galveston; Christine Yard and her husband Jerry, Kokomo; Mark McAninch, Kokomo; Terri Fisher and her husband Dale, Olympia Fields, Ill.; and Robert Chapman, Warsaw; seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Hallie E. Fenn, two grandchildren, Robert E. McAninch and Michael McAninch.

Phyllis (Wood) Plona
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Phyllis Jean (Wood) Plona, 78, 4386 St. Annes Court, a former Kokomo resident, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at the Kingston Nursing Center in Conway, S.C. after an extended illness. Born May 10, 1921 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Cyril and Norma (Weaver) Wood. On March 24, 1954, in Lebanon, she married
Herbert "Sam" Plona who preceded her in death March 3, 1991.
She was a graduate of Washington Park High School, Racine, Wis., and attended Kokomo Business College. During her career with the Sheriff’s Department, she served as 1st deputy and office manager under Sheriff Elwood Luellen. She had also been employed by Hamilton-Harris and Zintsmaster Chevrolet. In the early 1970’s she ran for the office of Kokomo City Clerk. During World War II she did art work for the U.S. government and was a department store model in her youth. She also worked for her mother in her mother’s business, Norma’s Pie Shop. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church, Kokomo Women’s Department Club, Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Howard County Republican Women’s Club, Women of the Moose, Eagles, and the Rose Society. She was active in the United Way, March of Dimes, and the American Heart Association.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Chiolero, Myrtle Beach; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bill and Helen Wood, Kenosha, Wis.; Jack and Pat Wood, Shelbyville, Ind.; Paul Wood, Ladson, S.C.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Patricia Fisher, Sun City, Ariz.; Crystal and David Stover, Bringhurst, Ind.; Harriet and David Brennenberg, Anderson, Ind.; Peggy Milan, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister-in-law Fran Fisher, Greentown, Ind.; four step-grandchildren, Steve Chiolero, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Linda Kraemer, Washington, Ill.; Peter Chiolero, Alpha, Ill.; Ann Glen, LeClaire, Iowa; nine step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Jerry Fisher, and one stepsister, Betty Musselman.

Frank Hinkle
RICHMOND HILLS, Ga. -- Frank Douglas Hinkle, 53, 27 Jack Snipe East Court, formerly of Walton, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999 at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C. Born Sept. 30, 1945 in Kokomo, he was the son of Jay Ross and Wilma Jean Hinkle, Walton.
He retired from the U.S. Army in 1998 after 20 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #418, Walton, Ind., and the Christian Church, Walton.
Surviving are his mother; two brothers, Phillip Dean Hinkle, Indianapolis, Richard Jay Hinkle, Laurel, Md.; a sister, Sue Ellen Woolever, Walton; three nieces; two nephews; five great nieces; two great nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
