LAKE PLACID, Fla. — Zola F. (Roach) Collins, 79, of Lake Placid, formerly of Elkhart, died in her home at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001).
Arrangements are pending at Johnson - Danielson Funeral Home in Plymouth.
LARRY E. YODER
July 16, 1982 - Feb. 6, 2001
TOPEKA — Larry Eugene Yoder, 18, of Topeka, died at 11:04 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001) at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne from injuries he suffered in a traffic accident at 450 North and S.R. 5 in Shipshewana.
He was born in Goshen on July 16, 1982, and is survived by his parents, Wyman Jr. and Ruby (Bontrager) Yoder of Topeka; three brothers, Duane R. of Nappanee, Mark A. and Steven L., both of Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. Harley (Waneta) Lambright of Shipshewana and Mrs. Howard (Doris) Schwartz of Topeka; a grandmother, Alice Bontrager of Topeka; and a special friend, Emily Lehman of Shipshewana.
Friends will be received all day today at the family home, 9415 W. 300 S., where the service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Bishop Sam Beechy and the Rev. Lloyd Miller will officiate and burial will be at Bontrager cemetery.
Mr. Yoder, a lifetime area resident, worked for Alvin Miller Construction Co. and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Ulrey - Renner Funeral Home in Ligonier is in charge of arrangements.
STEVEN D. PALMER
Feb. 1, 1959 - Feb. 4, 2001
GOSHEN — Friends of Steven David Palmer may call one hour before the memorial service at 3 p.m. today at Hartman Funeral Home. Pastor Charlie Winkleman with First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mr. Palmer, 42, of 915 N. Main St., died in his home at 2:42 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 4, 2001) after a sudden illness.
He was born in Goshen on Feb. 1, 1959, and served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his parents, Lloyd Palmer and Carol (Lindhorn) Manahan, both of Goshen; a son, Steven Daniel Palmer of Goshen; and two sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Susan) Gladieux of Syracuse and Sondra D. Palmer of Elkhart. His brother, Stewart D., died on Sept. 8, 1984.
Mr. Palmer worked for Forest River Inc.

ALAN J. CHESLEY
Aug. 29, 1949 - Feb. 7, 2001
WAKARUSA — Alan J. Chesley, 51, of 115 Sunset Court, died in his home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) after a four - year illness.
On Aug. 29, 1949, he was born in Phoenix to Horace and Betty (Kies) Chesley. He graduated in 1967 from Santa Cruz Valley Union High School, attended Southeast Missouri State University and Yuma Community College and married
Priscilla Smeltzer in Wakarusa on Aug. 18, 1978.
Mr. Chesley is survived by his wife; two sons, Jared and Jeremy, both at home; two brothers, John (Irma) of Florence, Ariz., and Bill (Rachel) of Chad, Africa; and a sister, Mrs. Dan (Carole) Beatty of Chandler, Ariz.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson - Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa Chapel, and one hour before the service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bible Baptist Church. The Rev. David Harper will officiate and burial will be at Olive East cemetery.
Mr. Chesley was a maintenance electrician at NIBCO Inc. in Goshen and a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Memorials may be given to the church or Wycliffe Bible Translators under Bill Chesley.
JANE A. KALB
Dec. 15, 1933 - Jan. 29, 2001
NORTH PORT, Fla. — Jane Ann Kalb, 67, of North Port, formerly of Elkhart, died Monday (Jan. 29, 2001) at Hospice of Southwest Florida in Venice.
The family will receive friends two hours before the memorial service at noon Saturday at Day Mortuary in Bloomington, Ind. Pastor David Woodcock will officiate and burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Kalb was born in Bloomington on Dec. 15, 1933, the daughter of Henry F. and Hattie B. (Zigler) Boxman, and graduated in 1955 from Indiana University, where she became a member of Chi Omega sorority.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce E. of Greenwood, Ind., and Michael D. of Bloomington; a daughter, Andrea Fisher of North Port; two grandchildren; and a brother, Charles H. Boxman of Indianapolis. Her husband, M. Edward Kalb, died in 1987.
Mrs. Kalb co - owned the Boxman Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants in Bloomington from 1967 to 1983. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Altrusa and International Business & Professional Women, volunteered with Meals - on - Wheels and was past chairman and treasurer of the American Cancer Society.

SCOTT A. TARGGART
Oct. 31, 1957 - Feb. 5, 2001
SYRACUSE — Scott A. Targgart, 43, of 16 EMS T51C, died Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
The son of Ronald D. Nichols and Marianne M. (Felger) Targgart, he was born in DeKalb County on Oct. 31, 1957. He married
Teresa L. Hurst in Fort Wayne on Feb. 17, 1984, and she survives.
Mr. Targgart also is survived by his father, of Lake Placid, Fla.; stepfather, Larry Targgart of LaGrange; one daughter, Joy M. of Syracuse; a son, Joshua S. of Syracuse; one stepson, Jonathan M. Hurst of Lake City, Tenn.; and two half sisters, Mrs. Harley (Marla) Miller of Wolcottville and Dawn Targgart of LaGrange.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the family home. There will be no visitation. Frurip - May Funeral Home in LaGrange was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Targgart was a self - employed sub - contractor and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Memorials may be given to the family.
JANET L. HANOVER
Aug. 19, 1936 - Jan. 15, 2001
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — Janet L. Hanover, 64, of Englewood, died on Jan. 15, 2001, in Sarasota after a six - week illness.
The memorial service was on Jan. 24 at Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood. Farley Funeral Home & Crematory, Venice Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hanover, the daughter of Everett and Dorothy (Mock) Skinner, was born in Constantine on Aug. 19, 1936, and moved to Florida five years ago.
She married
Richard F. Hanover on Aug. 4, 1956, and he survives with three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Denise) Harvell and Christina Shidler, both of Elkhart, and Lesa Shell of Englewood; a sister, Carol Brenneman of Englewood; five grandchildren and one great - granddaughter.
Mrs. Hanover was a homemaker and a member of the Edgewater Club of Englewood. She attended Calvary Baptist Church.

