Alice Cray, 98
Alice P. Cray, 98, Warren, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, where she had been a resident since 1981.
Born in Warren County, Ky. on Jan. 16, 1906 to J. Thomas and Brilla Phelps Delp, she lived most of her life in Indianapolis where she was a member of the Wallace St. Presbyterian Church, serving on the executive board of the Women’s Association for ten years and taught Sunday school. She was a graduate of Greene Township High School and Lafayette Business College. She was a staff aide volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn B. Cray, who died on May 2, 1969.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, with calling for one-half hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Spring Hill cemetery in Warren. Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel in Warren is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Gilbert, 84
A Wells County native, Helen Gilbert, 84, of Berne, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13 at the Adams County Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Born on Aug. 15, 1919 to Walter and Lela Johnson Brintzenhofe, she married
Virgil K. Gilbert on April 17, 1954; he died Aug. 11, 1968.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school.
Survivors include two sisters, Ardis Gilbert and Pauline Haggard, both of Monroe.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur, with services scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Preferred memorials to the church or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Luella Steiner, 94
A sister of a former Bluffton resident, Luella Steiner, 94, Berne, died at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 12 at Swiss Village in Berne.
Survivors include a brother, Weldon A. Steiner of Fort Wayne; and a sister, Esther Friar of Willshire, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Melva Steiner and Gene Wagner; and four brothers, Clarence, Carlton, Perl and Emmett Steiner.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Swiss Village Chapel, with calling hours beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the M.R.E.cemetery. Preferred memorial to the Swiss Village Endowment Fund or Mennonite Missions.

William K. “Bill” Liby, 60
William K. “Bill” Liby, 60, of Bluffton, died at 7:26 p.m. Monday, June 14, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Born May 2, 1944 to Lester and Anna I. Lautzenheiser Liby, his marriage to the former Sharon Lewis took place June 14, 1964 in Bluffton.
He was a 1962 graduate of Bluffton High School and attended the Milo Bennett School of Linotype in English, Ind. He worked for more than 20 years as a Linotype operator at the News-Banner.
An employee of Franklin Electric and a maintenance worker for the City of Bluffton, he worked many years with his father in the painting business. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors, in addition to the wife, include two sons, Brian of Boston, Va., and Chris of Bluffton; a brother, Jack, of Bluffton; and five grandchildren.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday will be at Goodwin Memorial Chapel with Ted Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery.
Calling from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday will be at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Cornelia DeLang Syndrome Foundation.

Donna Kay Hiner, 55
Funeral services for Donna Kay Hiner, 55, of Markle, who died Sunday, June 13, in Fort Wayne, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals in Fort Wayne at 6810 Old Trail Road.
She was a senior technical support associate for Raytheon Company and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 1421 in Waynedale.
Born Jan. 3, 1949 in Fort Wayne to Dan and Virginia Hiner, who survive in Markle, she is also survived by a son, Christopher Hiner of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Debbie Hiner of Markle; two brothers, Hillard Daniel Hiner Jr. of Harrisburg, Pa., and Hugh Dennis Hiner of Butler, and two grandchildren.
Calling at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
Preferred memorials are to the grandchildren for their education.

Verl R. Provines, 84
Father of Mrs. Thomas (Lois) Garman of Markle, Verl R. Provines, 84, of Auburn, died at Wesley Health Care in Auburn Sunday, June 13.
A lifetime farmer in Stafford Twp. in DeKalb County, he was the son of Milo and Lucille Gee Provines. He married
the former Letha Weisz in Edgerton, Ohio May 24, 1941. She preceded him in death Sept. 1, 2000.
He was a former member of the DeKalb County Fair Board and the DeKalb County Farm Bureau where he had served on the Board of Directors.
Additional survivors include daughter Mrs. Patrick (Mary) Crow of Spencerville; two brothers, James of Butler and Darwin of St. Joe; a sister, Melva Eakright of Butler; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Devere, killed in WWII, and a sister Lorene Berry.
Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday will be held at Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo with Rev. Tony Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Farmer cemetery, Farmer, Ohio.
Calling will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Newville United Methodist Church or to the Mt. Plesant United Methodist Church.

Tina M. Worthington Foster, 42
A sister of Mrs. Steve (Julia) Prible and Mrs. Jimmy (Tonya) Ragg, both of Bluffton, Tina M. Worthington Foster, 42, of Huntington, died at 6 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2004, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was a life resident of Huntington and attended Fort Wayne Business College. She worked for the former Eagle-Pitcher Company at Huntington for over 10 years.
Born April 11, 1962 in Huntington, she was a daughter of Leroy and Christine Voght Worthington. Her marriage was on July 27, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Lee Foster, who survives.
Also surviving, in addition to the husband and the two Bluffton sisters, are two daughters, Melissa Worthington of Keyes, Calif., and Abby Foster of Huntington; her father, Leroy Worthington of Lakeland, Fla.; her mother, Christine Voght Shenefield of Huntington; two brothers, Scott Worthington and Larry Worthington, both of Huntington; another sister, Mrs.Ronnie (Bonnie) Cole of Huntington; two step-brothers, Jan Shenefield and Billy Shenefield, both of Huntington; two step-sisters, Gail Waters of Huntington and Susie Sonnier of Louisiana, and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Bailey-Love Mortuary at Huntington with Rev. Rob Stamper officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday at the funeral home.Private burial and graveside services will be in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ cemetery, Huntington County, at a later time.

Eva Wilburn, 96
Former rural Bluffton resident Eva Wilburn, 96, died at 10:20 a.m.Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at the United Methodist Home in Warren.
A homemaker, she was member of the Markle United Methodist Church and a 1925 graduate of Markle High School.
Born Aug. 23, 1907, in Wells County, she was a daughter of Elmer and Nona Zimmerlee Burnau. Her marriage was on Nov. 27, 1927, at Markle to Glen I.Wilburn, who survives and resides in Warren.
Also surviving are a son, Larry Wilburn of Bluffton; a daughter, Mrs.Ralph (Marjorie) Mautz of Huntington; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were an infant brother, Gail Burnau, a sister, Faye Anderson, and two grandsons, Roger Mautz and Tim Wilburn.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Kaye Patton officiating. Interment will be at the Markle cemetery.
Preferred memorials to Family Hospice of Indiana in care of the funeral home.

Ruth Neuenschwander, 96
A former resident of Bluffton, Ruth Neuenschwander, 96, died Sunday, June 13, at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne.
Born in Fort Wayne, she was a homemaker and past national president of Women’s Missionary Fellowship for Missionary Church and a member of First Missionary Church. in Fort Wayne. Her late husband, Rev. Jessie Clair Neuenschwander, was pastor of the Hope Missionary Church in Bluffton in the early 1970s.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Augsburger of Fort Wayne, a son, Dr. Robert F. Neuenschwander of Evanston, Ill.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with calling one hour prior at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd. in Fort Wayne. Calling is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Burial will be in Prairie Grove cemetery. Memorials to First Missionary Church.

Jean M. Conner, 55, Markle, died at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, June 17 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Huntington on August 24, 1948 to Donald and Eileen Swoverland, she married
David A. Conner on July 20, 1968 in Huntington; he died Feb. 1, 2004.
Survivors include her mother of Huntington; a daughter, Julie Rennaker of Huntington; a son, Douglas Conner of Markle; three sisters, Janet Ormsby of Markle, JoAnn Hammel of Huntington, and Judy Myers of Tucson, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home in Huntington. Services will be held there Monday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Gerald Moreland officiating. Burial will be in the Markle cemetery.

John H. Rickord, 83
Father of Mrs. Don (Mary Lou) VanCamp of Ossian, and a World War II veteran who retired in 1982 from Central Soya Company after 42 years of service, John H. Rickord, 83, died at 4:15 p.m.Thursday, June 17, 2004, at his Decatur residence.
He was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Mercer County, Ohio, a son of Roy and Daisy Diehl Rickord. His marriage was on Nov. 30, 1943, at Decatur to Eileen M. Smith, who survives.
Mr. Rickord was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church at Decatur, the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, the VFW at Ossian, American Legion Post #43, the Steelworkers Union and Harvest House. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and his Ossian daughter, are four sons, Steven W., John A. and Bernard J., all of Decatur, and Edward J. Rickord of Hawaii; six additional daughters, Mrs.William (Margaret A.) Pogue, Mrs.Richard (Joan M.) Rumpel, Mrs. Charles (Nancy J.) Hamilton and Rose M. Burge, all four of Decatur; Mrs. John (Janet K.) Smith of Preble, and Kathleen S. Scott of Paulding, Ohio; 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel L. Rickord; three brothers, Paul W., Edison R. and Alvin A. Rickord; three sisters, Lucille Painter, Helen Rickord and June Orr; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur. Special services will include rosary at 5:30 p.m. Sunday and military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43. A 9:20 a.m. Monday prayer service at the funeral home will be followed by a 10 a.m. mass of Christian burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father John Strebig officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery at Decatur.
Memorials to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana or Masses.
