Patsy Sparks

CANNELTON — Patsy Ann (Arnett) Sparks, 69, died of complications from pneumonia Thursday at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro, Ky.

She enjoyed reading.

Surviving are four sons, Gene of Louisville, Ky., Otis of Elizabethtown, Ky., Lloyd of Van Alstyne, Texas, and Charles Allen of Richmond, Ky.; a sister, Peggy Rice of Berea, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and a companion, Albert Young of Cannelton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Berea cemetery in Berea, Ky.

There will be no visitation at Huber Funeral Home Cannelton Chapel.

Robert Brittain

WINSLOW — Robert D. “Bob Andy” Brittain, 66, died in an automobile accident Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Pike County.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Ripco.

Surviving are two sisters, Joan Satterfield of Velpen and Joyce Satterfield of Otwell; 10 nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow, with burial in Otwell cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ardella McKittrick

FERDINAND — Ardella F. McKittrick, 84, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Scenic Hills Care Center.

She retired from GE and Waddles Flower Shop.

Surviving is a son, Leroy of Ferdinand.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar, in 1963, and four brothers.

Services will be at noon Monday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Becher Funeral Home, with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at her church.

Brian Hilgeman

JASPER — Brian Hilgeman, 41, died of a heart attack Thursday, April 5, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was a supervisor of Aristocraft in Jasper and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Cindy; two sons, Jon and Andrew; a sister, Sherri; and his parents, Harold and Janice, all of Jasper.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel, with burial in Portersville cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jon and Andrew Trust Fund at the German and American Bank at the Crossing in Jasper.

Raymond Topper

Raymond Harold Topper, 88, of Evansville, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Home.

He worked for Bucyrus-Erie for more than 40 years.

He was a Mason, a member of the Toastmasters, active in the Boy Scouts and an antique dealer.

Surviving are two daughters, Julie McKim and Maria Helfrich, both of Evansville; two sons, Stephen of Sacramento, Calif., and Dr. Thomas of Evansville; three brothers, Kenneth and Paul, both of Evansville, and Chester of Grand Rivers, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, Paul Yturriago, Ellen, Tom and Steve Topper, Andrea McFall, Mikey McKim, Jill, Lindsey and Claire Helfrich, and Clara Hirsen; and a great-grandson. His wife, Ellen (Bailey), died in 1997.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Gene Backes officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Home.

William Gibson

William A. Gibson, 82, of Evansville, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He retired as a receiving clerk after 17 years with Simpsons Food Fair. He had been a general foreman at Servel Inc., managed a Shell gas station and owned a Texaco station. In the 1960s, he owned and raced horses. He attended Vann Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Lois Jones of Henderson, Ky., and Carolyn Coomes of Morgantown, Ky.; a sister, Virginia Motes of Jacksonville, Fla.; six brothers, F.L. of Boonville, Arnold and Larry, both of Henderson, Ky., Ernest of Cadiz, Ky., and Harold and Calvin, both of Cincinnati; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his companion and caregiver, Joyce Holley.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Robert Nall officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Miranda Rademaker

Miranda M. Rademaker, 85, mother of Cecilia Phillips of Evansville, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her home in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Also surviving are a son, James of Grand Rapids; five sisters, Eugenia Gardner of Indianapolis, Noella Bosler of Fort Wayne, Ind., Connie Williams of Marion, Ind., Janet Voss of Grand Rapids and Marie Sibbing of Brownsville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Edward J., preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Grand Rapids. Burial is pending.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ofield Funeral Home in Grand Rapids.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Works in Evansville.

Walter Brownfield

Walter V. “Vic” Brownfield, 88, of Evansville, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He retired as a photo engraver after 42 years with Keller-Crescent. He was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral.

Surviving are two daughters, Teresa Hess and Bonnie Smittler, both of Evansville; a son, Delford of Sanford, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Oak Hill Mausoleum, with entombment there.

Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. to service time at the mausoleum. Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel is handling arrangements.

Charis Ary

Charis M. “Chardie” Ary, 76, of Evansville, died of complications of Alzheimer’s disease Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Holiday Healthcare Center.

She retired as a cashier from Great Scot and had been a bookkeeper with Saveway.

She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church and past president of the Reitz High School PTA.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Evansville and Richard of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a sister, Bonnie M. Huff of Evansville; and four grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Nicole and Jennifer Ary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Mike Deeg officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holiday Healthcare ARC Unit.

Ehrman Brack

Ehrman “Red” Brack, 77, died of heart failure Monday, April 2, 2001 at Deaconess Hospital.

He was employed at National Furniture, L.B. Jones, Whirlpool, and most recently at Claspell Heating & Air as a painter.

He was a member of the Eagles in Mount Vernon and the River Bend Association.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Norma Jean (Rutter); a stepdaughter, Sandra Grubb of Boonville, Ind.; two stepsons, Tom Rutter of Terre Haute, Ind., and Michael R. Rutter f Evansville; 11 grandchildren, Tammy Gustafson, Debbie Rakestraw, Sherri Leslie, Kim Roach, Angel McElvain, Laura Rutter, Jimmy, Mike, Russell and Alex Rutter, and John T. Cardwell; 14 great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.

Preceding him in death was a stepson, Ralph, in 1991.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, the Rev. Don Grubb officiating, with burial in Locust Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jockey Bethel Christian Fellowship Church in Boonville.

John Reising

John J.Reising, 89, formerly of Evansville, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Azaelea Gardens Nursing Center in Wiggins, Miss.

He was an Army veteran, serving two tours of duty and had been a resident of the Veterans Medical Center in Biloxi, Miss.

Surviving are a sister, Rita Hobgood of Quartzsite, Ariz.; five brothers, Sylvester of Dyer, Ind., Alfred of Fort Branch, Henry of Arlington Heights, Ill., Irvin of Seattle, Wash., and Victor of Oakland City.

Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins, Miss., handled the arrangements, with burial in Biloxi National cemetery.