VELMA G. KRAUSE
Nov. 7, 1910 - Feb. 6, 2001
SOUTH BEND — Velma Grace Krause, 90, of South Bend, died on Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001) at St. Joseph Care Center.
Mrs. Krause was born in Carmi, Ill., on Nov. 7, 1910, the daughter of Charles T. and Ethel G. Williams, grew up in Tilton, Ill., and lived in South Bend since she was 16.
In 1928, she married
John B. Krause Sr. and he died in 1976. She is survived by four sons, John B. Jr. and Charles T. "Ted" (Gerry), both of South Bend, Thomas L. Sr. (Mary) of Shreveport, La., and Richard J. Sr. (Joleen) of Elkhart; 17 grandchildren; and several great - grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Guisinger Colonial Funeral Chapel, with a Rosary service at 3:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew Cathedral with Bishop Joseph Crowley and the Rev. Michael Heintz officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Krause was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, where she was active with Harvest House and the Rosary Society.

ORRIE L. LYTELL
Aug. 23, 1920 - Feb. 4, 2001
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Orrie L. Lytell, 80, of Fort Myers, formerly of Elkhart, died Sunday (Feb. 4, 2001) at Hope Hospice.
Mr. Lytell was born in Auburn, Ind., on Aug. 23, 1920, to William J. and Nora (Moninger) Lytell. In 1939, he was the Golden Glove Boxing Champion in South Bend and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; three sons, Jimmie (Lynn) and the Rev. William J. (Cathy) Lytell, both of Estero, Fla., and Lewis (Patricia) of Elkhart; two brothers, Larson (Becky) and George (Betty), both of Elkhart; four sisters, Mrs. Richard (Lorraine) Mangum of Syracuse, Mrs. Edward (Leanna) Walerko of Elkhart, Mrs. Max (June) Strater of Chetek, Wis., and Mrs. Stan (Norma) Bender of Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, where the service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lytell lived in Elkhart until 1984. He was an SRA and state certified real - estate appraiser for the VA and FHA. In 1984 he moved to Florida, where he continued to appraise real estate until May 2000.
For many years he served as a church deacon, Sunday school teacher and layman minister.
MILDRED L. LAKE
May 30, 1906 - Feb. 5, 2001
ELKHART — Mildred L. Lake, 94, of Elkhart, died in her home at 2:40 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2001).
The daughter of Claude J. and Lillian (Reading) McBeth, she was born in Elkhart on May 30, 1906, and married
Forest Lake on Sept. 3, 1926. He died in February 1978.
Mrs. Lake is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Barbara J.) Mollentine of Overland Park, Kan.; a son, Robert L. of Lakewood, Calif.; three grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and one brother, Robert D. McBeth of Columbia, S.C.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Seventh - day Adventist Church in Elkhart with the Rev. Don Inglish and the Rev. Stan Wilkinson officiating. Hartzler - Gutermuth - Inman Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and burial will be at Rice cemetery.
Mrs. Lake worked for many years as a private duty nurse in the Elkhart area, retiring in 1970. She was a member of the Seventh - day Adventist Church, Married Women's Club and Starlight Chapter 181 OES.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
LELA D. HAAG
HOWE — Lela D. Haag, 67, of 4385 N. 225 E., died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001) at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

ERMA D. KINTIGH
Feb. 11, 1918 - Feb. 4, 2001
GOSHEN — Friends of Erma D. Kintigh may call one hour before the service at 11 a.m. today at Hartman Funeral Home. Pastor Pam Kling with First United Methodist Church of Goshen will officiate and burial will follow at Violett cemetery.
Mrs. Kintigh, 82, of 2400 College Ave., died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 4, 2001) at Carriage Manor Nursing Home.
The daughter of Byron and Elva (Sheffield) Doll, she was born in Syracuse on Feb. 11, 1918, and married
Harold Kintigh in Goshen on Oct. 24, 1936. He died on July 15, 1968.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Roes of Perry, Fla.; two grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Doll of Elkhart. Two sisters, Madeline Burton and Magurite Alway; and a brother, Larry Doll, are deceased.
Mrs. Kintigh formerly owned and operated the Kintigh Camera & Hobby Shop and also worked as a retouch artist at Biltmore Studios. She was a member of Goshen Chapter 397 OES and a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club.
Memorials may be given to the Shriner Hospital for Children.
