Rebecca Ruth (Springer) Wools, 84, Anderson, died Oct. 8, 2004, at Community Northview, Anderson, after an extended illness.
She was born April 24, 1920, in Anderson, and lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Jehovah Witness. She enjoyed her family.
She is survived by her four children, Linda Barnes and husband, Malcolm of Chesterfield, Bill Wools and wife, Jerry of Anderson, Kendra Koss and husband, Dr. Robert Koss of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Kandus Cage and husband, Joel of Cicero; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband, Losie W. Wools in 1995; her parents, George and Anna (Minton) Springer; and several brothers and sisters
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel. Burial will be in Miller cemetery, Middletown.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the South Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made payable to the Alzheimer's Association.
Roy C. Griffin
Dec. 29, 1949 - Oct. 6, 2004
Roy C. Griffin departed this life on Oct. 6, 2004, after an extended illness at Community Hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1949, in Preston, Miss., and moved to Anderson in 1967.
He worked at RCA in Marion for a short time and was a faithful employee at Guide Corporation, retiring after 33 years of service. He was also a member of UAW Local 663.
Roy was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He loved to ride his John Deere tractors and was an avid gardener. He maintained several gardens in the Anderson area.
Roy is survived by his wife, Mae (Jones) Griffin; three children, Da Vina C. Sawyer, Reginald C. Griffin and Melina F. Griffin; two grandchildren, De Jovaun Sawyer-Davis and Ja Breil Stith, all of Anderson; five sisters and three brothers, Mattie Billups, Ernestine Griffin and J.C. Griffin, all of Denver, Colo., Len (Sue) Griffin, Edna Griffin of Omaha, Neb., Albert 'Sonny' Griffin and Catherine (Cecil) Morrison of Preston, Miss., Yvette McKenzie of Anderson, one brother-in-law, Edward Earl Mosley of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Margaret (Jones) Griffin of Anderson and Helen Brown of Preston, Miss.; special friends, Elijah Hollingsworth of Kokomo and Michael Houchins of Anderson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, F.C. and Endie (Woods) Griffin; a brother, Odell Brown; one sister, Laura Mosley; two brothers-in-law, Tommie Billups and Bobby McKenzie.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Edgar M. Woodall officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gholar & Gholar Funeral Service, 2223 Nichol Ave., and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery.

Jessie M. Scott
Sept. 11, 1923 - Oct. 7, 2004
DALEVILLE - Jessie Mae (Gilbert) Scott, 81, Daleville, passed away Oct. 7, 2004, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She loved her God and family very much.
She was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Burkesville, Ky, the daughter of William and Fannie Mae Bunch Gilbert.
She moved to Daleville in 1954 and had been a homemaker most of her life.
She attended the Middletown Church of the Nazarene and had been active with her sons in the Daleville Little League.
Survivors include five sons, Gerry (Diane) Scott, Buzz (Leigh) Scott, Joe (Robin) Scott, Johnnie (Paula) Scott and Michael (Dean) Scott, all of Daleville, sisters: Maxine Wells of Patriot, Ohio, Betty Sue Keesling of Anderson and Mary E. Tompkins of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.; brothers, Keith (Mary Edna) Gilbert of Burkesville, Ky., John (Phyllis) Gilbert of Anderson, and Joe (Virginia) Gilbert of Morgantown; grandchildren, Shaun (Laura) Scott of Muncie, Christie (Kevin) Sommers of Suffolk, Va., Gina (David Hurley) Scott of Daleville, Paula Scott of Shirley, Corey (Erin) Scott of Muncie, Candy (Jason) Hensley of Shelbyville, Brandon, Shannon and Cody Scott, all of Daleville; great-grandchildren, Mercedes Crutcher, Dakota Hurley, Jack Scott, and Konner Sommers; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Frank Scott; and three brothers, Shelby, Charlie, and A.B. Gilbert.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 S. Walnut St., Daleville, with the Rev. David Farling officiating. Burial will follow at Saunders cemetery in Daleville.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the the American Heart Association.
Denny E. Durbin
May 20, 1928 - July 14, 2004
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. - Denny Eugene Durbin, 76, Bolingbrook, died July 14, 2004, in Rush Copley Medical Center, Aurora, Ill.
He was born May 20, 1928, in Kokomo, the son of the late Everett and the late Florence (Bulger) Durbin. After Denny graduated from Kokomo High School, he moved to Blue Island, Ill., where he met and married
Barbara J. Hill. They moved to Louisville, Ky., where he was a member of the Masonic Temple and was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by then Gov. Albert Benjamin Chandler. Denny and his family moved to Bolingbrook, Ill., where he loved for 43 years. Denny spent much of his career in sales of fabricating fastening products and retired from Medalist Fastener, Inc. of Chicago.
Denny was an avid bowler which he began as a young teen-ager. He earned many awards and was president of his league for many years. He once bowled a non-sanction perfect score of 300. In retirement, Denny enjoyed taping rare and memorable events. He enjoyed talking politics, cooking, watching sports and westerns, but most of all his grandchildren.
Denny is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Rodney (wife, Mae) Padfield, Dale, Diane (husband, Dave) Kuhlman, Becky, Lissa, Kipp (wife, Chae) Durbin; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; a sister, June Percy; a brother, Rex (wife, Jamie) Durbin.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Ruth Durbin; and a brother, Rowland Dean Durbin.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.
Monday at Crown Point cemetery, 1101 E. Sycamore St., Kokomo, with Bishop Joe Bulger officiating.

