Dorothy Schutte
Dorothy Helen Schutte, 70, of Lexington, Ky., formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, in Lexington. She was a hospice patient.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Paul A.; two daughters, Linda Carol Hilton of Fishers, Ind., and Regina Anne Mason of Herndon, Va.; a son, David Paul Schutte of Chicago; two sisters, Lena Cabell of Toledo, Ohio, and Doddie Brown of Evansville; and seven grandsons.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today at St. Paul Catholic Church in Lexington, the Rev. Daniel Noll officiating, with burial in Calvary cemetery in Lexington.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bluegrass in Lexington.
Mary Hodgkins
Mary L. Hodgkins, 82, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Evansville, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Doctors Hospital in Columbus.
She retired from the Ohio Department of Aging and had worked for several physicians and insurance companies in Evansville.
She was a 1937 graduate of Reitz High School and a former member of Insurance Women of Evansville.
Surviving are a sister, Leona H. Douglas of Ostrander, Ohio; and nieces and nephews including, Greig C., Sandy, Jeff A. and Carol Douglas, who cared for her.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.
Roslyn Vaughn
Roslyn (Rucker) Vaughn, 71, of Indianapolis, formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Vencor Health Care in Indianapolis of colon cancer.
She retired from the housekeeping department of Lawrence Central High School.
She was a member of Pioneer Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Pat Jefferson, Lillian Rucker, Lynn Craig, Lagenna Larson and Sandi Turner; two sons, Larry Fykes and Tyrone Vaughn; five sisters, Lillie Mae Larson, Ann Hall, Edith Osborne, Catherine Terrell and Mary Steele; a brother, Robert Rucker; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon today at the Crown Hill Funeral Home in Indianapolis, with burial in Crown Hill cemetery.
Dorothy Osborn
Dorothy Mae 'Dottie' Osborn, 75, of Myrtle Creek, Ore., sister of Shirley Simpson of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in a fire at her home in Myrtle Creek.
She retired as an auditor for Fairchild Semiconductor Co.
Also surviving are her husband of 35 years, Richard; two daughters, Jane Bostrom of Shelton, Wash., and Patsy Cunningham of San Jose, Calif.; a son, Michael Yoakum of Everett, Wash.; two sisters, Virginia Withrow of Henderson, Ind., and Nina Leslie of Clarksville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her first husband, Thomas Issac Yoakum, died in active duty at Whidbay Island Naval Air Station in 1950.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today at Myrtle Creek (Ore.) Family Funeral Home Chapel. At her request private cremation rites were held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Delbert Tyring
CHANDLER - Delbert N. Tyring, 77, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at his home of complications of a stroke.
He retired in 1986 after 29 years at Red Spot Paint in the shipping and receiving department.
He was a 39-year member of Bethel Temple and the Bible class, member of Saints Alive Choir, Daylight Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite in Evansville.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Rhoda E. (Greene); two sons, Michael and David, both of Griffin; a sister, Angela Holl of Evansville; three brothers, Donald and M. Gene, both of Evansville, and William of White Plains, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Misty Troutman, Matthew, Michael Jr. and Dennis Tyring and Tena; two stepgrandchildren, Trena and Devon Van Bibber; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Revs. R.R. Schwambach and Walter Phillips officiating, with entombment in Park Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Temple building fund or Visiting Nurse Association Hospice.
Eugene Appiarius
TELL CITY - Eugene W. 'Gene' Appiarius, 54, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Owensboro (Ky.) Mercy Health System of congestive heart failure.
He had worked at Atlas Van Lines and was a clerk at the Shell Mart.
He was a Vietnam War Army veteran and member of American Legion Post 213, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 and Eagles in Kentucky.
Surviving are his wife of seven years, Becky (Bernardi); two stepdaughters, Caroline Duke of Cannelton and Bobbi Jo Ridener of Tell City; four sisters, Barbara Durbin and Claire Drowne, both of Florida, and Catherine Riley and Caroline Appiarius, both of New York; three brothers, Ray of Ohio, and Mike and Louis, both of New York; and a grandson, Bryce Allen Ridener. His twin sister, Jean Dalia, preceded him in death.
Services will be at noon Sunday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel, with burial pending.

Billy Robertson
VINCENNES - Billy Dale Robertson, 67, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Woodstock, Ill., of an apparent heart attack.
He had been a truck driver, Korean War veteran, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose, and president of the Princeton Singles and Valley Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Robertson of Woodstock, Susie Munday of Evansville and Valerie Jean Robertson of Vincennes; three sons, Billy Dale Jr. and John, both of Woodstock, and Billy Joe of Vincennes; two sisters, Blance Robinson of Indianapolis and Nancy Pullman of Sullivan; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and his companion, Rose Bates. He was preceded in death by a son.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Newkirk Funeral Home in Dugger, with burial in Woodward cemetery near Dugger.

Donald Bateman
LOOGOOTEE - Donald L. Bateman, 59, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Jasper Memorial Hospital of cancer.
He retired after 23 years as custodian with the Loogootee School Corp. and worked part time as a custodian at Loogootee United Methodist Church and West Boggs Lake Park.
He was a member of Loogootee United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Harper); a son, Donald James Bateman of Loogootee; his parents, Clarence Oscar and Ruth A. (Clayton) Bateman of Loogootee; and two sisters, Peggy Byers of Loogootee and Betty Lou Mayer of Bloomington.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, with burial in Goodwill cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Titzer Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

Oscar Espenlaub
CHANDLER - Oscar Espenlaub, 81, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at McCurdy Healthcare Center in Evansville.
He retired in 1982 after 40 years as an Evansville bus driver and was a member of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 0878.
Surviving are a daughter, Jan Morris of Chandler; three sisters, Ruth Orth of Chandler, Rae Miller of Mattoon, Ill., and Imojean Cox of Evansville; two brothers, Carl of Evansville and Harold of Newburgh; two grandchildren, Robert and Gary Morris; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Koehler Funeral Home Perigo Chapel, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery in Evansville.

Jessie Queen
WASHINGTON - Jessie Lucille Queen, 84, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Washington Nursing Center.
She had worked for Reliance Manufacturing, Troy's Restaurant and the Davies County Hospital.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Carr of Illinois, and Marilyn Queen and Betty Kell, both of Washington; three sons, Robert Burress of New Port News, Va., James Queen of Greenwood and Randall Queen of Washington; a sister, Helen Montgomery of Washington; 55 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1968; a daughter, Sandra; a stepdaughter, Ruth; and a son, Gary.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

Everett Brackin
DECKER - Everett Brackin, 71, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital of heart and lung problems.
He was an auctioneer for 25 years.
He was a Korean War veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
He was the first president of the Lion's Club and first volunteer fire chief of the Decker Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Speth); a daughter, Sandra Brewer of Decker; a son, Everett Joseph of Decker; a sister, Leona Young of Vincennes; six brothers, John Homer and Bobby, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lawrence and Wayne, both of Indianapolis, Frank of Clearwater, Fla., and Bill of Indiana; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.
