Mabel L. Zigler
Mabel L. Zigler, 80, Dunkirk, died April 26 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Among survivors are two daughters; a son; two sisters; and three brothers, including James Reading, Monroe.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in Dunkirk.

Ralph E. Smith Sr.
Ralph E. Smith Sr., 92, longtime resident of 311 N. Ninth St., died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday in Chalet Village Health Care Center at Berne.
He was born on April 7, 1905 in Pleasant Mills to Amos Z. and Mary V. Sheets Smith and married
Charlotte F. Clark on June 10, 1930. She died on November 4, 1989.
A chemist, he owned Smith Dairy in Decatur from 1947 until his retirement in 1966. He formerly worked for Kraft Foods at Kendallville, Crawfordsville, and Decatur, and for the Sealtest Ice Cream Co. in Huntington.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur, was a former custodian there, and a member of United Methodist Men. He received an agricultural dairy degree from Purdue University and was a member of the church bowling league since 1955.
Surviving are a son, Ralph E. Smith Jr., Decatur; two brothers, Allen Smith, Ortonville, Michigan, and Roy Smith, Evansville; three sisters, Irene Gay, Greenville, Michigan; Ruth Johns, Van Wert, Ohio; and Mrs. Lawrence "Pete" (Veda) Smith, Decatur; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Mabel Goodrich and Janice Jones; three brothers, Lowell, Orley, and Marion Smith; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church, with burial in Decatur cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

Mary L. Salyers
Mary L. Salyers, 49, Craigville, died at home Tuesday. Among survivors are her husband, Jerry; a son; a daughter, Shannon Berkey, Craigville; two brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, with burial in Prairie View cemetery, Tocsin. Visiting hours are 4-8 p.m. today.

William S. Melick
William S. Melick, 64, rural Keystone, parts manager at Moser Motors in Berne for 30 years, died Tuesday in Caylor-Nickel Medical Center, Bluffton.
Among survivors are his wife, Christine; two daughters; a son; and a brother, Robert Melick, Bryant.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Thoma-Rich-Hewitt-Chaney Funeral Home, Bluffton, with burial in Elm Grove cemetery, Bluffton, Visiting hours are until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday.

Dorothy Zeigler
Dorothy Zeigler, 94, Berne, died Tuesday in Chalet Village. She was a native of Portland and a homemaker.
Surviving are a nephew, Dick Zeigler of Portland, and three nieces, Joan Segraves, Union City; Mable Thomas, Fort Wayne; and Mary H. Lichty, Portland. Her husband, O.A. "Cy" Zeigler, died in 1973.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Green Park cemetery Chapel, Portland. Visitation is 9:30-10 a.m. Thursday in the cemetery chapel. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.

Clarence C. Steffen
Clarence C. Steffen, 85, Bluffton, a native of Adams County, died Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Among survivors are his wife, Frieda; three sons, including Marvin Steffen, Geneva; three daughters; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Apostolic Christian Church, Vera Cruz, with burial in the church cemetery. Visiting hours are 6-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton.

Mary B. Shetler
Mary B. Shetler, 5, rural Geneva, died suddenly at 3:44 a.m. today in Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio.
She was born on August 20, 1991 in Adams County to Paul M. and Leah B. Coblentz Shetler, rural Geneva. The family belongs to the Old Order Amish.
Other survivors include a sister, Elizabeth B. Shetler, at home; three brothers, Ben B., Levi B., and Paul B. Shetler, all at home; paternal grandparents Levi J. and Mary S. Shetler, LaGrange; maternal grandparents Ben A. and Elizabeth Coblentz, rural Geneva; and a great-grandmother, Ida Hilty, Fredericksburg, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the family's home, 4041 East County Rd. 900 South, followed by burial in Bunker Hill cemetery, rural Geneva.
Visiting hours are from 1:30-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in the family's home.
Funeral arrangements are by Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne.

Lucy E. Nelson
Lucy E. Nelson, 57, Fort Wayne, died Tuesday at home.
Among survivors are her husband, James D. Nelson; three stepsons; a stepdaughter; her mother, E. Loveta Van Horn, Geneva; two sisters, including Carol Cummings, Geneva; and a brother.
Mrs. Nelson retired in 1995 after 34 years of elementary teaching with Fort Wayne Community Schools.
Her husband, Jim, is a native of Decatur who formerly taught in the North Adams Schools. One of the stepsons, Camaron, is a physician practicing in Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Visiting hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Ruth A. Workinger
Ruth A. Workinger, 85, 922 Nuttman Ave., died at 2 a.m. Wednesday at home.
She was born on December 20, 1911 in Bucyrus, Ohio to William and Mae Kelley Thornton and married
Robert S. Workinger on December 25, 1932. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the church's Faithful Workers Sunday School class, Decatur Senior Citizens, Decatur Camera Club, and the Trot-A-Bout Club.
Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Roger L. (Shirley) Habegger, Portland, Michigan, and Margery Bentz, Decatur; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Betty Lou Workinger; a brother, William Thornton; and a sister, Bernice Johnson, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Union Chapel United Methodist Church, with burial in Decatur cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church or to the scholarship fund of the Decatur Optimist Club.

Sherman L. Stucky
Sherman L. Stucky, 85, Berne, a longtime civic leader in that city, died at 4:31 p.m. Thursday in Adams County Memorial Hospital of an aortic aneurysm. He had been ill the past four months.
He was born on April 23, 1912 in Berne to Walter and Ada Lehman Stucky. He married
Rebecca Reusser on May 29, 1929; she survives.
He retired in 1969 after 38 years as a postal clerk and rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a charter member of the Berne Lions Club in 1953 and a former president of that group. He also helped organize the Berne Little League in the 1950s and was the organizer of the Berne Bear Club, of which he was president for 15 years.
In the late 1920s, Mr. Stucky was a member of the Dunbar Band and was well known for playing a long Alpine horn on stage while wearing traditional Swiss clothes during Berne's annual Swiss Days celebrations. He also played the Alpine horn at state events.
He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Berne and was a former president of its Mennonite Choral Society.
Mr. Stucky and his wife also hosted many Swiss ancestral tours for 19 years. He was also a Boy Scout district commissioner and leader in the Berne area for many years.
Other survivors are two sons, Steven P. Stucky, Lafayette, and Sydney R. Stucky, Fountaintown, Indiana; a brother, Horace D. Stucky, Decatur; two sisters, Naomi Liechty, Berne, and Edith Musser, Bluffton; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-graat-grandchild.
A son, Dr. Jerry Stucky, is deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in First Mennonite Church, with burial in MRE cemetery, Berne. Visiting hours are 2-8:30 p.m. Saturday in Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, and 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the organ fund at First Mennonite Church.

Cynthia A. Lauer, 31, Fort Wayne, died at home on June 26. Among survivors are her parents; a sister, Jennifer Lauer, Monroe; two brothers; and both grandmothers.
A funeral mass was held today, with burial in Catholic cemetery, Fort Wayne.
