Ardalene Rogers
OAKLAND CITY - Ardalene Rogers, 95, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at her home.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are eight daughters, Helen Schmidt of Princeton, Shirley Hume and Fern Roeder, both of Winslow, Lynn Price of Lafayette, Kathleen Claridge of Oakland City, Sharon Claridge of Stendal, Jane Rogers of Petersburg, and Deb Versteeg of Owensville; three sons, Bill Rogers of Oakland City, John Rogers of Stendal and Tom Rogers of Winslow; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Steve Dame officiating, with burial in Montgomery cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Edward Ruhe
FERDINAND - Edward H. Ruhe, 89, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
He was a retired farmer and retired from DMI.
He was a member of St. Joseph Sodality, Ferdinand Community Center and St. Ferdinand Church.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mary Delores; three daughters, Barbara Henning of Ferdinand and Rosemary Eckert and Alice Garland, both of Jasper; three sons, Edward Ruhe of Brazil and Jim and Tom Ruhe, both of Ferdinand; 23 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Becher Funeral Home. Parish prayer services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at his church.
Emil Carrico
LOOGOOTEE - Emil D. Carrico, 76, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper of heart failure.
He retired from the Transportation Department of NSWC Crane.
He was a World War II Army veteran, who served in China, Africa, Italy and Burma.
He was a member of Shoals Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and St. John Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Buelah; three daughters, Mary R. Carrico, Julia Ann Beck and Susan Holt, all of Loogootee; four sons, Donald H. Carrico of Jasper, David G. Carrico of Huntingburg, and Tim and Luke Carrico, both of Loogootee; three sisters, Mary E. Stoll of Florida and Agnes Christmas and Pearl Beckett, both of Loogootee; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Titzer Funeral Home. Rosary services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Violet Palmer
VINCENNES - Violet M. Palmer, 81, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at her home.
She had worked in sales at JC Penney and Sears, Brown Shoe Factory and Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was a Pink Ladies volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital and a hospice volunteer.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hoosier Home Ec Club, Christian Ladies Club and First Church of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Emma Johnson of Vincennes; a sister, Madge Blubaum of Vincennes; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald Palmer, in 1987; and a son.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Church of God, the Rev. George Karl officiating, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.

Ernest Taylor
LOOGOOTEE - Ernest Taylor, 87, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Martin County Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8589.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Ruth Taylor; a daughter, Deretha 'Dee' Collins of Mount Carmel, Ill.; two sons, Larry Taylor of Jasper and Ernie Taylor of Lebanon, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lee Funeral Home, with burial in Goodwill cemetery, with military rites.

Jerald Bretz
Jerald John 'Crazy Horse' Bretz, 63, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at home of cancer.
He retired in 2000 after 42 years as a heavy-equipment operator and member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181.
He was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1954 to 1958 as a seat and canopy ejection systems specialist with training as a weapons specialist and attaining the rank of Airman 2nd Class.
He was a member of Beacon Church of The Nazarene.
Surviving are his wife, Janet (Yeager); a daughter, Jamie Bretz of San Jose, Calif.; two sons, Jerald John III and Kristopher, both of Evansville; a stepson, Loren Miller of San Jose; a sister, Juliana Whitten of Owensboro, Ky.; a grandson, Aaron Market; nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law who cared for him, Pauline Shuler. A daughter, Debra Thompson, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Revs. Paul E. Drake and Tim Alicki officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mary Behymer
Mary R. Behymer, 75, of Evansville, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center of heart failure.
She was a licensed practical nurse.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra Bledsoe of Evansville and Suzette Sabelhaus of Tell City, Ind.; a son, Herman L. McMichael of Poseyville, Ind.; a brother, Moses Logsdon of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband, John, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, Ind., with burial in St. Joseph cemetery in Evansville.

Dorothy Wilhelmus
Dorothy Wilhelmus, 90, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Regina Continuing Care Center.
She retired from teaching in 1974 and had taught at Armstrong School for many years.
She was a graduate of Memorial High School and Evansville College and had attended Indiana State Teachers College.
She was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Auxiliary.
Surviving is a cousin who cared for her, Rosemary Brune.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wendel Catholic Church, the Rev. David Nunning officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, with a memorial service at 4 p.m.
Nancy Helmbrecht
Nancy C. Helmbrecht, 68, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of complications of diabetes.
She worked as an X-ray technician in the North Vernon, Ind., Medical Center and was a member of Central Christian Church in Seymour, Ind.
Surviving are a son, Jon of Evansville; a half sister, Linda Kay Myers of Indianapolis; a brother, David Allen Shields of Paducah, Ky.; a half brother, Dr. Charles Lynn Shields of Paducah; and a grandson, James Lawrence Helmbrecht. Her husband, James M., died in 1998.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Willow Road Baptist Church in Evansville, the Rev. Sam Davenport officiating.
Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. to service time at the church. Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Christian Church building fund.
James Lee
James R. Lee, 65, of Evansville, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of renal failure.
He was an over the road truck driver for 30 years and had worked for Michael Market Trucking for five years. He was Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Lottie (Rollins); two daughters, Judy Lynn Heath of Clarksville, Tenn., and Linda Deloach of Dixon, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Darlene Williams of Evansville; seven sons, Billy, Dale, Gary, Randy and Joseph, all of Clarksville, Jeff of Dover, Tenn., and Jimmy of Toledo, Ohio; a stepson, Larry Evans of Evansville; a sister, Dorothy Hardy of Clarksville; a brother, Melton of Clarksville; 15 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Robert Nall officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
