John Blackburn
MOUNT VERNON - John K. Black- burn, 46, of Upland, Calif., died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland of liver failure.
He had worked for GE Plastics in Mount Vernon before becoming disabled.
Surviving are his mother, Theodora 'Teddy' (Tucker) Blackburn of Upland; his father and stepmother, Thomas and Bonnie Blackburn of Mount Vernon; a sister, Christine Anderson of Delaware, Ohio; a brother, David of Upland; and a niece.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Austin Funeral Home Boone Chapel, with burial in Black cemetery.

Oliver Metz
WADESVILLE - Oliver Henry Metz, 70, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of amyloidosis. He was a farmer, a Korean War veteran, a 47-year member of American Legion in Mount Vernon and a member of River Bend Association and Ducks Unlimited.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Arlene; a son, Thomas Oliver of Wadesville; a grandson, Christopher Thomas Metz; and a great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Memorial Park, the Rev. Ernest Stair officiating, with burial in the cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel and from noon to service time at the cemetery.

Robert Harding Jr.
ST. MARKS - Robert 'Bob' Harding Jr., 74, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was a farmer and owned Harding Christmas Tree Farm.
He was a Korean War Army veteran and member of the American Legion.
He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Doris (Durchholz); two daughters, Suzanne Marie Buchanan of Mount Vernon and Nancy Ann Etienne of Leopold; three sons, Robert Joseph and David Lee, both of St. Marks, and Allen Ray of Clarksville; and five grandchildren, Marie and Michelle Buchanan, Logan and Sarah Harding and Alexandria Etienne.
Services and visitation will be private, with burial in St. Mary's cemetery, with military rites. Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

John Dupont
TELL CITY - John A. Dupont, 79, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Owensboro (Ky.) Mercy Health System of a cerebral hemorrhage.
He retired in 1986 after 19 years as a millwright at Willamette Industries.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a staff sergeant in the Battle of the Bulge and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
He served on the City Council from 1980 to 1992, was Perry County councilman at large from 1993 to 1996, past Democratic precinct committeeman and member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte L. Johnson of Cannelton and Virginia O'Dell of Tell City; three sons, John Ray, Franklin D. and Barry S., all of Tell City; and seven grandchildren, Lori, Ginger, Valorie and Breanna Dupont, Aimi Hoffman and Bobby and Randy O'Dell. His wife, Virginia (Simpson), died in 1983.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel.

Beverly Salmon
Beverly Anna Markin Salmon, 83, of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at her home. She retired from Lamasco Bank and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Ann's Auxiliary Society and St. Rita's Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, Stephen S. Markin of Evansville; two brothers, Jim and Don Schroeder; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Michelle Markin; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold F. Markin and Elery Salmon.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Revs. Eugene Dewig and Ted Tempel officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.

John Richardson
John Richardson, 58, of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of leukemia. He retired in 1990 as a sergeant first class after 23 years with the Army. He was a fisherman and restored vacuum cleaners.
He was a member of New Horizon Church of God.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Judy (Lenn); two sons, Jason and Jonathan, both of Evansville; a brother, James of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Carl Mann II officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites.

Margaret Williamson
Margaret Baumeyer Williamson, 91, of Bowie, Md., formerly of Evansville, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Doctor's Community Hospital in Lanham, Md.
She had worked as a nursing assistant at St. Mary's Hospital.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Rita's Auxiliary 335, Legion of Mary and the Owls Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, David of Bowie; three grandchildren, Regina, Renee and David Williamson; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at Pierre Funeral Home, continuing at 9 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with entombment in St. Joseph cemetery.

Gladys Bolander
Gladys M. Bolander, 83, of Evansville, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Westminster Village in Terre Haute, Ind.
She and her husband, Louis M., who died in 1995, owned, trained and raced horses at area tracks. She was one of the first women trainers in Kentucky. She also held a real-estate license in Indiana.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, Anne M. Ashby of Terre Haute and Sandra L. Porter of Boonville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Betty, Carol, Teresa, Sara, Angie, Monty, Keely, Natalie, Nick and Paige; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Ernest Stair officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Joseph Strange Sr.
Joseph F. Strange Sr., 85, of St. Louis, formerly of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in St. Louis.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary Helen (Diehl); a daughter, Barbara Jean Strange; a son, Joseph F.; seven grandchildren, Ted and Nick Rebstock, Becky Brann, Vicky Provcencavage, Holly Trout and Jeff and Kristen Strange; and eight great-grandchildren.
Local services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.

Ronald Chanley
VINCENNES - Ronald Edgar Chanley, 63, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital of a heart attack.
He was co-owner of Bud's Tavern and had worked for Purdue Farms in Washington.
He was an Army veteran and was stationed in Germany.
He was a member of the American Legion, 40 et 8 and the Washington Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Margaret (Seitz); two stepdaughters, Cheryl Hauser of Jasper and Katherine St. Clair of Birdseye; three stepsons, Kurt Hoffman of Haysville, Jerry Hoffman of Huntingburg and David Hoffman of Fairfield, Ill.; a sister, Thelma Richardville of Vincennes; and a brother, Clarence Devine Jr. of Vincennes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites.
