Esther Curtis
MOUNT VERNON — Esther M. Curtis, 83, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
She worked in the Overall Factory and the cafeteria in Mount Vernon School District.
She had volunteered at Good Samaritan Home for more than 2000 hours and was a member of Immanuel Church of Christ.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Baldwin of Mount Vernon; a son, Steve of Gray, Tenn.; a sister, Elnora Naab of Evansville; six grandchildren, Leann Fuelling, Bret and Andy Baldwin, Jenifer Monks and Emily and Justin Curtis; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in 1995, and a son, Alan, in 1998.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Church of Christ, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Norvell Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.

Albert Hodges
MOUNT VERNON — Albert Morris Hodges, 72, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of cirrhosis of the liver.
He was owner of Hodges Appliances before retirement and worked at the Farm Bureau Refinery.
He was a Korean War Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Gloanna; two daughters, Marcia Schneider of New Harmony and Gayle Priest of St. Phillips; two sons, Douglas and David, both of Evansville; and five grandchildren, John, Katie and Molly Schneider and Joey and Amy Priest.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Norvell Funeral Home, with burial in Bellefontaine cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Harold Beadles
WINSLOW — Harold “Sug” James Beadles, 74, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at his home in Kalamazoo, Mich. of complications of lung disease.
He retired in 1986 from Statler Ready Mix in Kalamazoo after 36 years.
He was an Army veteran, serving in Germany from 1946 to 1947.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra Young of Scotts, Mich., Kathie Resh of Kalamazoo and Pam Hillard of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Odean Uppencamp of Winslow and Linda Schlimgen of Three Rivers, Mich.; a brother, James of Portage, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erst, in 1984.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Rupert, Durham, Marshall and Green Funeral Home Portage Chapel in Kalamazoo, with burial in the family’s private cemetery in Winslow, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to service time at the funeral home and from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Olivet General Baptist Church in Winslow.

Robert Gregg Sr.
Robert E. Gregg Sr., 94, of Evansville, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was a professional Boy Scout executive for 40 years, including five years on the national staff and 21 years at the Buffalo Trace Council in Evansville.
After retirement, he was administrator at First Presbyterian Church for five years.
He was a member of the church for 73 years, where he had been an elder for 62 years, committee chairman, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, moderator for the synod and chairman of the synod camp committee.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and the United Way.
He was the director of the National Aquatic School for 25 years, director of the Boy Scouts canoe outfitting base for six summers and on the national staff for six national jamborees.
He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and was awarded the Silver Beaver and National God and Country Award.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary MacGregor and Betsy Gregg, both of Evansville; two sons, John of Rye, N.Y., and Dr. Robert of Newburgh; a brother, James of Anaheim, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1996.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, the Revs. Dennis Davenport, Wendy McCormick and Kevin Fleming officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.

James Williams
James G. Williams, 60, of Evansville, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at his home of heart failure.
He worked for McLean Trucking for 17 years and at Kmart in Mount Vernon.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 and a 1958 graduate of Central High School.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Barbara; three daughters, Erin Butts and Shannon Armstrong, both of Evansville, and Heather Smith of Panama City, Fla.; a son, Chris of Evansville; and 12 grandchildren, Adam, Kimberly, Alex and Dylan Butts, Krystal and Brittany Armstrong, Corey, Katie and Cameron Herzer, Mackenzie Smith and Ashley and Travis Williams.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. John Sloan officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Judy Hobgood
Judy Ann Hobgood, 56, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at M.D. Anderson in Houston of cancer.
She worked for Scott Township School Corp. in the cafeteria and day care.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt.
Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Billy; three daughters, Chris Houghland, Cathy Hobgood and Cheryl Sulawaske, all of Evansville; a brother, William Brown of Evansville; and two granddaughters, Kelly and Kendra Houghland.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Martin Keller officiating, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park mausoleum.

Adam Bohnert
Adam B. Bohnert, 18, of Evansville, died Friday, May 11, 2001, of injuries in an automobile accident.
He formerly attended Harrison High School. He was Catholic.
He enjoyed music and skateboarding.
Surviving are his parents, Sue of Evansville and Edward of Jasper, Ind.; a sister, Sara of Evansville; a half-sister, Jeanene Bohnert of Michigan; and his grandmother, Marie of Jasper.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Ted Tempel officiating, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery in Francisco, Ind.

Veneda Woods
Veneda L. Woods, 83, of Cadiz, Ky., formerly of Evansville, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Marshall County Hospital in Kentucky.
She retired from W.T. Grant as a sales manager in 1967 after 30 years.
She worked at Servel and was an artist.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Downing of Cadiz; two sisters, Mae Cherpak of Orlando, Fla., and Lillian Barnstead of New Jersey; a brother, Zenith Stuckey of Mackey, Ind.; two grandchildren, Renae Loesch and Terry Kitzinger; and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Park Lawn cemetery.

Kenneth Wimberly
Kenneth Wimberly, 59, formerly of Evansville, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at St. Mary's/ Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia, Ill.
He worked at Xenia Manufacturing and was a former owner of Bockelman's Restaurant in Evansville.
He was a member of ESDA.
Surviving are his wife, Tondra; a daughter, Lisa Eickhoff of Evansville; a son, Kevin of Salem, Ill.; a brother, Donald Brooks of Salem; his mother, Edna Brooks of Salem; and two grandchildren, Brittney and Brandon Eickhoff.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, with burial in East Lawn cemetery in Salem.
