Myrtle Harper
CANNELTON - Myrtle Harper, 94, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at West Central Community Hospital in Clinton.
She had been a teacher at Lupp and Myers Elementary schools.
She was a 1924 graduate of Cannelton High School and a 1928 graduate of Evansville College.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law who cared for her, Jon and Alberta Harper of Perrysville; three grandchildren, Trebbie Thome, Tracy Tarquini and Todd Harper; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Prentice S., died in 1989.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Huber Funeral Home Cannelton Chapel, with burial in Cliff cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Roger Hyllested
PETERSBURG - Roger M. 'Short' Hyllested, 73, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Amber Manor of heart failure.
He worked for General Motors in Chicago for 30 years and was an Army veteran.
Surviving are his brother, Harris of Bruceville and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Morris Chapel cemetery in Oaktown.

Kathleen Maxwell
PETERSBURG - Kathleen (English) Maxwell, 75, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of heart failure.
She had worked in factories in Dubois County and in Port Charlotte, Fla., in a flower shop.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Glendale Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Charles Jr.; a daughter, Kathleen Jo Ann Rumble of Plainville; a son, Charles Eugene of Otwell; a sister, Marylee Sullivan of Hazleton; and three brothers, Edward E. English of Kansas City, Kan., Jerrell English of Plainfield and Jamie English of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Brian Maxwell, Bridget Fawks and Dustin and Eric Rumble; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Hills cemetery.

Helen Ogg
Helen Marcelle (Allred) Ogg, 81, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
She retired after 22 years with Kmart.
She was a member of Central Christian Church of Montgomery, Ala., and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are two daughters, Faye Wilson of Evansville and Frances Frederick of Westland, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
Arrangements were private at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
Edward Proske
Edward O. Proske, 95, of Cincinnati formerly of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at VistaCare hospice.
He worked for Hartford Insurance Co. for 46 years, in Evansville from 1937 to 1940 and was the district engineer in Cincinnati. A musician, he played the tuba, piano and bass fiddle. He played in dance bands in St. Louis in the 1920s and 1930s. From 1983 to 1998, he played with the Sutton Swingers, a senior citizens band. He also repaired stringed instruments for a suburban Cincinnati school system.
He was a member of Mount Washington United Methodist Church, Eastern Hills Rod & Gun Club, Masons, Shriner, Scottish Rite and was an honorary member of Reed Lodge.
In 1997, he received a plaque for holding a ham radio license for 75 years. His call letters were W8KEJ.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Catherine (Sirkle); three sons, Ed of Brady Lake, Ohio, Bob of Cleveland and Louis of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Diana, Matthew and Emily Proske and Jessica Plymale; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Ernest Stair officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Helen Tosti
Helen M. Tosti, 80, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital.
She worked for Hesmer's Foods and Fendrick Cigar. She had been a nanny for several families.
She was a member of Evansville Baptist Temple.
Surviving are a brother, Richard Tosti of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Eunice Wright
Eunice T. Wright, 91, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
She retired in 1975 after 29 years with the W.T. Grant Co.
Surviving are two daughters, Monie L. Titzer and Barbara J. Cooke, both of Evansville; nine grandchildren, Jamie and Lennie Titzer, Sharon Long, Debbie Wilkie, Sandy Turpin and Jerry Jr., Susan, Jeff and Mike Steckler; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Alvis A., died in 1968.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, St. Mary's Catholic Church pastoral team officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.

Robert Son
Robert Leslie Son, 93, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Holiday Health Care.
He was a tool and die maker, retiring in 1972 from Whirlpool, had worked at Servel Inc. and at the age of 82 retired from Hahn's Manufacturing.
He was a 1931 graduate of Reitz High School and member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Helen (Springer); a daughter, Virginia Lee Beale of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, James Robert of Evansville; three grandchildren, Rebecca Brunet, Robert Andrew Beale and Matthew James Son; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, the Revs. Clifford Janssen and Helen 'Penny' Greer officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. There will be no visitation at Browning Funeral Home.

Sylvester Knaebel
Sylvester C. 'Syl' Knaebel, 81, of Evansville, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He retired in 1982 as a press operator for Arkla Industries and had owned and operated Martha's Ceramics for 25 years.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary 'Elaine' Reinhart of Evansville; a son, Ronald of Haubstadt, Ind.; two sisters, Elizabeth Wilsey of New Harmony, Ind., and Margaret Hunt of Evansville; three brothers, Joe of Florida and Robert and Francis, both of Evansville; six grandchildren, Keri Krietemeyer, Angela and Brad Reinhart, Kelly Elpers and Jason and Jeff Knaebel; and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, Martha D., died in 2000.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, the Rev. Mike Allen officiating, with entombment in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. memorial service, at the funeral home.

Harlan Brown
Harlan Brown, 58, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of kidney and heart disease.
He was a mechanic and a disabled Marine Corps veteran.
He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Surviving are his son, Paul Eugene of Evansville; three sisters, Wilma J. Reynolds of Richland, Ind., Jenny Taylor of Watson Lake, Canada, and Peggy Cronin of Evansville; a brother, Jackie F. of Griffin, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Steve Clayton officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites.
