Ivy Lieber
Ivy Ada Lieber, 94, of Evansville, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Home.
Surviving are a daughter, Jaclyn Schroeder of Evansville; a son, Ronald of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Julia and Janet Schroeder, Joanna Klavon, John Lieber and Linda Davis; and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Harry H., died in 1991.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary in St. Louis, the Rev. David Mehl officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park in St. Louis.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. There will be no visitation at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel.
Mildred Mandel
Mildred M. Mandel, 88, of Evansville, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at her home.
She was a life member of Bethany Christian
Church from cradle roll and a member of the Atlas Sunday school class and had been an active in PTA.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda R. Hawkins of Evansville; a son, Roy J. of Evansville; a brother, Claude Manahan of Juniper, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Brenda Betz, Larry and Chris Mandel, Lawrence Raymond Barton, Pamela Newmaster, Tony Hawkins and Lori Ann Glen; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Raymond C., died in 1984, and a daughter, Margaret Ann Barton, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Will Jewsbury officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church or VistaCare Hospice.
John Watkin
John R. Watkin, 72, of Evansville, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at his home of complications of lung cancer.
He retired after 40 years with Whirlpool Corp. and worked on their Skylab project.
He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Evansville College.
He was a Marine veteran and member of Christ United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carolyn (Bosse); three daughters, Marilyn Ann Myers of Cameron, Mo., Lori Brizius of Evansville and Gretchen Watkin of St. Louis; a son, John V. of Franklin, Ind.; a brother, James of Valparaiso, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Revs. Tom Kelso and Jesse Myers officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jeanette Miller
Jeanette Vida (Brown) Miller, 91, of Evansville, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Parkview Care Center.
She began her teaching career at Caze School in 1931 and retired from teaching in 1951.
She was a graduate of Central High School and Evansville College.
She was a former member of North Park Presbyterian Church and a member of First Avenue Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star Dorothy Chapter 371 in Dixon, Ill., and the Society of Indiana Pioneers.
Surviving are a son, Robert R. Sr. of Evansville; four grandchildren, Robert R. Jr. and Donald R. Miller, Sandra L. Bain and Kimberly A. Mills; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Sr., in 1998 and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Mills, in 1992.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Ray Parker officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with and Eastern Star memorial service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
Nellis Allis
Nellis Allis, 84, of Evansville, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the McCurdy Healthcare Center.
She was a graduate of Central High School.
She was a member of Old North Methodist Church and wrote the church newsletter, The Messenger.
She served as president of the Raintree Girl Scout Council from 1954 to 1956 and was responsible for acquiring much of the land for Camp Koch in Cannelton, Ind.
She was the first PTA president of North High School, serving from 1956, when it opened, to 1957.
She held offices and was a life member of Delta Chi Sigma Sorority, was a member of the Evansville Garden Club and won numerous awards for her flower arrangements and had acted in several plays with The Community Players.
She enjoyed gardening and playing bridge.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia R. Allis of Evansville; a son, Gordon B. III of Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Harriett Meyers of Evansville; four grandchildren, Rom Byron, Glenn Barning, Byron Allis IV and Laura Whitmoyer; and two great-granddaughters.
Her husband, G. Byron Jr., died in 1988.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Patrick Jackson officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Harold Farmer
Harold M. Farmer, 80, of Newburgh, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Angel River Health & Rehabilitation.
He retired in 1986 as a hydraulic mechanic from Alcoa Warrick Operations.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a pilot in the Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno campaigns, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel, and was the recipient of the American Theater Service Medal, Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1969.
He was a member of The Sports Car Club of America for more than 30 years and a member of the Jaguar Association.
He was a Kentucky Colonel and a Methodist.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Leah Scott and Laura Rae Joyner, both of Newburgh; a son, Randy H. of Weatherford, Texas; a sister, Janice Weaver of Murray, Ky.; a grandson, Ryan James Zietz; and nieces and nephews.
His wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Whiting), died in 1999.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, with burial in Friendship Church cemetery in Fordsville, Ky.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from noon to service time at the Newburgh chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care.
Hazel Frost
Hazel Evertz Frost, 89, of Evansville, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Angel River Health & Rehabilitation.
She had been a public health nurse in Monmouth County, N.J., a nursing supervisor in Manasquan Health Center in New Jersey, and a school nurse in New Hyde Park, N.Y.
She was a graduate of Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She had been a member of New Hyde Park (N.Y.) Baptist Church and Whiting Bible Church in Crestwood Village in Whiting, N.J., where she lived for 23 years.
She had been a volunteer at the Community Medical Center in Tom's River, N.Y.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Thomas 'Bob' of Henderson, Ky., and Richard of Covington, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremy Frost.
Her husband of 47 years, Alfred, died in 1989.
There will be no service or visitation at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel. Burial will be in Ocean County Memorial Park in Tom's River, N.J.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a local hospice.
Rex Batson
BOONVILLE - Rex E. Batson, 79, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at St. Mary's Warrick of respiratory failure.
He was a World War II Naval Air Corps pilot and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3418 and American Legion Post 200.He attended Hemenway Memorial Presbyterian Church and was past exalted ruler of the Elks.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Margaret; five daughters, Ann Ahrens of Newburgh, Kay Collins, Sally and Mary Ingram, all of Boonville, and Lea Wells of Marshall, Ill.; five sons, Don and Robert, both of Boonville, Joe of Rockport, Michael of Franklin, Wis., and Jeffrey of Hobart; a sister, Carolyn Sue Roth of Denver, Colo.; 33 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the Hemenway Memorial Presbyterian Church, burial will be private.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time at the church.
