Clara Westlake Church, 92, of Edwardsburg, formerly of Elkhart, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday (Oct. 14, 2002) at the home of her daughter, Joy Oswalt, in Edwardsburg, with whom she had lived for the last five years.

MARIE W. KAISER
Marie W. Kaiser, 94, of Thornapple Street, formerly of Elkhart, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday (Oct. 14, 2002) at Nelson's Foster Care Home in White Cloud. The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. (Indiana time) Thursday at Center Point cemetery in Center Point, Ind. There will be no visitation.

HOBART E. FARNEY
Hobart Edward Farney, 86, of 556 E. John St., died at 8:30 p.m. Monday (Oct. 14, 2002) at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee Chapel.

MABEL I. MAST
Mabel Irene Mast, 65, of 8605 W. 750 S., died at 5:05 p.m. Monday (Oct. 14, 2002) at Goshen General Hospital. Friends will be received all day today at the family home. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the home of Melvin Miller, 7615 S. 900 W., Ligonier, and officiated by Bishop Willard.

JEWEL A. STEIDER
Jewel Ann Steider, 54, of 1901 Osolo Road, died in her home at 5:20 p.m. Monday (Oct. 14, 2002). On Oct. 12, 1948, she was born in Benton Harbor, Mich., to Frank and Vonnie (Lairson) Genovese. She married Bryan D. Steider on Jan. 20, 1995, in Elkhart, and he survives.

ROSALIE P. KERSHNER
Friends of Rosalie P. Kershner may call for two hours before the service at noon Friday at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. The Rev. John J. Overmyer with St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will officiate, and burial will be at St. Vincent cemetery.

LOIS I. BOYER
Lois I. Boyer, 82, of Inwood, died at City Hospital on Wednesday (Oct. 9, 2002). Mrs. Boyer was born in Steger, Ill., on July 4, 1920, to Fred and Mable (Lake) Kufeldt. She is survived by a son, Roger L., (Ara) of Inwood.

ALAN R. BELL
Alan R. Bell, 44, of Benbrook, formerly of Elkhart, died Saturday (Oct. 12, 2002) in Fort Worth. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, followed by burial at Greenwood Memorial Park. Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth is in charge of arrangements.

HARRIET E. MILLER
Harriet Elizabeth Miller, 87, of 1488 Hampton Circle, died at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 15, 2002) at Greencroft Gables. Arrangements are pending at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home.

ROLAND E. PEPPER
Roland E. Peppers, 74, of Cardinal Health and Rehabilitation, formerly of Elkhart, died at 11:40 p.m. Friday (June 28, 2002) in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 29, 1928, in Granger to Alvia and Mary (Snyder) Peppers. He was divorced.

PAULINE D. UTLEY
Pauline Daniels Utley, 77, formerly of Ligonier, died at 8 a.m. Friday (June 28, 2002) in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center after being hospitalized three weeks. She was born on Aug. 28, 1924, in Wolf Lake to Nicklos and Etta Mae (Addis) Herron. She married Elbert Daniels in 1945. He died in 1980.

WOODROW SPRINGER
Woodrow Springer, 86, of 1430 Alamo Ave., formerly of Centreville and Mendon, died last Saturday (June 22, 2002) in Metron of Kalamazoo Nursing Home following an extended illness. The body has been cremated. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

JOHN E. SCHLABACH
John E. Schlabach, 71, of 10942 C.R. 32, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday (June 29, 2002) in a truck-bicycle accident near his home. He was born on Nov. 30, 1930 to Emanuel and Nora (Miller) Schlabach in LaGrange County. He married Wilma Yoder on Nov. 15, 1956.

HERBERT M. MYERS
Herbert Max Myers, 66, of 59037 C.R. 17, died suddenly at his residence Saturday afternoon (June 29, 2002). Arrangements are pending at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

MILDRED J. GEYER
Mildred J. Geyer, 82, formerly of 554 E. John St., Nappanee, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday (June 27, 2002) at Miller's Merry Manor, where she lived since 1994. She was born on March 22, 1920, in South Bend to Frank and Bertha Kraft and married John J. Geyer on June 23, 1946.
He died on Dec. 20, 1994.

STANLEY MERRITT
Stanley Merritt, 67, of 51681 C.R. 109, died at 5:19 p.m. Thursday (June 27, 2002) at home. He was born on Oct. 18, 1934, to Curtis and Mae (Stewart) Merritt in Clermont, Fla. He married Victoria Terry in 1953 in Georgia, and they later divorced. He married Doris Williams in 1976 in Elkhart.