Kenneth Bowman
March 7, 1926 - Oct. 8, 2004
Kenneth Bowman, 78, of Anderson, died Oct. 8, 2004, at Community Hospital Anderson as the result of a sudden illness.
He was born March 7, 1926, in Evansville and lived most of his life in this area.
He was a veteran who served his country in the U. S. Marines during WW II.
He served as the area director for OSHA in both Cleveland, Ohio, and in Indianapolis. Prior to that, he had worked at Delco Remy in Anderson for 27 years; retiring in 1971.
He was a member of 38th Street Freewill Baptist Church in Anderson; the American Legion; and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Bowman Jr. and wife Cheryl of Anderson and Michael A. Bowman of Billings, Mont.; his brother, William P. Bowman Jr. and wife Rosemary of Pittsford, N.Y.; grandchildren, Zachary Bowman and Christopher Bowman, both of Anderson, Chelsea Watson and husband Jonathan of Ft. Rucker, Ala., and Josie Bowman of Billings, Mont.; great-grandchildren, Izaiah Watson and Kobe Watson, both of Ft. Rucker, Ala., and Kayleigh Bowman of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Wilborn) Bowman; his parents, William P. Bowman Sr. and Margaret (Coburn) Bowman; a son, Thomas Bowman; and a brother, Charles Bowman.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by Pastor Gary Marcum. Burial will take place at Grovelawn cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the South Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Brian J. Lloyd
Feb. 15, 1973 - Oct. 8, 2004
Brian J. Lloyd, 31, of Anderson, died Oct. 8, 2004, at his residence as the result of a sudden illness.
He was born Feb. 15, 1973, in Anderson and was a lifelong resident of the community.
He was a 1991 graduate of Madison Heights High School in Anderson.
For 12 years, he had been employed as a manager at Bob's Car Wash.
Survivors include his parents, Eileen Powell and husband Phillip of Anderson; his sister, Shelly Wagner of Anderson; nephew, Bradley Wagner of Anderson; aunts and uncles, Donna and Paul Riddle, Lois and Leon Justise and Ronald Lloyd, all of Anderson; step-brothers and step-sisters, Bruce and Theresa Powell of Anderson, Brad and Holly Powell of Noblesville, Kim and Rodney Creager of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Melinda and Brett Spangler of Anderson; and several step-nieces, step-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alva Lloyd; and grandmothers, Betty Lloyd and Dorothy Misenheimer.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Alvin Dayton. Burial will take place at East Maplewood cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the Tuesday service at the South Chapel.
Michael L. Hahn
Michael L. Hahn, 47, of Anderson, passed away Oct. 9, 2004, at his residence. Arrangements are pending at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood.
Mary L. Young
Nov. 8, 1946 - Oct. 8, 2004
Mary Lou (Kivi) Young, 57, of Anderson, died Oct. 8, 2004, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 8, 1946, in Anderson where she was a lifelong resident.
She was a graduate of Anderson High School, Class of 1966.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time at Chapman Lake, vacationing and being with her family.
A special thank you to Dr. Schier and Dr. Gelfman and the staff at St. Vincent Hospital for all the wonderful care they provided to Mary Lou.
Survivors include her parents, Roy W. and Norma B. Moore of Anderson; three daughters, Tammy and husband Steve Taylor, Toby Leland and husband, Derk and Nichole Young and her fiance' Troy Gibson, all of Anderson; two sisters, Marilyn and husband Doug Covington of Fairmount, Ill., and her twin, Christy and husband Ron Brown of Anderson; six grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Heather Thornberry, Logan Taylor, Lyndsey Gibson, Justin Leland and Levi Gibson; two step-grandchildren, Logan Leland and Bryan Leland; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are many special friends and her special pet companion, 'Jack.'
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael K. Young.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Paul Wolford. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Danville.
Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the Tuesday service at the funeral home.

Robert D. Morris
Jan. 9, 1928 - Oct. 7, 2004
Robert D. Morris, 76, Anderson, died in his sleep on Oct. 7, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Huntington, the son of Charles T. and Mary Ann (Murphy) Morris. He graduated from Huntington High School and moved to Anderson in 1948. He retired in 1983 from Conrail Railways after 35 years of employment.
He attended Whetstone United Church of Christ. He was a member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge 681, American Legion Post 127, Madison County Scottish Rite, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Madison County Shrine Club, Murat Shrine and the Democrat Rooster Club. He was a member and legislative lobbyist for the United Transportation Union, precinct committeeman and served as corporal in the 82nd Airborne unit during World War II. He served as city councilman for 12 years, serving as president in 1973 and 1976. He was lovingly known by his family as 'Uncle Boag.'
He is survived by four children, Deborah (husband, Cedric) Martin of Anderson, Denise (husband, James) Simon of Pendleton, William (wife, Teresa) Morris of Thorntown and Thomas Morris of Anderson; nine grandchildren, Jacob (wife, Alissa) Kean, Amy Martin, Ryan Martin, Spencer Morris, Seth Morris, Sam Morris, Adam Morris, Abram Morris and Alexa Morris; two step-grandchildren, Brianna Keen and Austin Keen; two brothers, Rever Morris and Gordon Morris; sister, Treva Douglas; several nieces and nephews; special friend and companion, Mary Armington; and beloved poodle, Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen (Cook) Morris; son, Mark Charles Morris; and seven brothers and sisters, Garth, James, Thomas, Charles, Edith, Pansy and Lydia.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, Anderson, with the Rev. Stephen Gettinger of Whetstone United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, and will include a 4:30 p.m. masonic memorial service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Shrine Club or The Shriner's Children's Hospital.
