Carolyn S. Brooks
July 18, 1936 - Dec. 2, 2004
Carolyn Sears Brooks, 68, Anderson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Dec. 2, 2004. She passed away at Community Hospital Emergency Room after an extended illness.
She was born July 18, 1936, in Shelborn, Ind., and had lived in the Anderson area since the 1940's. She was an enrolled agent with H&R; Block tax preparers.
She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and had been a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the NRA.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Dalton R. Brooks; a son, Doug (wife, Holly) Brooks; two grandchildren, Kyle and Brooke Brooks, all of Anderson; siblings, Virginia (husband, Russell) Lazenby, Jeaneane (husband, Gordon) Jacobs, George (wife, Jane) Sears, Candice (husband, Brad) Power and Greg (wife, Becky) Sears, all of Anderson; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Martha (John) Swafford, Gwen Weaver and Ruth (Howard) Hamilton; and special friends, Pat and Jim Roundtree and Diana West.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Brooks, in 1989.
Services will be conducted at noon Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Tom Lutz officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood cemetery.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church, Anderson.
Donald R. Wells
Oct. 9, 1932 - Dec. 1, 2004
Donald Ralph Wells, 72, Anderson, died Dec. 1, 2004, at Community Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Muncie, and lived most of his life in Anderson. He retired from General Motors in 1991 after 37 years at Fisher Body in Marion. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He attended Vermillion Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Vermillion Wells, whom he married
March 31, 1956; three children, Rick (wife, Amy) Wells of Elwood, Rita (husband, Tim) Zion of Anderson and Jeff (wife, Barb) Wells of Anderson; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Sean Smith (Rita's children); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beverly and Keith Leaky, Connie and Bill Wrin, and Lee Vermillion; half brother, David Wells; sister-in-law, Lynn Wells, all of Anderson; an aunt, Thelma Kellam of Anderson; special pet and constant companion, Barney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Wells; sister, Marian Gerber; father, Ralph Wells; and mother, Pauline (Louden) Wells Good.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Johnny Cox of the Vermillion Christian Church, and Willard Plunk, Redeemer Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joyce M. Boulware
Feb. 26, 1960 - Dec. 1, 2004
Joyce Marie Boulware was born on Feb. 26, 1960, in Anderson, the daughter of Robert and Ruby C. Boulware. She was sixth of eight children.
Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethesda Baptist Church. Joyce loved to sing and she sang in the choir for many years. You would often find her sitting in her room reading her bible singing one of those old gospel songs.
Joyce was educated in the Anderson Public Schools and was employed by White Castle where she worked for many years.
Joyce loved her boys. You would often hear her say, "My Boys, Darrell and Joshua". Her life was centered around "HER BOYS."
Joyce departed this life suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004. She leaves to cherish her memories her parents, Robert and Ruby C. Boulware of Anderson; two sons, Darrell G. Wilson, Jr. and Joshua E. Robinson, both of Anderson; four sisters, Mary Ann Johnson of Indianapolis, Bernadean Boulware and fiancee, Norvell Yokley of Detroit, Betty Boulware and fiancee Willie B. Davis, and Darlene (Eugene) Woods, both of Anderson; one brother, George Anthony (Andrea) Boulware; aunts, Ellarene Taylor, Bernadean Mitchem, Mamie (Charles) Pugh, Dorothy Anderson all of Anderson, Indiana, Dorothy Perry of Ridgeway, South Carolina, Nadine Anderson of Columbia, South Carolina, Statory Booker of Washington, D.C.; one uncle, Richard Boulware of Anderson; two special cousins, Barbara J. Scott and Sandy D. Pugh; special friends, LaGushia Harris, Janice Dowell and Kimberly Remson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bethesda Missionary Baptist in Anderson with the Rev. Viontta Traylor officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours before services Monday at the church.

