Mary P. Stone, 64
Sister of Frank Ifer of Bluffton, Mary P. Stone, 64, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday.The wife of Orvall W. Stone of Fort Wayne, she was a nurse at Parkview Hospital for 31 years, retiring in 1991.
She was born in Barnsdall, Okla., Dec. 6, 1936 and was a member of the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate.
In addition to her husband and the brother in Bluffton, she is survived by two sons, Michael W. and Jeffrey M., both of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne and burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and for one hour Saturday prior to services. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Herbert C. Grile, 92
A former regional marketing manager for National Oil & Gas Inc. of Bluffton, Herbert C. Grile, 92, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday at St. Anne Home in Fort Wayne.
Following his career tenure at National Oil, he was an accountant for Dr. Lowell Becker from 1974 to 1990.
He was a member of the First Missionary Church and was active in Sunday school class visitation and lay pastoral care.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise; a son, John H. of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Annette R. Becker of Fort Wayne; a brother, Howard of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Hazel Glentzer and Margaret Shufelt, both of Portland; two stepsons, James Jones of Chicago and John Jones of Fort Wayne; a stepdaughter, Judy Jones of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. His first wife, Edith A., died in 1990.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will be at First Missionary Church, 701 West Rudisill Blvd., Fort Wayne, and burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery in Bluffton.
Calling hours at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne, will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Saturday for one-half hour prior to services.

Joseph H. Waggoner, 77
Joseph H. Waggoner, 77, of Albion, a former resident of the Markle and Zanesville areas, died Tuesday at Albion.
He was a former worker at Kresge Warehouse in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Uniontown Church of Christ in rural Wells County.
Mr. Waggoner was born in Grant County May 10, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Waggoner. His marriage in Wells County on Oct. 3, 1952 was to Betty Caley, who died Sept. 17, 1989.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol J. Lewis of Bluffton; a son, Ken Waggoner of Ossian; a sister, Janet Johnson of Marion; and one grandson. Three brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Uniontown Church of Christ with Rev. Dal Fosnaugh officiating. Burial will be in Uniontown cemetery.
Visitation hours at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in Ossian will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials to the Uniontown Church of Christ or to the Albion First Presbyterian Church.

Ethel Mae Wolf, 76
Ethel Mae Wolf, 76, of Bluffton, died at 12:35 a.m. today at Meadowvale Care Center. Death was due to a stroke and followed an illness of 18 months.
She was employed in the 1960s at Nowak’s Progress Store and in the 1970s at Bummie’s B&K Root Beer Stand.
She was born in Wells County July 30, 1924 to Orlo and Hattie Wasson Harshman. Her marriage at Bluffton on Dec. 24, 1943 was to James E. Wolf, who died Sept. 6, 1999. She was a 1943 graduate of Rockcreek High School.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Cynthia Jo) Wiedelman of Bluffton; a son, James “Andy” Wolf of rural Craigville; four brothers, John Harshman of Anderson, Paul Harshman of Bluffton, Norman Harshman of Washington, Mich., and Ronald “Dick” Harshman of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Everett (Ellen) Tarr of Dunkirk and Nondis Lash of Bluffton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother and two sisters are deceased.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will be at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, where calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday after 9 a.m.
Rev. Mark Dauterman will officiate and burial will be in Six Mile cemetery. Memorials to the First Church of Christ.

Joseph T. Glendining, 99
Funeral services for Joseph T. Glendining, 99, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Downing Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mr. Glendining died at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday at his home in rural Geneva, Adams County.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
A retired farmer, Mr. Glendining was a 50-year member and past master of Geneva Masonic Lodge 621 and member of the Scottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine in Fort Wayne and York Rite bodies in Portland and Bluffton.
He was born in Adams County March 1, 1902 to Joseph and Elizabeth E. Thornburg Glendining. His marriage on Dec. 31, 1939 at Portland was to Kathryn Free, who died Oct. 9, 1987.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Two sisters are deceased.
Rev. Keith Schreffler will officiate at services and burial will be in West Lawn cemetery at Geneva. Memorials to the donor’s choice.

