Verna L. Schwartz
Verna L. Schwartz, 16, rural Geneva, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at her residence.
A member of the Old Order Amish, she was born on June 19, 1981, in Adams County, the daughter of William G. and Elizabeth K. Schwartz-Schwartz.
In addition to her parents, survivors include three sisters, Mary L., Irene L., and Elizabeth L., all at home; four brothers, William L. of Geneva, and Samuel L., Jacob L., and Enos L., all at home. A brother and a sister are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Schwartz residence at 998 W-850 S. Burial will be in Bunker Hill cemetery, rural Geneva. Calling at the residence is after 9 a.m. today.
Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, was in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas E. Mosser
Thomas E. Mosser, 76, Monroe, died Saturday at his residence.
A World War II veteran with the United States Army, Mr. Mosser was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church and a former member of the Geneva Lions Club. He retired in 1985 from International Harvester in Fort Wayne after 35 years of service.
He was born on December 14, 1921, in Geneva, the son of Joseph H. and Opal Haffner-Mosser. He was married
to Virginia "Judy" Thurman on May 29, 1946, in Lewistown, Illinois; she survives. Others surviving include three daughters, Toni Nevil of Berne, Mrs. James (Linda) Habegger of Geneva and Mrs. Steve (Carol) Witmer of Monroe;12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A son, Bradley; a brother, Waldo; and a sister, Elnora, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, with burial in the West Lawn cemetery, Geneva. Calling is from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Monroe United Methodist Church.

Dorothy M. Krause
Dorothy M. Krause, 59, Tucson, Arizona, died at 10 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital in Tuscon after suffering a cardiac arrest.
A native of Ohio City, Ohio, she is survived by her husband Homer E.; her father, Lester F. Weck of Ohio City; three sons; two sisters, including Mrs. Chuck (Marilyn) Kiess of rural Decatur; a stepdaughter, and four stepgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Tucson.

Lucile E. Bixler
Lucile E. Bixler, 92, Berne, died Monday at 3:04 p.m. in Swiss Village.
A homemaker, Mrs. Bixler was a member of Cross United Church of Christ in Berne, the Dorcas Circle, and was a children's teacher at the church.
Born in Poland, Indiana, on May 8, 1905, she was the daughter of the Rev. H. H. and Mary Steinhagy Kattmann. She was married
on July 22, 1928, to George Bixler; he died in 1976.
She is survived by a son, Roger of Lima, Ohio; three daughters, Carolyn Steiner of Berne, Mrs. Lloyd (Margaret) Kwok of Burlingame, California, and Janet Bixler of San Francisco; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Ruth Alice Bixler; a sister, Ruth Meckstrock; two brothers, Paul and Harold Kattman; and a great-grandson preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, with burial in the MRE cemetery. Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until time of services Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to Cross United Church of Christ.

Clarence Nevil
Clarence "Dub" Nevil, 71, Geneva, died at 8 p.m. Monday night at Chalet Village in Berne.
Mr. Nevil was the owner of the metal salvage yard in Geneva, of Nevil Auto Sales in Geneva, and also was a partner of Thelma's Clothing store in Geneva.
A member of the High Street United Methodist Church, Geneva, he was a veteran of World War II with the United States Army.
Born in Geneva on November 4, 1926, he was the son of Edward and Hazel L. Simons Nevil. He was married
to Thelma Loper on July 16, 1945; she died on September 22, 1994.
He is survived by two sons, Terry L. of Geneva and Virgil of Union City; a daughter, Ms. Larry (Gloria Jean) Baumer of Geneva; three sisters, Mildred Workinger and Elma Wolf, both of Geneva, and Majeska Wolf of Paulaski, Kentucky; a brother, Kenneth of Geneva, 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Downing Funeral Home, Geneva, with burial in the Riverside cemetery. Calling is from 2-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until time of services Friday.
Preferred memorials are to either the Nevil family or to the High Street United Methodist Church, Geneva.

Elma R. Gaunt
Elma R. Gaunt, 93, Decatur, died unexpectedly at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday in Woodcrest Nursing Center, where she had been a resident since January, 1994.
A lifelong resident of Adams County, Mrs. Gaunt was a member of the Calvary E.U.B. Church, the Ladies of the Moose, and the Jolly Housewives Home Ec Club. A homemaker, she was a former custodian at the Decatur Public Library and was a long-time Republican precinct committeeman in Union Township.
Born on June 9, 1904, in Union Township, she was the daughter of Herman and Alice Hedges Beltz Bittner. She married
Wayne Z. Gaunt on July 19, 1922; he preceded her in death on December 20, 1980.
Survivors include three sons, Bill and Thomas of Decatur, and Roger of Winona Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Elnora) Braun of rural Decatur and Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Gribler of rural Willshire, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, eight half-sisters, four half-brothers, and a stepsister.
The Women of the Moose, Bluffton Lodge, will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. Thursday at Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and funeral services will be held thjere at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor cemetery, Decatur. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 11:30 a.m. until time of services Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Willshire Church of God.

Ernest L. Strasburg
Ernest L. Strasburg, 68, Fort Wayne, died Monday at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons, including Jim Strasburg of Decatur; a daughter; four stepsons; a stepdaughter; three brothers; two sisters and seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Park cemetery Chapel, Fort Wayne. Calling will be from 3-4 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

Nevo M. Lunn
Nevo M. Lunn, 80, Berne, died at 2:10 a.m. today at Adams County Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the High Street United Methodist Church, Geneva.
Born on January 22, 1918, she was married
to Maurice J. Lunn in August of 1937; he preceded her in death on January 28, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald G. of Berne and Robert J. of Wabash; two daughters, Grace Saxberg of Cooperstown, North Dakota, and Gladys Bitz of Portland; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the West Lawn cemetery, Geneva. Funeral arrangements are pending at Downing Funeral Home, Geneva.

Paul E. Rupert
Paul E. Rupert, 86, Ossian, died at 12:10 a.m. today at the Ossian Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was married
in Adams County to Mabel McBride; she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Wilma Jean Krueckeberg of Decatur, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Elzey and Haggard Funeral Home, Ossian, with calling from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Oak Lawn cemetery, Ossian.
Preferred memorials are to the Ossian Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Herman C. Uhrick
Herman C. Uhrick, 80, Portland, died Sunday in Portland Community Care Center. Among survivors are two sons; a brother; and two sisters, including Betty Anderson, Geneva.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Green Park cemetery in Portland. Visiting hours are 6-8 p.m. today in Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland.

Lorena Theilacker
Lorena Theilacker, 87, Ontario, California, a native of Decatur, died Saturday in California.
Her husband, George Theilacker, is deceased. Among survivors are five sons; two brothers, including Carl Bischoff, Decatur; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Ontario.

Myron C. Hart
Myron C. Hart, 81, Berne, died at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday in Adams County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 13, 1916 in Adams County to Clinton V. and Zelda Schnitz Hart. He married
Arbie E. Tumbleson on December 24, 1939; she survives.
He retired in 1980 as a mechanic at Dierkes Implements in Decatur and also worked for Walt's Motor Sales in Decatur. He attended Bethel Brethren Church and was a lifetime Adams County resident.
Other survivors are two sons, Norman L. Hart, Auburn, and Robert M. Hart, Berne; a daughter, Mrs. Rex (Carolyn L.) Kuhn, Monroe; a brother, Gerald H. Hart, Decatur; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Betty L.) Tester, High Lake, Indiana; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Bethel Brethren Church, with burial in Springhill cemetery, rural Berne. Visiting hours are 2-9 p.m. Thursday in Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, and 9-10 a.m. Friday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to The Gideons International.
