Paris Kirk
HAZLETON — Paris L. Kirk, 90, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Vincennes.
He retired in 1962 as a truck driver from Bierhaus in Vincennes.
He was a graduate of Hazleton High School and attended the Hazleton United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Joretta Bouchie of Vincennes and Sue Catt of Hazleton; a sister, Wanda Willis of Hazleton; five grandchildren, Kevin and Kerry Catt, Kirk and Kent Bouchie and Kim Lane; and 11 great-grandchildren. His wife, Ruby (Burkhart), died in 1983.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with burial in Shiloh cemetery in Hazleton.

Jerry Abel
LOOGOOTEE — Jerry Lee Abel, 47, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was disabled.
He was a 1977 graduate of Loogootee High School.
Surviving are his parents, Robert and Barbara Abel of Loogootee; a sister, Brenda White of Orleans; three brothers, Randall and Dennis, both of Loogootee, and James of Indianapolis; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Monday at Lee Funeral Home, with burial in Goodwill cemetery.

Ronald Marvel
MONROE CITY — Ronald R. Marvel, 59, died of heart failure Thursday, March 22, 2001, at his home.
He worked as a stock chaser at Johnson Controls.
He was a member of Monroe City Church of Christ.
Surviving are a daughter, Staretta Vories of Vincennes; a son, Doug of Wheatland; two sisters, Mary Jo Ruppel of Stendal and Georgia Marvell of Mackey; a brother, Bill of Monroe City; and four grandchildren. His wife, Marvelene, died in 1992.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Truelove cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Barbara Stratman
MOUNT VERNON — Barbara G. (Pauli) Stratman, 61, died of complications of surgery for colon cancer Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church since 1962.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Delbert; a daughter, Angela Stephenson of Mount Vernon; two sons, Christopher and Philip, both of Mount Vernon; a sister, Martha Sills of Evansville; a brother, Gerald Pauli of Evansville; and three grandchildren, Manda and Brooks Stratman and Emma Stephenson.
A son, Quintin J., died in 1999.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

John Duley
MOUNT VERNON — John F. Duley, 80, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was a farmer and had worked in maintenance at the Mount Vernon Locks and Dam.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Dickens of Mount Vernon; a son, Jim of Florida; three sisters, Velma DeNaro of Los Angeles, Lucille Berry of Gilbertown, Ala., and Martha Jean Jordan of Casper, Wyo.; a brother, Clifford of Los Angeles; five grandchildren, Stephanie Vallie, Michael Moore and Jim, John and Jerry Duley; and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Sharon Gambrel, died in 1996.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel, with burial in Bellefontaine cemetery.

Richard Poehlein
WINSLOW — Richard L. Poehlein, 68, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Wirth Regional Hospital in Oakland City. The cause of death is under investigation by the Gibson County coroner.
He retired from Whirlpool Corp. after 21 years and had worked for Old Ben Coal Co. as a supervisor for 21 years.
He was an Army veteran.
He was a 1951 graduate of Winslow High School and a 1960 graduate of Oakland City College.
He was a member Hadi Shrine and was a coon and bird hunter and member of the Pike County Bird Hunters Club.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Donna B. (Sharp); a daughter, Cindy Bailey of Winslow; a son, Greg of Winslow; two sisters, Edwina Dawson of Petersburg and Marjorie Hart of Michigan City; five grandchildren, Lincoln and Levi Poehlein and Kelly, Kaya and Kinzy Bailey.
Services will be at 10 a.m. CST Monday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, with burial pending.

Marion Miller
Marion E. Miller, 76, of Evansville, died of complications of Alzheimer’s Disease Friday, March 23, 2001, at Woodbridge Health Care & Rehab Center.
He served four years in the Navy and retired after 20 years in the Army as sergeant first class. He retired from Alcoa in 1986 after 20 years as a millwright.
He was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville and First Baptist Church in Elberfeld, Ind., and of the 40 & 8.
Surviving are three daughters, Norma Williamson and Beverly Baker, both of Evansville, and Betsy Pfingston of Elberfeld; four sons, William Schulze of Anniston, Ala., Louis A. and Jerry Schulze, both of Evansville, and Terry Schulze of Mount Vernon, Ind.; two brothers, John and Joseph, both of St. Louis; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
His wife of 11 years, Inez (Suter), preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Michael Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, with military rites by the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club.

Orlin Wiggins
Orlin W. Wiggins, 82, of Evansville, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital.
He worked at Whirlpool and Servel and had been a special guard for Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
He was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, Whirlpool Management Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114, Whirlpool Engineering Club and Checkmates Campers Club, a Youth Fellowship sponsor and a volunteer with Boy Scouts.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Wilma W.; three sons, Randall O. of Terre Haute and Ronald D. and Roger K., both of Evansville; a sister, Marie Wiggins; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mark Church, the Rev. Kimron Reising officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Memorial Park with military rites by Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club.

Eleanor Keck
Eleanor Elaine Keck, 92, of Evansville, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at North Park Nursing Center.
She retired in 1970 from the accounting department at Evansville Dry Goods. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a friend who cared for her, Ralph Miller of Evansville.
Services will be private at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
Vernal Pyle
Vernal E. “Gene” Pyle, 83, of Evansville, died of heart failure Thursday, March 22, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
He retired in 1981 from Wholesale Building Materials Co.
He was a member of Reed Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Ann; a daughter, Melissa Box of La Pine, Ore.; two sons, Phillip of Huntingburg, Ind., and Jeffrey of Evansville; a sister, Buelah Schenck of Evansville; six grandchildren, Matthew, Mea-ghan and Nathan Pyle, Kristine Stevens Box and Jessica and Rebecca Box; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Dennis Davenport officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.
