Frank Gee, 66, of Leo-Cedarville, a native of Romania, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.
"He was an avid sports fan."
He was an automobile dealer and involved with Fort Wayne Sports Club. Surviving are his wife, Trude; sons Charles of Auburn and George Gawreluk of Grabill; daughters Margaret Cartwright of Kalamazoo, Mich., Maria King of Westerville, Ohio, and Christina Gee and Frances Wagner, both of Fort Wayne; and 11 grandchildren. Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery.

Fort Wayne — 1934-2001
Nancy J. Wakeland, 66, of Fort Wayne, co-owner with her husband of Cherished Again Consignment Store, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.
The Fort Wayne native was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid and Prayer Chain, Butterfly Bible Group and president of Home Ec Club. Surviving are her husband, Max D.; daughters Karen S. Schempf of Watertown, Wis., Maryanne McClure of Bedford, Texas, and Susan K. Kanning of Fort Wayne; a son, Rev. Michael S. of Guadalajara, Mexico; a sister, Helen M. Armstrong of Fort Wayne; and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr St., with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Burial will be at Concordia cemetery Gardens. Alberta J. Koehl, 84, of Fort Wayne, owner/operator of Buchanan Grocery Store & Market, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn.
The Waterloo native retired in 1963 after 15 years of service and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Surviving are sons Terry J. of Rome City and Michael S. of New Haven; sisters Eldora Lower and Dorothy Shortridge, both of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Arthur C., preceded her in death. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a 4:30 p.m. rosary service. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery. Memorials are to Masses or the church.

The Fort Wayne native was retired from Peter Eckrich & Sons. Surviving are sons Dennis R. Harkenrider and Kedric Herstad, both of Fort Wayne, and James Herstad of McClish Lake; a daughter, Judith A. Nichter of New Haven; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Charles C. Wade, 53, of Fort Wayne, a member of Star of Bethel Baptist Church, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at home.
The Humbolt, Tenn., native had formerly worked for National Magnesium Foundry Co. and came to Fort Wayne in 1977. Surviving are his wife, Gwendolyn; a daughter, Carlyn Wade of Jackson, Tenn.; stepdaughters Angela Henderson and Santil Ellis, both of Fort Wayne; sons Micah, Charles Jr. and Allen, all of Fort Wayne; sisters Georgia Brown of Chicago, Mary Ann Wade of New York, Tina Thomas of Dallas, Carlyn Thomas, Annette Thomas-Rowland and Betty Bolden, all of Fort Wayne; a brother, Larry Thomas of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren. Bobby Vern Deakins, 74, of Fort Wayne, a former police officer with the Richmond Police Department, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.
The Staunton native was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah A. Hawkins of Fort Wayne; a son, Barry R. of Richmond; a brother, William of Brazil; a sister, Zora L. Hood of Brazil; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
There are no services or calling. Burial will be at Indiana Veterans Memorial cemetery, Madison.

Byron C. Drew, 86, of Fort Wayne, a retired superintendent, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.
The Fort Wayne native retired in 1980 from the city of Fort Wayne Water Department. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Scottish Rite and Summit City Blue Lodge.
Surviving are sons Stephen of Fort Wayne, Byron C. Jr. of White Pigeon, Mich., and Curtis D. of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a daughter, Karen R. Drew of Angola.
His wife, Alice C., preceded him in death.
Private services will be held. Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Burial will be at Lindenwood cemetery.

Dorothy E. Ford, 91, of Fort Wayne, a former Sunday school teacher, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Golden Years Homestead.
The Larned, Kan., native was a homemaker, a member of Lake Chapel United Methodist Church in Lake Everett and a former church youth counselor. She was the author of "Life Goes On - A Widow's Story."
Surviving are daughters Margie F. Holderman of Fort Wayne and Monna L. Winchester of Sun City, Fla.; sons Rev. Thaine E. of Pensacola, Fla., and Gerald D. of Pretty Lake; a sister, Gladys Lopez of Fresno, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse E., a sister and three brothers.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with calling from noon until services. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.

Christine Magdalene Pieters, 88, of Fort Wayne died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Golden Years Homestead.
The Shiloh, N.J., native retired in 1977 from nursing after 37 years of service. She was a member of Pi Alpha Pi sorority and Alfred Alumni Association for more than 50 years.
Surviving are sisters Henrietta A. Wells of Naples, Fla., and Anna E. Fuller of Venice, Fla.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Johanna C. Pieters, Alberta J. Peters and L. Jeannette Floeck.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn cemetery, Buffalo, N.Y. There is no calling.