John F. Behrends, 78
John F. Behrends, 78, of rural Huntington, died at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was employed, prior to retirement in 1987, at E-Systems Memcor in Huntington.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntington, member and past commander of VFW Post 2689, past commander of the Indiana VFW, member of Huntington American Legion Post 7, and the Roanoke American Legion Post 160 and was a volunteer at the VA Hospital in Marion.
Mr. Behrends, a 1942 graduate of Laketon High School in Laketon, also was a member of the Huntington Exchange Club and the 40 & 8 organization.
He was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, July 13, 1922 to Herman and Martha Pitt Behrends. His marriage in Huntington County on Aug. 30, 1942 was to Mary F. Gressley, who died March 22, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bob (Lynnda) Barnes of Huntington and Mrs. Mark (Londa) Price of Alexandra, La.; a brother, Walter of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A son, Sonny, and two grandsons are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntington with Father Gary Sigler officiating. Interment will be in Clear Creek cemetery in Huntington County with full military graveside rites.
Visitation times will be Friday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel and Saturday at the church for one hour prior to services.
Memorials to the Salvation Army or to church masses.

Dean L. Hartle, 82
Funeral services for Dean L. Hartle, 82, of Warren, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Memorial Home at Warren, where he died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday.
Calling hours at the memorial home will be Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m.
He owned and operated Hartle Plumbing Co. in Huntington from 1957 to 1969 and was maintenance supervisor from 1969 to 1989 at the Epworth Forest Retreat and Conference Center at North Webster.
He served during World War II from 1942 to 1946 with the U.S. Army’s 328th Infantry unit, participating in battles in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Hartle was a member of VFW Post 2689 at Huntington, Amity Masonic Lodge 483 at Huntington, Scottish Rite Valley in Fort Wayne and was a past president of the Huntington South Side Business Men’s Association and a past president of Lakeland Kiwanis Club in North Webster.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Warren and a graduate in 1937 of West Rock Creek High School in Huntington County.
He was born Jan. 20, 1919 to Earl A. and Lavina Mae Brumbaugh Hartle. His marriage at Huntington on Sept. 7, 1952 was to Minnette Will, who survives.
Other survivors are a brother, Gene Hartle of Huntington; a stepbrother, Max Murrow of Fort Wayne; a stepsister, Mrs. David (Edith) Canaan of Fort Wayne; two foster children, Alleyne Metzger of Bippus and Rev. Evelyn Teddy of Huntington; and six foster grandchildren.
Pastor Herbert Edwards and Revs. John Pattison, Mike Beall and Galen Lowery will participate at the services and burial will be in Star of Hope cemetery in Huntington County.

Glen E. Carnes, 81
Glen E. Carnes, 81, of rural Poneto, died at 7:52 a.m. Thursday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He retired in 1980 after 40 years with General Motors of Indianapolis.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union in Indianapolis, the Northfield Community Church at Northfield, and the American Legion Post at Van Buren. Mr. Carnes was a veteran of U.S. Army service during World War II, serving from Dec. 11, 1942 to Oct. 16, 1943.
He helped establish the Northfield Community Church and was a former member of the Chester Center Church in Wells County.
Mr. Carnes donated the land where the Chester Township, Wells County, Fire Department and the EMS buildings are located.
After his retirement from GM, Mr. Carnes engaged in farming in Chester Township from 1982 to 1992. He was a 1938 graduate of Chester Center High School and was a former resident also of Indianapolis and Lebanon.
He was born in Wells County April 2, 1920 to Elmer Lee and Fay Ethel Penrod Carnes, who are deceased. His first wife, the former Margaret A. Ham, is deceased. His second marriage at Indianapolis on Dec. 28, 1971 was to Shirley J. Dodson, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, James A. of Shelby Township, Mich.; three daughters, Kimmy A. Carnes of Grand Rapids, Mich., Joni Lea Carnes of Plainwell, Mich., and Jeri Jo Shelton of Thorntown; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Glancy Funeral Homes Walker Chapel with Rev. Dewey Zent officiating. Burial will be in Miller cemetery in Chester Township.
Calling hours at the funeral chapel will be Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m.

Sharon L. Wall, 69
Sharon L. Wall, 69, of Hartford City, died at 7:50 a.m. Thursday at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Mrs. Wall retired in 1991 from Sheller Globe Corp. in Montpelier after many years of employment. She had been a lifetime resident of the Montpelier and Hartford City areas. She was born in Hartford City July 25, 1931 and was married
at Coldwater, Mich., on May 21, 1954 to Chester “Chet” L. Wall, who died March 28, 1990. Her parents, Kenneth Richard Ort and Treva Weaver Ort Neff, are deceased also.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier.
Surviving are a son, Gregory J. Wall of Hartford City; two brothers, Wallis N. Ort of Hartford City and Richard V. Ort of Nashville, Tenn.; and two grandsons.
Services at 2 p.m. Sunday will be at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, in Montpelier, where calling hours will be Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.
