Billie Joe Forsythe
Billie Joe "Shorty" Forsythe, 78, Tipton, died Saturday, November 3, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Bogard, Missouri on June 18, 1929 to William Hugh and Catherine Frances (Bingham) Forsythe. He had lived in Missouri until 1955, moving to Kokomo until 1966 and then to Tipton. He married Betty Lou (Swisher) on June 3, 1956, and she survives.
Bill had worked at Continental Steel in Kokomo for 31 years as a crane man, retiring in 1986. He then worked for Reeder & Klein in Carmel and then for the Tipton County Highway Department for 14 years as a grader operator, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Center Masonic Lodge # 389, Eastern Star, and the United Steel Workers of America, serving on the Pension Rights Committee.
Bill served in the Army during the
Korean War in the Tank Division for the 3rd & 4th Armored Division as a Sgt. of the Motor Pool.
He is survived by three children: Linda Marie Hinkle and husband Lloyd R., Huntertown, Indiana, Diana Elaine Parr and husband Daniel J. Chalfie, Indianapolis, and William M. Forsythe and wife Kimberly J., Tipton. He has one sister, Evelyn Perry and husband Joe Ray, Marshall, Missouri and one brother, Clyde Forsythe and his wife, the late Martha Forsythe, Sharpsville; four grandchildren, Amanda M. Hinkle-Gumbel, Nicole M. Parr, Katie M. Cole and Lindy E. Forsythe; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine M. Timmons and Makayla M. Hinkle Gumbel.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Carr presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Charles L. Forsythe
Charles L. Forsythe, 71 of Noblesville died at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville. Charles was born on November 10, 1934 in Tyler, Missouri to Fredrick and Luna Mae (Wilson) Forsythe.
Charles had been employed as the manager and was a member of the VFW in Bull Shoals, Arkansas, and served on the Bull Shoals City Council in the mid 90’s. He was one of the founders of the Palm Sunday Memorial in Elkhart, IN.
Survivors include 2 sons; Michael L. Forsythe, Richfield, CT; and Gary Forsythe, Ft. Worth, Texas; 1 daughter; Debbie Watters, Noblesville, IN.; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jessie Forsythe, Pueblo, CO.; Fred Forsythe, Beaumont, Texas; and Hubert Hayes. Charles was preceded in death by one son, Stephen G. Forsythe and 1 sister.
No visitation is scheduled. A memorial service in Arkansas is planned at a later date.

Loeta Frawley
Loeta Frawley, 92, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Century Villa in Greentown. Loeta was born on November 27, 1915 in Matoon, Illinois to Leslie and Ruth (Love) King. She married Charles Frawley on December 24, 1934; he preceded her in death on January 30, 1982.
Loeta had worked for National Electronics, in LaFox, Illinois.
She has five children: Rose Rita Nunn of Bartlesville, OK; Jerry Frawley and wife Jeannine of Showlow, AZ; Don Frawley and wife Phyllis of Tipton; Jean Henson and husband Dave of Batavia, IL; and Lanny Frawley and wife Maureen of St. Charles, IL. Loeta has seven siblings: Ellen Singleton, Ione Lyons, Darlene Fitch, Ray King, Roy King and Frank King, all of Greentown and Geraldine Woods of Kokomo; 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Don King and one sister, Florence Singleton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton with the Rev. Jerry Frawley presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery
in Tipton. Visitation will be Sunday, December 9, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leah L. Garman
Leah L. Garman, 99, Tipton, died at 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2006 at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton. She was born October 11, 1906, in Tipton County to Jack & Minnie (Hobbs) Click. On January 9, 1926, she married Charles W. Garman and he died September 10, 1996.
She was the retired owner of Marilyn's Beauty Salon and a member of Hobbs United Methodist Church. Leah belonged to the Order of Eastern Star Rosary Chapter 66, Tipton County Concert Society and was a Charter Member of D.A.R. She was also a Charter Member of Homecraft Home Ec. Club and was a 1925 graduate of Tipton High School.
Leah is survived by two sons, Charles W. "Bill" Garman, Jr., Tipton and Jack Garman, Elwood; one daughter, Marilyn Patterson, Estero, Florida; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. James Cline presiding. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Doris Ann Gish
Former Tipton County resident Doris Ann Gish, 79, 5425 Kerns Lane, Indianapolis, died at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, January 1, 2006, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born January 8, 1926, in Prairie Township of Tipton County to Herbert C. & Neva Pearl (Dawson) Watson. On September 4, 1949, she married Gordon B. Gish and he survives.
Doris Ann worked in the office of Tudor-Yeager in Tipton, was a former art teacher in Speedway Schools, and former secretary to the Assistant Principal at North Central High School. She was a member of the Normanda Christian Church, Delta Zeta Sorority at Indiana University and was a former secretary of the Tipton County Republican Central Committee.
She is survived by her husband Gordon; two sons and one daughter, Kurt Gish, Indianapolis, Debra McKinney, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Galen Gish, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; one brother, Joe Watson, Tipton; and two grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Brown presiding. Burial will be in Normanda Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marjorie E. Gossard
Marjorie E. Gossard, 82 of Frankfort died Friday, July 27, 2007 at 3:40 a.m. at Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo. She was born in Johnson County, Indiana on January 26, 1925. Her parents were Samuel and Ethel (Dailey) Johnson. She married Maurice Gossard on December 24, 1942, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2000.
Marjorie was retired from Clinton Central High School where she had been secretary. She was a member of the Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church and belonged to the Retired Secretary Association.
She is survived by one son; Samuel and wife Wendy Gossard of Westfield and one daughter; Carol and husband Mike Ward of Sharpsville. Marjorie has 7 grandchildren; Melissa Litka, Brian Ward, David Ward, Marcus Gossard, Heather Gossard, Heidi King and Jeff May; 7 great-grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth Johnson of Gulfport, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 31, at the Kempton Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Richard Covert presiding. Burial will be at the Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton and also Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.

