Lloyd James Sr.
Lloyd James Sr., 69, of Evansville, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at his home of can-cer.
He worked for the Dr Pepper Bottle Line Co. for 18 years, and he enjoyed farming.
He was a member of the Vann Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Crystal Utley of Morganfield, Ky., and Terri Lynn Kramer Shultz of Evansville; four stepdaughters, Laurie Wood of Henderson, Ky., Paula Wooden of Wyanet, Ill., Rebecca Andrews of Buda, Ill., and Carla Blades of Princeton, Ind.; a son, Lloyd Jr. of Evansville; four sisters, Hazel James, Joyce Lee and Betty Rhoades, all of Heilman, Ind., and Gail Robertson of Kerrsville, Texas; six brothers, Charles A., Jerry and Ronald James, all of Heilman, Donald Ray James of Fort Pierce, Fla., Billy Joe James of Dale, Ind., and Eddie Robertson of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Shirley, died in March.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Garrison Chapel Church near Heilman, Ind., the Rev. Robert Nall officiating, with burial in Garrison Chapel cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the church. Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care.
Mildred Keck
Mildred D. Keck, 90, of Evansville, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Good Samaritan Home.
She and her late husband, Fred, who died in 1998, had owned a resort near Paris Landing in Paris, Tenn., and she had worked at Mead Johnson in Evansville
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Dorothy Corey of Hemet, Calif.; a brother, Henry Dersch; and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Lynn E. Snyder officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Covie Campbell
Covie Campbell, 80, of Evansville, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at the Evansville home of his daughter, Regina Whobrey, of lung cancer.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181 for 50 years.
He was a World War II Army veteran, recipient of a Purple Heart and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 and American Legion Post 265.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Phyllis Hester of Casselberry, Fla., and Trudi Wall of Evansville; a son, Dannie of Evansville; a stepson, Joe Sanders of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Ethel Linzy and Jean Risley, both of Evansville; three brothers, Paul of Evansville, Owen of Rumsey, Ky., and Sylvester of Florida; three grandchildren, Rachelle Campbell and Gina and Jamie Whobrey; and seven stepgrandchildren.
His wife, Dale, died in 1989.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Browning Funeral Home, with burial in New Cypress cemetery in Calhoun, Ky., with military rites.

Joey Berger
JASPER — Joey Berger, 2-year-old son of Dr. Gregory Berger of Jasper, died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Louisville, Ky. His death is being investigated by the Jefferson County coroner’s office as a homicide.
Also surviving are his mother, Monica Buechlein Berger of Louisville; and grandparents, Dr. Daniel and Jackie Berger and Charles and Marge Buechlein.
A Mass of the Angels will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel.

Christopher Singleton
WADESVILLE — Christopher S. Singleton, 25, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, of injuries in an automobile accident on Koressel Road in Vanderburgh County.
He had worked for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. and part-time at the West Side Hacienda Restaurant.
He was a 1994 graduate of North Posey High School and a 2000 graduate of the University of Southern Indiana, with a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics.
He was actively involved in student government and the Ambassador and Democratic Internship Programs at USI.
He coached cub football for Reitz High School as a defensive coordinator and had recently been appointed assistant varsity coach and junior varsity head coach for Reitz High School.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Poseyville.
Surviving are his parents, Patrick L. and Patricia A. Singleton of Wadesville; and three brothers, Scott, Layne and Joseph, all of Wadesville.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Poseyville, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery in Evansville.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel in Evansville and from 8 a.m. to service time at the church.

James Willis
PRINCETON — James W. Willis, 77, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Holiday Manor Convalescent Center of a heart attack.
He worked for Hurst Manufacturing Co. in Princeton for 10 years, and had worked for the Bradenton (Fla.) Herald Newspaper and the Princeton Daily Clarion.
He was a World War II Marine veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1147 and American Legion Post 25.
He was a member of the Princeton Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Kate; three daughters, Joan Fortner of Princeton and Lana Pollock and Jimmi Sue Harvey, both of Petersburg; as son, James M. of Cocoa, Fla.; a sister, Betty Bender of Waland, Tenn.; a brother, Eugene of Princeton; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews A daughter, Donna K. Caniff, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Princeton Christian Church, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery in Francisco, with military rites.

Pauline Patrick
Pauline B. Patrick, 91, of Evansville, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Angel River Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She had owned and operated the Turf Bar and retired after more than 15 years of residential housekeeping.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Surviving are nieces and nephews and her caregivers, Ron and Debra (Schwartz) Smith and Loranna and Michael Schwartz.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at noon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Rev. Henry Kuykendall officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.

Mary Reisinger
Mary Gail Steckler Reisinger, 64, of Evansville died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at her home of lung cancer.
She retired in 1999 from Advantage Sales & Marketing and had worked for the Creasey Co. for 14 years.
She was a 1955 graduate of Memorial High School, a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a member of Delta Chi Sigma and was a gardening, reading and travel enthusiast.
Surviving are her husband, John; two daughters, Lee Griggs and Sandy West, both of Evansville; a stepdaughter, Keri Eickhoff of Evansville; two sons, Michael of Evansville and Joseph of Lafayette, Ind.; three stepsons, Carl Anthony and Clay A. Reisinger and Carl Carter, all of Evansville; a sister, Betty Dean Carneal of Evansville; 20 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Bill Heard officiating, with burial pending.

Wilburn Scherer
Wilburn Henry Scherer, 86, of Evansville, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital.
He retired in 1979 as a tool-and-die maker after 42 years with Whirlpool Corp. and was a gardener and enjoyed landscaping.
He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and the Sunday school.
He was a former Boy Scout leader of Troop 71 and Cub Scout leader of Pack 396.
He enjoyed fishing and baseball.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Esther L. (Thielman); a son, Mark Alan of Indianapolis; a sister, Elfrieda Huff of Evansville; a brother, Ray of Evansville; two stepgrandchildren, Beth and Todd Bourff; and nieces and nephews. A son, Brian Glenn, died in 1991.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Mount Vernon, Ind., the Rev. Paul Seburg officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel in Evansville and from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.