LYDIAN A. SCHROCK
Lydian A. Schrock, 34, of 4635 W. 100 N., died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday (June 27, 2002) in her home. Miss Schrock was born on Nov. 26, 1967, in LaGrange to Andrew J. and Katie E. (Petersheime) Schrock.

CHARLES M. ELDER
Charles M. Elder, 60, of Lakeland, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., and Edwardsburg, Mich., died at 7:05 p.m. Monday (Nov. 17, 2008) in his sister's home in Lakeland. He was born Feb. 15, 1948, in Mt. Hope, W.Va., to Joseph Danile and Bernice Elizabeth (Burgess) Elder.

MARY E. MILLER
Mary Elaine Miller, 36, of 55514 C.R. 8, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 19, 2008) in her home after a 7 1/2-year battle with cancer. She was born May 5, 1972, to Vernon and Alta (Marks) Miller in Elkhart County. She is survived by her mother; one brother, Samuel A. Miller; and three sisters, Rebecca I., E. Ruth and Kathleen J. Miller.

WANDA L. GARCIA
Wanda Lee Garcia, 57, of North O'Keefe Street, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 16, 2008) in her daughter's home in Redford after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 4, 1951, in Chicago. On July 2, 1994, she married Jose J. Garcia in Cassopolis.

BOYD H. NELSON
Boyd H. Nelson, 89, of 1300 Greencroft Drive, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2008) in his home from congestive heart failure. He was born June 20, 1919, in Kanaranzi Township, Rock County, Minn., to Benjamin H. and Fern Mae (Everett) Nelson. On May 23, 1948, he married Welma Barbara Graber in Wayland, Iowa. She died June 4, 1996.

DANNY R. RINEHART
Danny Ray Rinehart, 66, of Goshen, died at 1:12 p.m. Friday (Nov. 14, 2008) in his home. He was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Powellton, W.Va., to Denzil "Babe" and Naomi "Naoma" (Kinder) Rinehart. On July 17, 1971, he married Donna K. Haven in Elkhart.

ELVIRY BURTIS
Elviry Holliday Burtis, 81, of Elkhart, died at 11:42 a.m. Monday (Nov. 17, 2008) in her home. She was born July 24, 1927, in Fayette, Ala., to Howard and Madie (Blackburn) Andrews. In 1942, she married Arlandis Holliday in Blytheville, Ark.; they divorced. She married Alfred Burtis on May 13, 1979, in Elkhart. He died May 26, 1988.

ERMA J. MILLER
Erma J. Miller, 80, of Elkhart, died at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 19, 2008) in Hubbard Hills Estates. She was born June 20, 1928, in Elkhart to Charles and Bertha (Nusbaum) Metzler. On Oct. 10, 1948, she married Kenneth L. Miller in Elkhart.

JOHN J. LOCHMANDY
Mr. John J. Lochmandy, 68, former 33-year resident of Elkhart, Ind., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay. He was born in South Bend, Ind., and lived in Barefoot Bay, Fla., for six years, coming from Palm Coast. John was a member of the Sebastian Model Train Club and co-publisher and editor of the Barefoot Tattler in Barefoot Bay.

LAVERN E. MASON JR.
Lavern Edwin Mason Jr., 57, of 1121 Bare Point Road, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died Monday (Nov. 17, 2008) in his home after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born June 2, 1951, in Elkhart, to Lavern Sr. and Helen (Peffley) Mason. On Sept. 18, 1971, he married Catherine Spencer in Elkhart.

LOUISE GRIFFIN
Louise Griffin, 57, of Elkhart, died at 3:22 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 16, 2008) in her home after a long illness. She was born March 5, 1951, in Bell City, Mo., to Louis and Myrtle (Mackey) Jackson. On Dec. 10, 1969, she married Henry Griffin Jr. in Elkhart.

STEVEN A. GATTMAN
Steven Allen Gattman, 52, of 53270 Ridgewood Drive, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday (Nov. 17, 2008) in Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. He was born Aug. 31, 1956, in Elkhart to G. Beach and Ruth (Bloedel) Gattman. On Nov. 18, 2007, he married Kathleen K. (Komora) Covard in Islamorada, Fla.