Jeffrey N. Grimme
Jeffrey Neil Grimme, 50, Sharpsville, died at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at his home. He was born August 17, 1957 in Tipton, the son of Meredith L. and Joyce A. (Smith) Grimme. Jeff attended school at Bona Vista and was later employed as a production worker by Bona Vista until he became ill earlier this year. He attended Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father, Meredith, and step-mother, Lois S. Grimme; two sisters, Carol J. Railey and her husband, William, of Russiaville, IN, Susan G. Phillips and her husband, Terry, of Shelbyville, IN; two step-brothers, Jeffrey T. Simms, Ricky D. Simms and his wife, Michele, of Kokomo, IN and one step-sister, Lisa D. Wylie and her husband, Michael, of Indianapolis, IN; seven nephews, David Railey and his wife, Hannah, William Railey, Christopher Simms, Darrin Simms, Jacob Simms, Clayton Wylie and Kory Green; seven nieces, Lauren Heller and her husband, Derek, Caitlin Phillips, Meghan Wylie, Amanda Wylie, Brooke Simms, Ellie Simms and Emma Simms; three great-nephews, Brogan and Simon Heller and Finnegan Railey. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce A. Grimme, and his grandparents, Robert and Wilma Grimme and Reno and Ollie Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson Street, Tipton, with Revs. Bob and Ruth Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 30.

Geraldine Gunkel
Geraldine Gunkel, 90, Tipton, died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton. She was born in Clinton County January 17, 1916, to Bernard & Grace Pickard. On March 5, 1938 she married Loren Gunkel and he died August 15, 1993.
She was a homemaker and a member of the West Street Christian Church.
Geraldine is survived by one son, David "Skip" Gunkel and his wife Diane, Tipton; one daughter, Diane Lombardi and her husband, Charles, Milford, Connecticut; two grandchildren, Scott Gunkel, Tipton, and Jennifer Colen and her husband Steve, Tipton; two sisters, Wilma Adair, Frankfort, and Mary Rector, Sheridan. One son, Ronald Gunkel, one brother, Floyd Pickard, and one sister, Cleo Hatton, are deceased.
Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Burns-Watson presiding and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Margaret A. Gunkel
Margaret A. Hinkle-Gunkel, 75 of Atlanta died Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 8:55 am at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton. She was born in Tipton County on October 25, 1930 to Leroy and Lottie (Barr) Meyer. Margaret married Harry Hinkle, he preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Donald L. Gunkel on May 7, 1988, and he survives.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the Tipton Tribune. She was a member of East Union Christian Church and was a co-founder of the Tipton County Pork Festival.
Margaret is survived by her husband Donald, a daughter, Julie Hinkle Higgs of Utica, Kentucky and a son, Mark A. Hinkle of Newburg, Indiana, and 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 sister.
A private graveside service will take place at Union Cemetery
with Rev. Rex Dunning presiding. Burial will follow.

