Surviving are sons, Jeffrey of Fort Wayne and Stephen of Seminole, Fla.; a stepsister, Pamala Groves of Fort Wayne; and five grandchildren. "He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spoiling his grandchildren." The Kalida, Ohio, native retired in 1994 from Navistar/International Harvester Co. after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church, its Catholic cemetery Committee and UAW Local 57. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; sons Anthony and Richard, both of Fort Wayne, and Maj. Steven of Budingen, Germany; brothers Thomas of Napoleon, Ohio, and John of Pace, Fla.; sisters Marianna Schumaker and Joanna Kettinger, both of Monroe, Mich., and Carol J. The Russellville, Ky., native retired in 1998 from Zumbrun Construction as a construction worker and was a member of Spiritual Israel Church for 16 years. Surviving are sons William A., James, Jeffery P., Steven E. and Terry L., all of Terre Haute, Robert of Paducah, Ky., Charles J. Williams of Atlanta, Domoinique D. Wesley of Fort Wayne and Terry Wesley of Bloomington; daughters Florance E. Cornes, Rose M. Kizer and Jennifer Grady, all of Fort Wayne, Debra J. Grady of Memphis, Tenn., and Katherine and Jacquline L. Grady, both of Terre Haute; brothers James W. of Danville, Ill., and James E. Surviving are her husband, Marshall H.; a sister, Shirley Casbon of Plymouth; and brothers Elvin Jr. and Robert Rust, both of Wheatfield, and James Cavinder of Fort Myers, Fla. Gary Paul "Tinker" Bell, 48, of Fort Wayne, whose hobbies were fishing and NASCAR model collecting, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.
"He greeted everyone with ‘Howdy.' "
The Fort Wayne native had worked at Dana Corp. in manufacturing for many years.
Surviving are daughters Danelle Figgs and Holly Bell, both of Fort Wayne; his father, Robert P. of Fort Wayne; sisters Connie Warsler of Parkland, Fla., and Joann Kirkpatrick of Fremont; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie, a sister, Juanita Shaw, and a brother, Wayne.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
