Bernice Stephens, 59, of Fort Wayne, a volunteer for American Cancer Society, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at home.
"She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother."
The Marion, Ala., native was a homemaker and had worked for Magnavox for 10 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Isaac; sons Karlisle of Warsaw and Rodney of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Wanda Owens of Fort Wayne; stepdaughters Elizabeth Witherspoon of Uniontown, Ala., and Tamara Pope of Fort Wayne; brothers Charles Underwood of Detroit and George Underwood of Cincinnati; sisters Gertrude Johnson, Leona Williams, Louise Smith and Betty Tolbert, all of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, 1101 McKinnie Ave., with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Burial will be at Lindenwood cemetery.

Lila B. Trout, 79, of Fort Wayne, a retired secretary, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at home.
"Loving grandmother to Nicholas Trout."
The Fort Wayne native retired in 1956, had worked for Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. and International Harvester Co. for 16 years.
Surviving are sons Michael G. of San Francisco and Eric S. of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Marcia K. Kohn of Fort Wayne; sisters Helen Hoffman of Pierceton and Laura Grimm of Erlanger, Ky.; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, three brothers and three sisters.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

John L. Davis Sr., 54, of Fort Wayne, a commodities manager, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at home.
"He was our best friend, father and he was an avid golfer."
The Canton, Ohio, native had worked with Dana Corp. for 35 years. Surviving are sons John Jr. of Canton, Ohio, and Tyler Mumma of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Michele Wiltrout of Jeromesville, Ohio; his mother, Wilma Davis of East Canton, Ohio; brothers Frederick of Canton, Ohio, and Raymond of Hardy, Ark.; sisters Roberta Moulin of East Canton, Ohio, Barbara Alaback of Louisville, Ohio, and Annette Miller of St. Louis, Mo.; his companion, Dawn Mumma of Fort Wayne; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister. Services are 7 p.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with calling one hour before services. Debra Sue Dorcey, 48, of Fort Wayne, a member of the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at home.
"Everybody that knew her loved her. She will be missed by her family and four dogs."
The Fort Wayne native retired in 1999 from Anthony Wayne Services as a site manager after 23 years of service. She was a member of Fairview Church of God in Yoder and Allen County Practical Defense League. Her hobbies were flowers, gardening and travel. Surviving are her husband, Steven J.; a daughter, Dawn M. Allen-Elliott of Fort Wayne; her mother, Rosella Harter of Fort Wayne; her stepmother, Leona Farrell of Quincy, Mich.; and a sister, Becky Aiken of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Farrell, her stepfather, Walter Harter, and a sister. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, with calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Ruth M. Furniss, 78, of New Haven, a retired private secretary, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Parkview Hospital.
The Fort Wayne native retired from General Electric Co. after 13 years of service, had worked for North American Van Lines for five years, and was active in Senior Citizens Group and Euchre Group. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Alter Sodality. Surviving are sons Michael and Ronald, both of Fort Wayne, Patrick of New Haven and Thomas of Hamilton; a brother, Donald Kiep of Fort Wayne; sisters Marianne Sorg and Eleen Fogel, both of Fort Wayne; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C., and a daughter, Rose Marie. Prayer services at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930 E., New Haven, precede Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven. George L. Geller, 87, of Fort Wayne, a member of the Mizpah Shrine, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Englewood Nursing Home.
"He enjoyed bowling, gardening, walking and fishing, and was a Cubs fan."
The Huntington native retired in 1978, had worked for Vim Sporting Goods for 10 years and for Main Auto Sports Shop. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge, and was a former Boy Scout leader in California. Surviving are his wife, Lois; sons Douglas D. and Phillip L., both of New Haven; a brother, Robert L. of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Robert T. Henry, 89, of Fort Wayne, a former Allen County deputy sheriff, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at The Arbors at Fort Wayne.
The Allen County native was a retired Adams Township assessor, a former owner of Henry's Appliances in Waynedale and had raised and shown beagles. Surviving are a son, Robert T.E. of Fort Wayne; a sister, Marie Ballman of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, a daughter, Marcellyn Conn, a sister and a brother. The Lafayette native retired in 1984, was a member of Laud Christian Church and formerly of Tampa, Fla., and Whitley County. "He believed that camping is a way to reach children and help them grow to be the best they can be."
The Muncie native was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow and recipient of the God & Service Award by Girl Scouts of America and Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Louise; daughters Virginia Vogel of Bluffton and Cathy German and Mary Tyndall, both of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren. The Hoagland native retired in 1982 from Navistar after 40 years of service and was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. Surviving are sons David L. of Huntington and Matthew A. of Fort Wayne; daughters Ruth A. Oxley and Elizabeth J. Dominey, both of Fort Wayne; a brother, Clinton of Hoagland; sisters Julia Schultz of Fort Wayne and Doris Rathert of Ohio City, Ohio; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred R., a daughter, Sara S., and two sisters. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 2320 Broadway. "He enjoyed meeting the breakfast club at Atz's, feeding the squirrels and birds, and watching sports."
The Dixon, Ohio, native retired in 1979 from Fruehauf Trailer Co. after 37 years of service. Surviving are daughters Carole Waltmire of Decatur, Katherine Essex of North Canton, Ohio, and Barbara Murchland of Fort Wayne; a son, John of Fort Wayne; sisters Edith Siders of Florida, Glenna Murchland of Fort Wayne and Jean Renier of Monroeville; brothers Eugene of Ossian and William of Parowan, Utah; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M., a son, Paul, three sisters and a brother. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at D.O.