Julie A. Hancock
Julie A. Hancock, 26, Kokomo, died at 5:14 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2006 at her residence. She was born June 7, 1980 in Kokomo to Mark A & Cindy S. (Shubert) Hancock and had previously lived in Tipton for 12 years and had attended Tipton High School.
She is survived by her mother, Cindy Hancock, Tipton; her father and step-mother, Mark and Peggy Hancock, Kokomo; two sisters, Eve McCool and Carrie McCool, both of Tipton; a step-brother, Bennett Hancock, Jacksonville, Florida; her fiancé Sam Young, Kokomo and his parents Sherry & Ron Young; grandparents Daniel Shubert, Tipton, Jim & Joan Hancock, Kokomo; aunts and uncles Sandy Warner and husband Jim Lee, Lebanon, Clark & Melva Shubert, Texas, Bruce Shubert, Lafayette, Dick & Louann West, Sharpsville, Cindy & Walt Jones, Oklahoma, Debbie Spears, Kokomo, and Phil Hancock, Speedway; other family Vina Sizmore, Zula Cowan and Jerry Malston, all of Windfall; good friend Mike McCool, Tipton.
Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Verl Winslow. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
Francis Harlow
Francis Harlow, 87, Tipton died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at Samara Memory Care in Kokomo. He was born on February, 16, 1920 in Prairie Township to Clyde and Ethel (Romack) Harlow. He married Lucy Blodgett in July 1954 and she preceded him in death September 9, 1995.
Francis was a life long farmer and member of the Liberty Baptist Church and the Tipton Elks. He is survived by one son, Brent Harlow of Indianapolis. One brother, George Harlow is deceased.
His services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 19, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton with Rev. Bob Lawson. Burial will follow in Normanda Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Vernon Harrell
Vernon Harrell, 98, Tipton, died at 8:35 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2006, at AmeriCare Living Center, Westfield. He was born January 26, 1908, in Howard County to Frank & Rosa Harrell. He was married to Imogene Lake until her death in 1980. In 1984 he married Ruth Carter and she survives.
Vernon worked as a transport driver for Shell Oil Company, retiring in 1970. He was a member of Normanda Christian Church, 50-year member of Austin Masonic Lodge in Tipton and the Scottish Rite. He belonged to the AAONM Shrine and the Shrine Transportation Club in Kokomo.
Survivors include his wife Ruth; one son, Larry Harrell, Indianapolis; one step-daughter, Barbara Scherich and her husband Lloyd, Tipton; seven grandchildren, David Harrell and wife Mary Ann, Daniel Harrell and wife Lisa, Terry Johnson, Jennie Schreve and husband Eric, Joyce Ross and husband Jeremy, Judy Waddell and husband Charles, and Tamara Harrell; one step-grandson, Brad Scherich and wife Julie; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Edith Winslow, Mildred Kinder, Olive Webb and Jeanette Hankins, and one brother, Kenneth Harrell.
His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 7 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Brown presiding. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Garden in Kokomo. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m.

Tieru "Ty" Henderson
In loving memory of Tieru "Ty" Henderson, 54 of Tipton. He died at 5:15 a.m. Friday June 15, 2007 at Tipton Hospital. Ty was born in Tipton on October 17, 1952 to Vasil and Marjorie (Smith) Rogers Henderson. He married Geraldine Perrin who survives.
Ty was employed by the City of Tipton working for the Water and Utility Departments and was affiliated with the Moose Lodge in Tipton
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; two children, Amber and Travis Henderson of Tipton; his mother Marjorie Rogers of Tipton; a brother Fetchie and wife Shirley Henderson of Kissimee, Florida and a sister, Vickie Phillips of Aldolphus, Kentucky. Ty has two grandchildren, Eathan and Jordan Henderson, five nieces and 10 nephews.
His funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday .
