Michael Cuprisin

Michael Cuprisin, 84, of Evansville, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Highland Pointe Healthcare. He was a resident of the

Alzheimer's unit there.

He retired from Arkla Industries in 1980 and had worked for Chrysler Corp.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the field artillery, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114.

He was a member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ and was a member of the Car-Wil-Wal Sunday school class.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Ruth (Suttner); a daughter, Pat Theiss of Colleyville, Texas; a son, Robert of Evansville; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Abby.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. John R. Hilbert officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. Athletic Association or the St. Lucas United Church of Christ organ fund.

Doris Smith

Doris M. Smith, 91, of Evansville, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Holiday Health Care.

She retired from Lic's Ice Cream Shop and had worked at the Chrysler Corp.

She attended the First Christian Church.

Surviving are a son, Don Smith of Evansville; six grandchildren, Christine Sullivan, Carolyn Sue Prince, Rick and Gregg Rhoades, Jamia Brown and Kara Combs; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George G., in 1982, and a daughter, Marjorie Ann Rhodes.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Robert Coleman officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Charles Reed Sr.

Charles Reed Sr., 79, of Evansville, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in an automobile accident at Covert and Weinbach.

He retired from the YWCA in 1988 and was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Poinciana Hayes, Yolana Young and Latota and Stephanie Reed, all of Evansville, and Towana Baxter of Sylvania, Ohio; five sons, Michael and James Reed, Ronald Baxter and James Hurst, all of Evansville, and Donald Baxter of Dallas; a sister, Beatrice Grimes of Chicago; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Jr.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. R.V. Terry officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel.

Gregory Knapper

Gregory Knapper, 35, of Newburgh, died Friday, June 22, 2001, at Cyprus Grove Rehabilitation Center of respiratory failure.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Louisville (Ky.) Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation at Pierre Funeral Home.

Rose Townsend

Rose Lee Clements Townsend, 40, of Evansville, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center of complications of diabetes.

She worked for the Evansville Housing Authority, had attended Harrison High School, was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and former member of Line Street Church of Christ.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Jr.; a daughter, Rosa A. Barnett of Evansville; a son, Anthony L. Barnett of Evansville; three sisters, Dorothy M. Grant of Evansville, Iona A. Grant of Indianapolis and Brenda K. Dean of Phoenix; five brothers, Terry J., Lucian R., Timothy W. and William L. Clements and Tyrone A. Clay, all of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. R.V. Terry officiating, with burial in Locust Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Townsend Fund in care of Integra Bank.

Janice Plassmeier

BOONVILLE - Janice Plassmeier, 69, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at her home of a heart attack.

She co-owned Blesch Brothers Inc. in Holland.

She was a member of the Main Street Methodist Church and Delta Theta Tau sorority.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Harold E.; a son, Tim of Newburgh; a brother, Don Blesch of Holland; three grandchildren, Kyle, Matt and Bryan Plassmeier; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery, with a gravside memorial service by the sorority.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. There will be no visitation Wednesday.

James Brocksmith Sr.

VINCENNES - James G. Brocksmith Sr., 82, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Lawrence Community Health Care Center in Lawrenceville, Ill.

He had worked for Bruce C. Kixmiller Chrysler/Dodge Auto Sales and Vincennes Industrial Supply.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Sea Devil.

Surviving are his wife, Madge (Hinkle); three daughters, Kathy A. McCraken of Lebanon, Mary Beth Brocksmith of Mount Carmel, Ill., and Janice Lynn Wilkins of Chicago; five sons, James G. Jr. of Naples, Fla., Donald G. of Daytona Beach, Fla., Thomas A. of Meridian, Miss., William J. of Seffner, Fla., and R. Jay of Loogootee; a stepdaughter, Patricia Carnahan of Wheatland; two stepsons, Mike Klein of Vincennes and Mark Klein of Lawrenceville; a sister, Faye Yoeman of Vincennes; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home, with burial pending.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church building fund of Vincennes or Loogootee.

Robert Mulzer

TELL CITY - Robert W. Mulzer, 70, of Evanston, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Owensboro (Ky.) Mercy Health System of respiratory failure.

He had been a farmer and rural mail carrier.

He was an Army veteran.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and was a New Boston volunteer fireman.

Surviving are his wife, Arlene (Foerster); a daughter, Donna Mulzer of Columbus; two sons, Dennis and Michael, both of Evanston; two sisters, Selma Hagerdon of Troy and Cornelia Mulzer of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, William of Evanston; and two stepgrandsons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery with military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or the Lutheran Hour.

Frances Hurt

OAKLAND CITY - Frances (Allen) Hurt, 92, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Abbey Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in St. Petersburg.

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Tracer of Lafayette and Alene Magruder of Osceloa, Ark.; three grandchildren, Julie Davis and Alan and Lance Lutrell; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel, a daughter, Barbara Nelson, and a son, Billie Allen.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with burial in Montgomery cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Doris Werner

VINCENNES - Doris (McClure) Wheeler Werner, 96, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Forum at the Crossing in Indianapolis.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church and held offices in the Daughters of the American Revolution, including vice president general of its national organization from 1970 to 1973.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Evelyn Brandeberry of Ohio, and her caregiver, Clorina Huffington.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Glen Wheeler and Tom Werner.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, with burial in Oaktown cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time.
