Francis R. Wallace Jr.
Francis R. Wallace Jr., 65, Attica, died at 6 a.m. March 4, 2000, from injuries sustained in a two - car accident on U.S. 41, south of Attica.

Mr. Wallace was a foreman for the Indiana Department of Transportation in the Fowler District for 23 years, and retired in 1999. He had previously worked several years at Harrison Steel Castings Co.

He attended school in Glasgow, Ky., and later attended drafting classes in Louisville, Ky. He had lived in Attica since 1967.

He served in the Army National Guard in Kentucky, and attended a Baptist church there. He was a member of Attica Eagles Lodge 2596.

He was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Buchanan, Mich., to Francis Rozelle and Fannie Crews Wallace. He married Ramona "Mona" Knowles in Frankfort, on Oct. 19, 1974, and she survives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastor Neil Jefferies officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery, Attica. Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Charles 'Bud' Covey
Charles "Bud" Covey, 69, Lafayette, died March 1, 2000, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis.

Mr. Covey lived in Frankfort until moving to Lafayette in 1963. He attended Reitz High School in Evansville, and had worked 18 years for General Foods. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the John Purdue Club. He also was a life member of the Evansville American Legion.

He was born March 6, 1930, in Covington. He married Virginia Kanable on May 30, 1953, and she survives.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Soller - Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Burial will follow at Green Lawn cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Ruby Katherine Harrell
Ruby Katherine Harrell, 84, 2863 S. U.S. 421, Frankfort, died at 7:45 p.m. March 15, 2000, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.

Mrs. Harrell worked 18 years for Unilectric and retired in 1982. She was a member of the Eagles, Moose and American Legion ladies' auxiliaries.

She was born July 1, 1915, in Cambria, to William and Manda Judd Elkins. She married David K. Harrell on Nov. 20, 1948, and he died in 1983.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Frye & Genda Funeral Home, with Pastor Merton Bobo officiating. Burial will follow at Kilmore cemetery. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. today.

Elizabeth Jane Levell
Elizabeth Jane Levell, 83, 551 E. Walnut St., died at 3:05 p.m. Feb. 22, 2000, at ExtendaCare of Frankfort following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Levell worked many years in the offices of Schlosser Bros. and Peoples Life Insurance Co., both in Frankfort. She was a member of J.O.F. Bridge Club and Frankfort Elks Auxiliary. She also was a member of First Christian Church and involved in literary research.

She was a 1934 graduate of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis.

She was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Clinton County, to William Earl and Carrie Miner Kersey. She married Harley Thomas Levell in St. Charles, Mo., on April 15, 1942, and he died June 15, 1985.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to any charity.

Martha Jean Black
Martha Jean Black, 74, Dayton, Ohio, died at 10:50 p.m. March 16, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton following a sudden illness.

Mrs. Black was a native of Clinton County and formerly attended Whitestown Baptist Church in Whitestown. She worked for General Motors while living in Indiana.

She was born June 1, 1925, in Michigantown, to Chester and Elizabeth DePuckett Williams. She married Joseph G. Black, and he survives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Community Grace Brethren Church, Huber Heights, Ohio, with Pastor Bob Foote officiating. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Southlawn cemetery near South Bend. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday at Kindred Funeral Home, Englewood, Ohio, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William Mack Merrill
William Mack Merrill, 82, Lebanon, died Feb. 24, 2000, at Riverview Hospital.

Mr. Merrill was a dairy farmer in the Scircleville area for many years.

He was a member and elder of Elizaville Christian Church, and a member of Gideons International.

He was born July 9, 1917, in Sheridan, to Carmel and Lucy Kathleen McCarty Merrill. He married Amy Evelyn Wallace on Aug. 13, 1938, and she died Sept. 2, 1999.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kercheval Funeral Home, Sheridan, with the Rev. Edwin Roark and the Rev. Robert Whistler officiating. Burial will follow at Crown View cemetery, Sheridan. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to the church or Gideons International.

Lula M. Reed
Lula M. Reed, 88, Clinton House Convalescent Center, died at 12:40 a.m. March 1, 2000, there.

Mrs. Reed. was a farm wife and a member of Michigantown United Methodist Church. She lived in Carroll County until she was 6 and her family moved to the Beard area. She was a 1930 graduate of Frankfort High School.