Alice Ponsler Malson
Sept. 21, 1918 - Dec. 1, 2004
Alice (Ruddell) Ponsler Malson, 86, Anderson, died Dec. 1, 2004, at Rawlins House, Pendleton, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Anderson and lived all of her life in this area. She retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 22 years of service.
She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church and Ladies Elk. She enjoyed going to Tippecanoe Lake Cottage and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three children, Robert and wife Nicki Ponsler of Anderson, Karen Phillips of Anderson, and Ronald and wife Sue Ponsler of Florida; sister, Betty Talley; grandchildren, Kyle Ponsler, Kasey Ponsler, Maddi Gaw, Jesse Gaw, Dale Phillips, David Ponsler and Betsy Hepp; eight great-grandchildren; a nephew, Joe Ice; and her beloved dog, “Mollie.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Ponsler in 1955; her parents, Samuel and Iva Alice (Pike) Ruddell; and a sister, Juanita Ice.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with the Rev. Daryl Hamlyn officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the South Chapel.
Katherine F. Mills
Aug. 4, 1914 - Dec. 2, 2004
Katherine F. (Kissell) Mills, 90, Anderson, died Dec. 2, 2004, at Countryside Manor after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1914, in Sipsey, Ala., and lived in Anderson since 1935. She was employed in production at Container Corp. for 35 years, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Norwood Hills Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., and attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Anderson. She belonged to the North Anderson Senior Citizens and was formerly a member of the Mount Moriah Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a sister, Charlcey Beckman of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Mary Bennett of Anderson; cousin, Jewell Stanley of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mills in 1975; and her parents, Charles and Brazzie Kissell.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bronnenberg cemetery in Chesterfield.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
A special thanks to her three dedicated caregivers who tried hard to make her life comfortable during her last days. They are Diana Terry of Alexandria, Barbara Burnworth and Peggy Davidson, both of Anderson; and many thanks to St. John’s Home Health Care.

Helen L. (McCord) Russell, 83, Anderson, died Dec. 2, 2004, at Community Hospital, Anderson, after an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 5, 1921, in Anderson, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. She married
Herbert Russell Jr., in 1939.
She was a homemaker. She attended Cross Street Alliance Church.
She is survived by her five children, Janice Cox, Lois and husband Charles Stopher, Judy and husband Joed Stanley, Jim and wife Nancy Russell and daughter-in-law Jill Russell; eight grandchildren, Jason Hall, Lora Lawson, Wayne Michael Jr., Mark Michael, Jennifer Stanley, Shari Sczesny, Brian Russell and Justin Russell; 11 great-grandchildren, Bobbi Joe Clendenen, Samantha Lawson, Jesse Michael, Zachary Phipps, Chloe Phipps, Shayne Sczesny, Paige Sczesny, Breanna Sczesny, Farron Payne, Gus Hunnicut and Malee Michael; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jesse Ricketts
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert F. Russell, in 1985; a son, Herbert Russell Jr.; a great-grandson; four sons-in-law; five sisters; four brothers and her parents, Noah D. and Effie E. (Clem) McCord
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Westlund officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery.

Betty Hobbs
ELWOOD — Betty Hobbs, 71, Elwood, died Dec. 3, 2004, at the Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis.

Natalie G. Wallace
March 7, 1923 - Nov. 23, 2004
Natalie G. Wallace, 81, of Anderson, died Nov. 23, 2004, at her residence.
She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on March 7, 1923. She had lived in this area since 2000.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Anderson.
Survivors include seven children, Terra Faith and husband Harry “Butch” Stumpf of Pendleton, James Clayton and wife Linda Everet of Anderson, Christina Hope Wallace of Des Moines, Iowa, Scott and wife Sharon Wallace Fairfield, Texas, Carolyn Nini of Spring, Texas, Anita Hatfield of Cozumel, Mexico, and Lisa Garza of Conroe, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hadily Wallace, whom she married
in 1967; father, Clayton Elwood Baldwin; mother, Gladys “Peggy” (Clark) Franklin; brother, Clayton Franklin Baldwin; and son, Melvin Lee Everet.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1030 Delaware St., Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Raymond Bradley. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association; LifeStream; Habitat for Humanity or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Ethel K. Story

KOKOMO — Ethel K. Story, 98, Kokomo, died Dec. 2, 2004, at Waterford Place Health Campus.
She was born July 18, 1906 in Jasonville, Ind., the daughter of Grover Meredith and Millia (Hubbel) Acton. She was a 60-year member of Foursquare Gospel Church in Terre Haute.
She married
Melvin R. Story on June 25, 1928, in Vigo County.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Reel of Kokomo; grandchild and spouse, Sheila and Chris Bahler of Kokomo; grandchild, Scott Reel of Anderson; great-grandchild, Bryan Bahler; great-grandchild, Christane Bahler; great-grandchild, Adam Bahler; great-grandchild, Daniel Reel; great-grandchild, Erica Reel; sister, Dolly Fulk of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years, Melvin R. Story, on April 15, 1980; stepfather, Archie Acton; son-in-law, Stan Reel; brother, Charles Meredith; sister, Louise Morris; half brother, Ralph Acton; half brother, Thomas Acton; half sister, Betty Acton; and a half sister, Mary Shake.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Foursquare Gospel Church, 800 N. 13th St., Terre Haute, with the Rev. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn cemetery in Terre Haute.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.
