Charles Wetherill
Charles F. Wetherill, 78, of Newburgh, died of complications of emphysema Thursday, March 22, 2001, at home.
He retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1982.
He was a World War II veteran, a member of Newburgh Presbyterian Church and a graduate of the University of Toledo.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Marion; three daughters, Paula Hull of Mary Esther, Fla., Diane Ellis of Evansville and Peggy Watson of Chandler, Ind.; a brother, William H. of San Diego; and five grandchildren, Christina Hull, Jennifer and Stephanie Ellis and Matthew and Amy Watson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, continuing at 10:30 a.m. at Newburgh Presbyterian Church, the Revs. Thomas Sale and Joseph Ziliak officiating, with burial in St. John Catholic Church cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Emphysema Research Foundation.
Nila Daugherty
Nila Grace Daugherty, 63, of Cadiz, Ky., mother of Shelia Ashby of Evansville, died of cancer Friday, March 23, 2001, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Ky.
She was a nurse’s aide for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Pentecostal Revival Church.
Also surviving are her husband, William; a son, Raymond Westbrook of Cadiz; a sister, Lois Jones of Evansville; two brothers, Cecil Murphy of Indiana and Charles Murphy of Newtonville, Ind.; three grandchildren, Sean Frazier and Amy and Jennifer Crow; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pentecostal Revival Church in Cadiz, with burial in Trigg Memory Acres there. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz.
Thelma Williams
VINCENNES — Thelma M. Williams, 85, died Friday, March, 23, 2001, at home.
Surviving are seven daughters, Donna Williams, Debbie Barber, Neoma Merydith and Hazel Newberry, all of Vincennes, Cathi Carie of Washington, Patti Welte of Chandler and Audrey Brown of Roanoke, Texas; three sons, Gene of Cayuga, Bill of Newport and Glen of Hardy, Ark.; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Zion cemetery in Monroe City.

Eleanor Pund
TELL CITY — Eleanor Pund, 92, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare.
She was a housekeeper in the Louisville, Ky., area. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. Augustine Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Darby Leister
OATSVILLE — Darby Dean Leister, 81, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at home.
He retired as a meatcutter for Emge Packing Co. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Wheeling United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1147, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are two daughters, Edith Henry of Owensville and Mary Compton of Kansas; a son, Alfred of Owensville; a stepson, Jimmy Patterson of Princeton; two sisters, Josephine Deal and Jeanette Thompson; four brothers, Gene, Earl, Urmal and Paul; grandchildren; and two friends who helped care for him, Sue and Randy Hickman. He was preceded in death by two wives, Vercie and Lois.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Owensville cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1147.

Tom Payne
HUNTINGBURG — Tom Payne, 66, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, of an apparent heart attack at Huntingburg City Park while working around the softball field.
He retired after 15 years at Kimball International and was a self-employed carpenter and construction worker. He was a Korean War Navy veteran and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Thyen, Sandy Buse and Jennifer Underhill, all of Huntingburg; a son, Dale of Huntingburg; eight sisters, Theresa Redmond, Josephine Alexander, Gerri Werner, Agnes Gish, Judy Willet and Mary Ruth McFarland, all of Evansville, Helen Joann Miller of Wadesville and Betty Sue Lockyear of Paradise; two brothers, Ed Payne of Selvin and Brett Heaton of Evansville; and nine grandchildren. A daughter, Kelly Jo Payne, died in 1989.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at St. Mary Church, with burial in St. Mary cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Nass & Son Funeral Home, with parish vigil services at 5 p.m.
Rev. Charles Pillow
BOONVILLE — The Rev. Charles D. Pillow, 78, died of complications of Parkinson’s Disease Friday, March 23, 2001, at Woodmont Health Campus.
He ministered 55 years for Southern Indiana General Baptist churches. He retired after 21 years teaching at Folsomville, Ninevah and Cicero grade schools.
He was a member of Millersburg General Baptist Church, United Association of General Baptists and Gentryville Masonic Lodge 424. He attended Bethabara General Baptist Church in Folsomville.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Margaret; two daughters, Markeita Scales of Boonville and Nancy Polston of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Jason Scales, Daniel and Lisa Polston and Linda Avery; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Folsomville cemetery.

Delbert Deeg
RICHLAND — Delbert Deeg, 80, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
He retired in 1982 as an electrician for Swanson Nunn Electric Co. He was a World War II Army veteran with service in the 594th Engineer Boat & Shore Regiment.
He was a member of Richland United Methodist Church, 60-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 16 in Evansville, 50-year member of Eureka Lodge 397, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine and a 5-year member of Eastern Star Chapter 418.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Opal Mae (Dooley); a son, Delbert M. “Mike” of Richland; a sister, June Fulks of Richland; a brother, Donald of Rockport; and three grandchildren, Jeremy and Amber Deeg and Richie DeWeese.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with burial in Ebenezer cemetery in Richland, with military rites by American Legion Post 254.

Edward Bartley
IRELAND — Edward G. Bartley, 70, died of a stroke Friday, March 23, 2001, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
He was a farmer and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Ireland Sportsman Club and Coon Hunters Club.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy L. (Sermersheim); a son, E. G. of Ireland; and two brothers, Robert of Ireland and Jerry of Santa Claus.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the church. There will be no visitation at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church.
Beverly Carpenter
MOUNT VERNON — Beverly Ann (Lamar) Carpenter, 65, died of heart failure Thursday, March 22, 2001, at her winter home in Haines City, Fla.
She taught school at the secondary level in Crossville, Ill., Albion, Ill., and Mount Vernon. She was a 1953 graduate of Crossville High School, a 1957 graduate of Southern Illinois University and earned her master’s degree in 1967 from Evansville College.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Evansville ACBL Bridge League and Western Hills Country Club.
Surviving are her husband, Welby; a daughter, Kimberly Shelton of Centreville, Va.; two grandchildren, Ashley and Drew Shelton; and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in Crossville, Ill., with burial in Little Wabash cemetery near Crossville. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Miranda Warner
Aubrey Jo Warner
PETERSBURG — Miranda J. Warner, 20, and Aubrey Jo Warner, 2 months and 28 days, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Highway 356 in Otwell.
Miranda was a registered nurse at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
She attended Church of the Nazarene and was a graduate of Pike Central High School and Vincennes University.
Surviving are Miranda’s parents, Angela Anderson Warner of Bicknell and Timothy J. Warner of Petersburg; a sister, Sheena N. Warner of Petersburg; two brothers, Bo and Daniel Warner, both of Petersburg; and her grandparents, Joe Warner of Winslow, Midge Hilderman of Oaktown and Jack Anderson of Washington.
Joint services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Monday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Hills cemetery.

Mary G. (Weddle) Kruse, 82, of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
She was Protestant.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Wendell; a son, Harold Lewis of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Robert Nall officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.