She was born Feb. 11, 1912, in Carroll County, to Samuel C. and Pearl Dorsey Schenck. She married Oyette McBride in 1943 and he died July 12, 1946. She married Austin Reed in 1952, and he died in 1971.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Goodwin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Whiteman cemetery, Michigantown. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday.

Martha J. Nicholls
Martha J. Nicholls, 88, Kokomo, died at 11:47 p.m. March 7, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center there.

Mrs. Nicholls was a homemaker. She was a 1929 graduate of Losantville High School.

She was born July 29, 1911, in Randolph County, to Ray B. and Flossie Rawlings Lindsey. She married Ted L. Nicholls on Sept. 11, 1938, and he died July 20, 1997.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel of Love, with the Rev. David Herr officiating. Entombment will follow. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville, is in charge of arrangements.

Esther 'Maxine' Costello
Esther "Maxine" Costello, 70, Chatsworth, Ill., died Feb. 29, 2000, at Alterra Sterling Home in Apple Valley, Minn.

Mrs. Costello worked as a bank teller at Citizens State Bank of Chatsworth for 10 years. She also had been co - owner of Costello's Town & Country Market for 30 years and for Huber's Clothing Store in Fairbury for 10 years. She was a member of Chatsworth United Methodist Church, and a 50 - year member of Watseka Order of Eastern Star. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years.

She was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Forest, to Clifford and Mamie Dennis. She married Charles E. Costello in Dayton on Jan. 22, 1949, and he survives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chatsworth United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Kettelcamp officiating. Burial will follow at Chatsworth cemetery. Calling hours are 4 - 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hager Memorial Home, Chatsworth.

Memorials may be made to any charity.

James S. McQuern
James S. McQuern, 90, Lafayette, died at Mulberry Lutheran Home at 6:15 p.m. Feb 24, 2000.

Mr. McQuern worked at Alcoa for 30 years and was a member of the Alcoa 25 - year club. He was also a farmer.

He was born June 16, 1909, in Clinton County, to Guy and Ida Lipp McQuern. He married Mary L. Disinger on March 26, 1937, and she survives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Frye & Genda Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn cemetery. Calling hours are 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Zelma Gleason
Zelma Gleason, 64, of Buena Vista, Ga., died Feb. 27, 2000, in Ellaville, Ga.

Mrs. Gleason was born July 8, 1935, in Indiana, to William O. and Vera J. Chaney Shoemaker. She had formerly lived in Clinton County for 32 years. She had lived in Buena Vista, Ga., for the past 32 years and was a member of the Oakland Church of God.

Services were March 1 at the Oakland Church of God.

Donald Lee Lecklitner
Donald Lee Lecklitner, 66, 1608 S. CR 1230E, Frankfort, died at 8:45 a.m. Feb. 25, 2000, at his home after an eight - month illness.

Mr. Lecklitner was a meat cutter at Marsh Supermarket for the past 10 years. He previously worked in a radio repair shop in Frankfort. He lived in Sugar Creek Township for 45 years.

He was a 1952 graduate of Sheridan High School. He attended Purdue University for a year. He was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church, Beard Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge #7, and the Clinton County Amateur Radio Club.

He was born Feb 13, 1934, in Sheridan, to David and Ethel Mae Smith Lecklitner. He married Sara Alice Loveless on Oct. 3, 1953, at the Hills Baptist Church, and she survives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Goodwin Funeral Home. Calling is one hour prior to services. Masonic Rites will be performed by the Beard Masonic Lodge.

Memorials may be made to Clinton County Amatuer Radio Club.

Margaret June Glass
Margaret June Glass, 42, 100 W. Jefferson St., Colfax, died at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 26, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Glass was a hairdresser and worked at the Split Ends Beauty Shop, Colfax, for 23 years. She was a 1975 graduate of Western Boone High School and 1976 graduate of Metropolitan Beauty School in Lebanon.

She was a member of Thorntown Baptist Church and Colfax American Legion Auxiliary.

She was born May 28, 1957, in Lebanon, to Margaret Dukes. She married Charles Glass in Colfax on July 12, 1981, and he survives.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, Thorntown, with the Rev. Altum officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview cemetery, Colfax. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent's Hospice, Indianapolis.
